I want so far from the wc:

Trochowski (rated him against us, perhaps gettable)
Annan
Honda
Matsui
Forlan

Can't think of too many others cause I've not watched a hell of a lot.

Also agree on Dempsey. I think he'd be an excellent squad player. Depends if he'd be happy on our bench. I've always been impressed with him though, a clever player.

I know player swaps are somewhat of a rarity nowadays, but would we be happy with a straight swap of Milner for De Jong, Ireland and Richards or Onuoha? IMO it would give our team an all round strengthening.

--------------------FRIEDEL-----------------

RICHARDS---CUELLAR---DUNNE---WARNOCK

-------------DE JONG---PETROV-----------

-----DELFOUNESO---IRELAND----A.YOUNG

-------------------GABBY----------------

If we sell the unwanted six and use the money with any transfer budget we could stenghten the squad depth and quality on top.

All 3 would be good signings but I'd still like robbie keane as well, that would represent A decent influx of 4 class players and enhance our side a lot-not impressed by altidore to be honest but I suppose at the price it's no real risk.

Don't apologise, it's only a thought in progress. Do you think it's weaker all over or just the midfield without Milner?

Having Fonz on the wing ruins it. He's a striker.

Out of the new signings you put it, i'd take Ireland out of those three. De Jong has never realy impressed me whenever i've seen him.

We have no chance of getting De Jong.

The Fonz's position wouldn't be on the wings it would be tucked in a lot more, the reason I put him there is I feel he is good at dropping deeper to pick up the ball and run with it, better than Gabby, who is stronger at holding the ball up. It would be a support striker role. I put him in there as preference over Downing to be honest. But as I said with the extra money we could raise/put forward, we could get a better option, play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 with roughly the same players.

De Jong is great at breaking up play and getting an attack restarted, he keeps it simple, but effective IMO.

Probably not gettable for Villa to be honest but I'd like to see Raul Mereiles replace Milner, think he's looked awesome so far.

The only reason i mentioned Altadore is because of his age, his potential, and his price.

He is 2/3 years younger than Gabby, would only cost £1m?, and listening to a lot of the pundits on tv/radio, the general consensus is that there is a really good raw talent in there somewhere.

You watch that game last night, and don't tell me that , considering his age, he did'nt have a really good game.

Annan, i like as well, how old is he though?, Given a choice between Bradley and Annan i would take Bradley every time.

For De Jong for me , read NRC, good tackler, not good enough on the ball.

Edu, of USA, if only young, could turn into another Yaya Toure, again might be worth a gamble.

Watch him regularly for Rangers. Apart from being black and playing in central midfield he is nothing like Toure. He's probably much more of a box to box player at club level than a defensive midfielder. I actually think he'd almost be wasted as an outright defensive midfielder.

I'd go for that possibly with the exception of Delfouneso starting on the right. I think we should persist with Downing on the left and Young on the right and review it later on in the season if it doesn't work. I'm certain we'll see more from Downing next season. That's not to say Delfouneso can't play a role. I'd like to see him and Carew as Gabby's backup.

De Jong is a defensive midfield thug. We need one of those as Petrov lacks bite. He's in his mid twenties so he is younger too. If we don't get him we should look at Annan if he's gettable. This will likely be Petrov's last season as a first choice and next season I would put Delph in the Petrov role. We would gain from having a more defensive player alongside the more attacking Delph in the two.

Richards and Ireland are two players I definitely would be after.

I hope MON was watching England just and realises now that we need to buy foreign. I wouldn't buy any of those players on show today......

Not in the England lineup anyway....!
