well he's 20 now. if he's gonna make it he needs to play a bit more than that as i hope delfouneso will be getting next season. if they've not made  the breakthrough to the first team by 22 you can usually forget it.

The way I see it, is we want shot of Heskey and a new striker brought in, I don't think anyone disagrees with that?  That would leave three senior players for 2 positions and the young Delfouneso as the up and coming talent, who we get as many games as we can in 'lesser' competitions to develop him.  And a similar situation with Clark and the centre backs, should Davies go.  I'd be happy with the same scenario in the wide positions, which would mean one new man coming in.

I do like the look of Albrighton, but I think it may be too soon for him to be playing the amount of games I'd expect of the new guy, considering I don't like Ash and Downing together as they are both best on the left.  Age my start to count against him soon, but for now it's what I think is best for the side.

No to all 3 of the players City are releasing.

If people here are moaning about Doyle and Keane then Petrov ,Benjani etc are far worse players.

Rather see them here on a free than spunk good money on Carlton Cole and other useless tat.

As others have said we really need to improve the first team, there's not much point improving the squad when its not used anyway.

All this talk about players not being ready makes me laugh-it never stops
sir alex from throwing them in as teenagers - heskey and downing were poor far too often so why didn't o neill give albrighton and the fonz more game time- how many times did heskey or sidwell come on and change A game?

This is what really pisses me off about o neill that he always seems to have only 1 plan of action!

its worth remembering that delfouneso is a year or two younger so at this stage that is fine for him. i just think if you rate youth players (and MON has given every indication that he does), then sooner or later you have to give them a run in the side, otherwise you get a load of overage youth players cluttering up the reserves and blocking progress. osbourne for example is never going to make the grade now.

People always bring this up, but that batch of players he had coming through was the exception rather than the rule.  How often does he play Macheda?  Or Gibson?

He has Rooney up front though , we have heskey! I'd rather see fonz than heskey anyday and if albrighton came on for downing a few times it might give stew the kick up the arse he deserves!

Osbourne was never going to make the grade back then either - honestly don't see why MON hasn't shipped him out before now!

I think it's a tricky balancing act as to when to give a young player his head and let him go.  To do so too soon hurts the side and to do so too late hurts, and potentially ruins, the player.  Is Albrighton ready now to be a first team regular?  I'll leave that to Martin, but I'd obviously hope he is as that could save us £10m!

Strange mon was quick to ship out whittingham who was a far better player than osbourne.

Osborne at everton once was superb but apart from that game Ive seen very little to convince me he'd even make it in the championship.

Was he?  Or was it a case of one being prepared to stay and the other wanting first team football?

that the problem john. the better ones tend to want 1st team football rather than be behind a load of deadwood, but enough about the bolton defender.

Whittingham is three years older than Osbourne. He had his chance to impress, so has Osbourne now, maybe.

Any why are you comparing Rooney who rarely ever fails to start for Man Utd with Heskey who rarely ever starts for Villa?

Heskey has had far too much game time when the fonz should have hAd a chance, I was replying to a post that sir alex doesn't use macheda much , I wouldn't either if I had Rooney!

Well, I wouldn't argue with that.
Next season we'll see far more of him though. Even with a new striker coming in.

I hope so, I think he will be more prolific than gabby and if given a few games could really make a name for himself next
season.
