Those saying Everton signing Beckford was a good bit of business, would you have said so had we bought him?
My arse you would.

on this very thread i said i wouldn't mind beckford on a free

Yes but had we signed him you'd be going on about signing third division players. But we'll never know because, thank fuck, we havent signed him.

yeah of course i would. what with written proof on here that i thought he was a decent punt a week earlier. Some of us don't change our opinions on players just because MON is/isn't interested.

Personally i'd rather have given Fonz a run next season anyway, rather than bring in a striker who's only scored in Division 1.

well he's proved himself good enough to play in the championship by right. maybe not a higher level yet, but better than delph when we bought him. i'm really not sure why all you HC's are so down on Moyes having a free transfer punt. It normally takes more than this to get MON's personal bodyguards on the case

So, let me see if I've got this right - if a player plays well at one level it proves 'by right' that they can do it at a higher level?  Let's put that ridiculous assumption aside for one moment and ask how it doesn't also apply to Delph, who excelled in the same Leeds team as Beckford?

And I have no objection to Moyes taking a punt on him.  I just don't think we should have.

sorry but beckford was/is a championship player. he'd earned that right by getting promoted. if he failed next season you'd have point. delpth didn't and to be fair to him only managed 40 odd games due to his age but they didn't miss him much did they?

I'm glad we beat Man City to the signing of Delph and passed on Beckford. Yes, he scored a lot in Division 1, but so did Jason Scotland.

Ask any Leeds fan if they missed him.
If you're comparing the two in terms of talent you are looking at property in Facepalm Springs.

So how is that what you said originally?

Quote from: "gregnash"
well he's proven at a higher level and cheaper than delpth was... was that a mistake?

If that's the case, are Blackpool's starting strikers proven at PL level?

You can argue his merits in terms of value if you like, but trying to convince people he is proven at a higher level than Delph is simply wrong.  And I think you know it is.

That means they didn't miss him?

I know several Leeds fans and I assure you they considered him their best player by some distance.

Leicester's D J Campbell helped to get Blackpool promoted.  I think DJ Campbell is a better player than Beckford.  I also don't think DJ  Campbell is good enough for the Premier league as his stay with the Blues proved.

Beckford will find it very difficult next season.  I expect him to be off loaded by the end of it.

Right ....so team gets promoted, do better than last season, score more goals, let less in,  get more points but they're in fact worse. its an interesting theory Maz *facepalm*
