I'll be watching Krasic quite closely in this tournament. Can't believe a team from one of the major leagues hasn't signed him yet as he was the best player on the pitch by a long way when we played Moscow at VP 18 or so months ago.

If he does move anytime soon it will be for big bucks, maybe Tigana will cash in if he has a good WC to rebuild, who knows?

Have I missed something or did you mean Blanc?

Blanc resigned at the end of the season, he's taking over France after the WC. Tigana was appointed the other week.

I did miss something then!! Cheers.

No problem!

Will be interesting to see how Serbia do in general, they had a really good qualifying campaign and have some very good players! Krasic was superb against us, I think the thing with Russian football nowadays is it pays very well and therefore keeps holds of some of the better players for longer!

Very good player Krasic...but did'nt he say he only wanted to go to Real Madrid, or something like that?

Gourcuff does look a very good player...BUT.....AC Milan let him go, and at international level seems to freeze.Would cost in excess of £20m, not sure i would pay that much...

Oh I would pay it.

If the deal ever got that far that we were talking about a price, and if there was an inkling that he would come I wouldn't even hesitate.

This was interesting from the BBC

' 'If you go to the World Cup hoping to unearth the next Wayne Rooney you've already missed the bus," said Aston Villa chief scout Ian Storey-Moore, who prioritised May's Under-21 Toulon Tournament ahead of the World Cup in his search for the next wave of talent.
"With the possible exception of North Korea, virtually every member of every squad will be well-known by clubs before a ball has been kicked.
"Occasionally, a player you've never heard of catches your eye but buying on the basis of one tournament is incredibly dangerous. It's easy to get seduced by the spectacle of a major competition but it's the cold light of a November midweek game that will provide the true test.
"World Cups are a culmination of many months' hard work. You're following pre-targeted players and discovering how they cope at the highest level. This is the final test."
But Storey-Moore admitted Villa boss Martin O'Neill would only be interested in men with Premier League experience.'

So that speaks volumes, I don't think having Premier League experience should be a prerequisite for signing a player.

It's a shite mindset, I agree.

Zidane never had Prem experience but Gavin McCann has plenty.

It is, how about players who have succeeded without premier league experience. I'll just pick a list off the top of my head, Adebayor, Henry, Drogba, Torres, Palacios, Bergkamp, Hangeland, Figeruoa. There a many many more. If you choose to take a chance it's unlikely you will succeed.

Says the bloke who no doubt travels around europe watching players we won't be signing.  You couldn't script it.

Another example. It's quite clear that taking a gamble is necessary to make steps forward.

I think everything Storey-Moore says there is right and it shows that he is doing his job.

However, in the case of what he believes our manager is after I vociferously disagree. It is the kind of skewed viewpoint that suggests we are more likely to sign Michael Brown than Hamsik or someone like that.

Yeah it's more his view on what M'ON looks for that concerns me, very very narrow minded. The question is why bother scouting Europe, when it doesn't matter how good a player looks you won't sign him unless he's played in the Premier League.
