Right ....so team gets promoted, do better than last seson, score more goals, let less in,  get more points but they're in fact worse. its an interesting theory Maz *faceplm*

Did I say their team was worse? What the fuck are you going on about now?
You're comparing a player that has left to go to Everton on a free, who wasnt even in the League 1 team of the season to a player a clutch of big clubs were after, was voted the best young player in the entire Football League and went for a large fee.

Delph looks comfortable in a Premier League side at 19/20. Beckford has never played higher than League 1.

The *faceplms* are on you.

I don't see the correlation that just because Delph left and the team improved that he wasn't important to them.  £7m is a lot of money in Div 1 - who did they buy with it?

Besides, it's irrelevant to us as it's what Delph does in a Villa shirt that he should be judged on.  So far I'm pretty impressed and VERY hopeful for his future.

don't change the subject. they patently didn't miss him any more than we missed knight unless we're getting progressively worse by your bizarre "more points they get the worse they are" system. biggest load of guff i've read on here in years

I think we should temporarily reinstate Coopers Injury for the Beckford debate.  I'd be very interested to hear his views on the situation.

you said they missed him, which sort of hints at a negative effect on the team no? unless you were talking generally as in they missed him down the pub QuiZ because he was useful in the general knowledge round..  just hope if we sell milner we miss him as much as leeds did delph.

Leeds dont have a player as good as Delph since he left. Therefore they missed him. Are you saying they wouldn't have won the league if he was there?

Now, why Leeds were promoted after selling him is a different argument. They strengthened eslewhere? Weaker competition? Who knows. I dont care either.
All I now is that Delph is was and will be a much, much better player than Beckford.

Leeds may not have missed Delph, but that's no criticism of his ability.  All it means is that their manager was good enough to organise the team so that his absence wasn't felt.

Now, play nicely please.

Jezus greg' you're starting to state the blindingly obvious now.  Can I join in?

If we didn't have a keeper we'd most certainly let in more goals.

I know people may not think he's good enough. I would've like to have seen MON go for Joe Ledley on a free from Cardiff. Young, versatile.....and free!!

How can you miss something that has had no impact to begin with?

I have no doubt he'll be a decent player one day, but he's done nothing yet and still isn't ready for first team Prem football anyway.

In the few times we have seen him he looks exactly the sort of player we currently need, should have had more of a run out last season when fit, just hope he comes back from injury unscathed
