Have we signed anyone yet?

Yawn.

heh. if you're like this now, you'll be climbing the walls after a month of "we won't move until the players are back from the world cup", and "the transfer window hasn't even opened yet". i reckon July earliest before MON decides to pick up the phone.

Yawn ?

I think if you looked at it from a statistical point of view, the vast majority of all business is done once everyone is back for pre-season.  I do wish he's be a bit quicker once that happens, but other than the odd deal nobody will be concluding much right now.

To be honest, I'm not holding out much hope.

Whoever MON buys anyway he'll be selling them in 2 years because they've not delivered.

aye, i'm not expecting much in the way of pleasant surprises.

The Blues seemed to have acted quickly.

They knew exactly what positions they needed to strengthen and exactly what players, and they've gone and got them.

Why can't we do that?

As they’re not buying from the same market as we are.

Whilst bracing myself for the inevitable "but they're shit" didn't we sign Downing and Sidwell relatively early?

Seriously, couldn't you have found a less laughable club that have already bought someone to use as your example?

I agree with Percy.  There'll be plenty of time to get worked up about O'Neill's predictable and uninspired signings once he's made them.

Go on then - predict them.

If we don't sign one of Keane, Cole, Doyle, Zamora this summer, I'll eat my hat.

I don't actually have a hat, but I'll buy one purely to eat it for you.

You should get one of those Nacho hat's

I think a lot depends on who you are going for an what the competition is.  If you enquire about a player early and they're dying to join you, then it's a relatively quick and easy process.  The further up the food chain you get the more interst other clubs also have in your targets, so you see things take longer as agents play one club off against the other.

If you look at the clubs around us, who has made a move yet of any significance?

Not too late then. Honestly, is there much point buying players in June?
They're likely to be players nobody else wants and their contracts dont change over until the 1st July anyway.

If you cant wait to sign players, tough shit. Go out and play or watch the Cricket or something.

Last time I checked, 16th & 10th July weren't in the last week of August.

The Rags have bought early but my guess is it's to try and sell season tickets based on the idea that they're going to make more signings, spending millions on top players. What the knuckledraggers don't realise is, this is pretty much it. They'll be linked to Torres and a Bid for Kaka but I have a very strong feeling the money just isn't there.

More heartbreak at the Sty.
