Just that we shouldn't sign strikers who are getting gradually slower on the basis of how good they were a few years ago.

No problem with that, but pace isn't a big part of Keane's game and I think he'll still be quite good.

How old was Teddy Sheringham when he went to Man Utd? He was'nt the quickest either.

Like i've already said, if the price is not stupid, then i can't see a problem with it.

14 goals in 16 games for Celtic is a pretty decent return for a player going to a new team-he's a decent finisher which is what we are desperately in need of in my opinion.
.

As it's the shitty Scottish league, it's meaningless.
Samaras scores a fair few. Miller bangs them in too.

Anybody will tell you that league is shite, bar the MONettes.

Oh dear, another childish and witless attempt to ridicule anyone who thinks MON is a good manager. Repeat a hundred times till fade.

And to save you the bother, 'pass the keepnet...blah blah blah'.

Just a bit of name dropping....Craig Bellamy was in my shop today doing some grocery shopping with child and missus...had a chat
Told him i was a Villa ST holder and would love him to come...he said he would love to work with MON again as he is superb but that would def not happen at Villa
He is desperate to go to his home club Cardiff but they cannot afford his salary.
Mentioned Spurs as a possible move...very nice guy to chat with and very honest and up front

Keane is a class player. He's also not that old, and is the kind of player that will not be effected to badly with age anyway as he relies on skill and brains rather than pace and athletisism.
Always the same on here, people only look at what someone has done over the past 6-12 months, if someone who has been shit for years has a little purple patch he is the answer to all our prayers, and if someone who has been class for years has a bit of a dip we shouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Absolute garbage. I guarantee if he signs for somebody else and scores 12 goals in his first 20 matches, everybody will be desperate for us to sign him in January.

Cole and Zamora i agree would not improve us, or even necessarily be as good as what we already have. And they are too similar to what we already have as well up front, athletes rather than footballers.

It's not just the last 6-12 months, it's his overall play. As you football experts might say 'in the hole' he's really effective and can link the attack up well. As a goalscorer, he's always come across to me a very greedy player, who relies on power more than precision to beat the keeper.

He may well score 12 goals next season but it will probably include penalties and even then it will take more than 20 games. That's not my issue. The point is what he does in the remaining two or three years of his contract.

That's why I have serious doubts about him. He could probably give us one good season (if he loses a bit of weight) but after that, I think we'd be looking to bring in somebody better. Spurs are not getting rid of him because they have too many strikers...

Finally a genuine ITK. Didn't elaborate on why he definitely wouldn't be working with MON at the Villa then? I would assume it to be the wages issue.

Oh and what did he buy?

spurs managed a top 4 place without Keane so we buy him and become a top 4 team?

mebbe we could interest spurs in a heskey swap deal. after all Keane seems as popular on their boards as Heskey is on ours. that way everyone's a winner :0)

Wigan slap £15m price tag on Arsenal and Aston Villa target Hugo Rodallega
By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 9:05 PM on 9th June 2010
Comments (-) Add to My Stories Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has put a £15million price tag on Arsenal and Aston Villa target Hugo Rodallega.

Though Wigan have had no firm offers yet, Whelan said: 'I would say £15million for Rodallega isn't outrageous.

'He is a player we do not want to sell and I would love it if he started next season with us, but equally sometimes we have to sell a player like this, we have no choice

Wonder if Wigan would be tempted with £10m + Heskey?
