Do they? Just because it is a 'serious' paper doesn't mean they have better football inside knowledge. You tend to find tabloids are as good for getting the scoops as they have to be - they have more readers.

They also report far more shit. So maybe because they throw more mud they have a higher number of things that stick.

The data that also backs up what Kevin says

That's the one. So they are 2nd with a whopping 29.7%. Hardly the doyens of transfer scoops though. although neither are the Daily Record. What it shows -the table - is that they're all much of a muchness.

It also shows that your claim that "you tend to find tabloids are as good for getting the scoops as they have to be - they have more readers" is a complete fallacy as they occupy all the positions at the bottom of that chart.

Don't really care about the tabloids success rate with other transfers TBH Peter. That probably has more to do with 'Arry pissing in their pocket.

Only concerned with any success rate vis a vis our TF dealings, and the Guardian tend to be better than most (if not all) in that regard.

True - but as a tabloid is top and 5th its not totally out. Also, I'd be interested to see how many of these are their own scoops and how many are widely touted transfers that are reported in one or more papers.

Fair point. But too be honest I don't tend too pay too much attention to the newspapers for the football scoops as I'm more likely to find out what's going on on the internet and/or Sky Sports News.

You can stick Robbie Keane where the sun don't shine. Every time I saw him for Celtic he seemed to miss a handful of chances. At best he'll be first choice for a year, spending the remaining two years on the bench whilst picking up £50k-£60k a week.

No thanks.

Bang on. I watched him a few times whilst he was up here and he missed far more than he scored I remember on his debut for Celtic Kilmarnock's second choice goal keeper seemed to have the measure of him but not only that he seemed to lack pace and fitness which is why I think he is starting to get a bit stale. Also, bare in mind this is the SPL so it's not as if he's up against top class defenders every week.

14 goals in 16 games for Celtic is a pretty decent return for a player going to a new team-he's a decent finisher which is what we are desperately in need of in my opinion.

For a player with 43 goals in 99 internationals that is a very good total, class player and still 3 decent yrs left in him.

.

As it's the shitty Scottish league, it's meaningless.
Samaras scores a fair few. Miller bangs them in too.

Anybody will tell you that league is shite, bar the MONettes.

We might as well sign Kris Boyd.

Younger, scores more goals and wouldn't cost as much as Keane.

Another day gone - another day we haven't signed C Cole, Keane or Zamora.   How many more to go before I can breath easier?

So forget Scotland and look it his PL record - it's still excellent!

Farmed out of his last two clubs for not being preferred over either Dirk Kuyt or Peter Crouch?

Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen also still play and have great overall scoring records.

We shouldn't sign them either.

As Keane is neither 35 nor has an horrendous injury record, I fail to see your point?

Just that we shouldn't sign strikers who are getting gradually slower on the basis of how good they were a few years ago.
