Sanchez. The Chilean. I've said it twice now, but I'm fairly positive he's going to be something special!

In best Brian Fantana (Anchorman) voice:

"HONDA WATCH!!"

Looking forward to seeing the lad play again, not to mention a few others in that squad. Paraguay have some decent looking players too. Shame they don't still have that mad goalkeeper who used to take their freekicks. Chivelret?

Going for the likes of Figueroa, Palacios and Rodellega like Wigan do - then fine. But trying to sign the next Messi or Kaka just isn't going to happen.

There are a lot of good young players in Europe who wouldn't need a work permit. Never mind signing the world's best, we'd be massively improved by signing the new Arteta or Alonso.

I know signing foreigners doesn't guarantee exciting football but watching Villa and England does make for dull football sometimes. The style of both teams is so similar it's scary......

We've signed a fair few home based players for pretty decent cash who have been a waste of money surely we can risk some on some players from Europe? Who knows what might happen......

Some might argue, probably will. But I miss that bit of class we had with JPA when he was on form (granted not enough), and when we weren't lumping it up to him hopefully. A bit of technique and a footballing brain can encourage the other players around you. He'd often instigate some of our better football and he wasn't afraid of a bit of one touch play.

It'd be nice to have another player like that, perhaps with some added robustness and more pace.

Absolutely agree. It's the missing piece for me. A proper number 10 with Gabby and we'd be away. A Yorkie though, not Angel.

I have to disagree, we desperately need a midfield playmaker. We have done for.......a hell of  along  time now!

We've got one. It will be Delph. Sort it out up top and we'll win more games. We need a 'Deano' signing.

I think either or would be great, but if pushed I'd go for the number 10.  A playmaker may be more suited if we didn't have such good footballers in centre mid, if we had destroyers then we would need an Arteta type to pick the ball off them and create.  But Milner and Petrov are good on the ball and should be able to pick out our deep lying forward who can then cause some damage.  I don't think our problem is Milner and Petrov's lack of vision, just the fact that our strikers are too static so they can only shunt it wide or lump it long.  If we had someone dropping into the hole behind Gabby that would cause a lot of problems as we could go wide, long to Gabby or through the no. 10 and defences would struggle to cover all bases.  Of course if we got a creative midfielder in Milner could push up into the hole, but I wouldn't be convinced he and Gabby would score quite enough goals.

We do have scouts and they are looking for promising players from all over the place.
We have some at the club already in the academy/reserve sides and we're definitely after more. Europeans, Americans, Aussies... etc

South Koreans...?

The Independent

Quote
Aston Villa have expressed an interest in South Korea international Cho Yong-hyung, according to the player's agent.

The central defender played in all four games at the World Cup as the Taeguk Warriors reached the last 16 for the first time on foreign soil.

Cho, 26, currently plays for Korean side Jeju United but his performances for his country have attracted interest from a host of clubs across Europe according to Yoon Ki-yeon of the player's agency Inspokorea.

"Aston Villa and a few other European clubs have shown interest in Cho," he said in The Korea Herald."I can confirm that he is on their transfer list and I expect the official deal will be made after the World Cup."

Would he be better than Davies ?

I'm going to have to call chinny reckon on that article regarding the South Korean player.
One thing we certainly do not need is central defence cover.

would he play central defence? given MON's preference he'd probably be shoe-horned in at right-back
