Schweinsteiger isn't going to move from the German champions and European Cup finalists to us, is he?

Schweinsteiger won't even move to Man Yoo so he won't turn up in B6 anytime soon.

Podolski won't go anywhere but London since he's such a bighead - perfect for Spuds.

Ozil will probably move to Madrid, Bayern or Barca before 12th July.

Why, is he donning the sash and marching on the 12th?

I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere but I meant before the Final.

Lahm looks very very good as ever.

Oezil looks the most impressive player seen yet, and is the sort I would love to see the Villa try and get hold of, showing a bit of ambition. Imagine him with Milner, Ashley etc witha  good holding man behind them and 1 up front. We might not look quite so one dimensional all the bleedin time!
I agree ozzjim, a player that doesn't run in straight lines.

Ozil might be out of reach but we should definitely be looking for that type of player, someone who can do the unexpected.

Not identical in style by any means, but from the limited pool we generally select from Ireland would probably be our best bet.

We were linked to Steven Pinnear today in the bbc gossip bit, he has one year left on his contract and would be another option if we want to play one upfront.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is ready to take on Spurs in a £12m battle for Everton's South Africa winger Steven Pienaar who has only a year left on his contract and is stalling over an extension. (Daily Mirror)

If we can get him for £12m I'd be very happy.

Would we score enough goals with a front five of Gabby, ash, milner, downing and Pienaar? The football would be good.

Unsure on Podolski. Only three goals last season. Positively heskey-esque. Quite unpopular in Germany too with a bad attitude and apparently lazy in training or so I heard on a podcast the other day. Can't say I see much of the Bundesliga.

Considering he has one year left on his contract, if we paid £12m for Pienaar I'd be disgusted.

I'm not totally convinced by him either. He's a decent player on his day. Nothing better than what we have though.

I've already set myself up for us losing Milner and signing nobody exciting.

Milner himself was "nobody exciting" so I'm calm as usual.

I quite liked Trochowski from Germany (did he make their squad, can't be arsed to look). He's a decent midfielder. Ozil would be better, but as said, probably out of our reach.

Podolski does look a fucking good player when he plays for Germany. He's got plenty of class about him, it's just his attitude, but perhaps a move to the UK under someone like O Neill might sort him out. You'd have to say that the somewhat mercurial Carew, though having his moments, has finally settled down somewhere.

I'd love us to sign Podolski. He never got much chance at Bayern, and he left them to join a no hope bunch of strugglers.

If we are selling Milner for around £30m, I would love to see us use it to get an elite playmaker like Ozil. I don't believe accumulating a bunch of players who are very good, but not great, is ever going to be enough to push us to top four.

Pienaar would be welcome, but another very good, rather than great player.
