I can't believe that Fletcher cost 7 mill. If we want a real quality striker, we're gonna need to pay through the nose. Keane will likely cost comfortably over 10, so we'll need to fork out.

That link to Doyle for £9 million, good grief. No.

What he said....£9 million is madness for him...would it improve us? No, can't see it myself...probably tabloid laziness anyway

He would cost more than that

McCarthy said he'd want £12-15m for him at today's rates.
They paid £7m for him, so they're not going to just accept a £2m profit.

I can.
His goalscoring record in the Premiership is better than the highly feted (on here) Doyle.

Doyle for £9 million, I repeat No fucking way. That is a prime example of why you should shop abroad.

It doesn't have to be well known names, i'm sure there are players out there who are really good but aren't big names yet.

Yes Mark F.......MON has such a bad record of buying good up and coming youngsters, and seeing them improve dramatically.

Milner, Ayoung, Delph.......they're all shit aren't they.

Milner, Young and Delph were hardly unknown quantities were they?
Nearly £30m for the 3 of them.

Good signings, but what about

Sidwell, Heskey, Salifou, Harewood, Davies, Reo Coker, L.Young, Beye?

Rejects one and all and cost over £30m.

His transfer market dealings are pretty shoddy, which is why i'm hoping against hope that Milner doesn't leave and give him more money to waste.

We may be getting that £30m back for just one of those.

Probably not, but it's what we should be doing rather than wasting good money on average players.

When you sign a young player for a sum of £12million you expect him to improve and raise you a lot of money and some profit. Admittedly, not as quickly and as large a profit but still.

I think Delph is very promising and hope we see much more of him next season but it is surely a bit early to bundle his signing in with Milner and Young in terms of success
