From the first 35 minutes Podolski and Ozil should be top of our shopping list (just like I wanted them to be last summer).

Agreed Paul Ozil has everything we lack and Podolski always looks good. If both are gettable we should be in there like a shot.

Doubt ozil is but podolski hardly played last season so I'd say he is.

Ozil was linked last year.

Not sure if he was at a smaller club and moved to Bremen, or just progressed so well at Bremen that he started to make waves.

I'd very much doubt we'd be in with a realistic shout now. He's pretty much the golden boy of German football.

Podolski always looks decent in tournament football, but goes missing for large chunks of the domestic campaign. His overall scoring record over the years isn't that hot.

Lahm looks very very good as ever.

Oezil looks the most impressive player seen yet, and is the sort I would love to see the Villa try and get hold of, showing a bit of ambition. Imagine him with Milner, Ashley etc witha  good holding man behind them and 1 up front. We might not look quite so one dimensional all the bleedin time!

I agree ozzjim, a player that doesn't run in straight lines.

Ozil might be out of reach but we should definitely be looking for that type of player, someone who can do the unexpected.

Not identical in style by any means, but from the limited pool we generally select from Ireland would probably be our best bet.

Agreed, Ireland is the most likely to give us that unpredictable player from the middle of the park. Horrible to say, that I don't think Milner in our set up will ever give us the craft or guile to break through a defence with ease.

I was just saying the same in the international football forum. Ozil looks a great little player and exactly the kind of guy we need in midfield. I'm a big admirer of Podolski but whilst he has a magnificent record in internationals he only gets into low double figures in the Bundesliga each season (Managed just two last season for Koln).

However, even if we could get Ozil if what Storey-Moore said and our transfer policy implies is correct he and Podolski are unlikely to sign for us.

He was on the radar last year apparently.

We probably do clock promising up and coming young players on the continent and further afield.  We sign youth players from across the world after all.

We just don't tend to spend anything like serious money on them. Salifou and Guzan were signed for such low amounts so as to barely make them a risk at all.
