We need to finish above Spurs next season. We are not going to do this by buying their cast offs. Robbie Keane-no thanks.

We weren't too far off Man City with their cast off at centre half, and he had a far better season than his replacement.

IMO they are not comparable. Dunne played all first team matches in the season before we signed. If he was still there he would be in the team ahead of Lescott. Robbie Keane cannot get in the Spurs team, Xmas party or no Xmas party he is not as good as Crouch or Defoe. I don't doubt he might go straight into our first team but I think in finding a a partner for Gabby is the easiest way we can strengthen our first team and we should be looking for someone better than an ageing Spurs reserve.

Les, I don't think he's the answer either, just making the point that sometimes just because a player isn't wanted at one club, it doesn't necessarily make them 'not good enough for us'

I'm so glad we never buy cast offs, Deano and Macca were awful lets not go down that route again.

Bottom line is Keane is 30 in July and won't get any better. he's managed an average of just over 5 top flight goals in the last 3 seasons. If thats the sort of scoring rate we're looking for we might as well stick with Ivanhoe.  It's been obvious to anyone with a brain that he was sent up to scotland to  fill his boots in the hope that some mug who's scouting nework doesn't stretch past teletext will look at the goals scored column and take him off  'Arry's hands. i just hope MON is not that mug.

He's scored 60 goals in the last 3 seasons for three big clubs, and 55 goals in the previous 3 seasons, that'll do for me.

I see we can cross Vigic off.  Can't bring myself to say where he is going

Liverpool are letting Fabio Aurelio go. Replacement for Young? Not if he has any sense I suppose.

Has he? Five goals a season in each of the last three seasons? That's awful.

Soccerbase has got five PL goals last season (obviously half the season was in Scotland), 10 in 08-09, and 15 in 07-08. League goals only.

sat on the bench mostly at liverpool because FSW didn't want him. that will knock anyone's confidence and then fell out with Reknapp and didn't play wither.

Keane got 6 league goals last season in just over half a season in the Premier League, and loads in the two seasons before.  5 goals is a little bit wrong.

Would take him for a fee between £5 -8 million.

£12-15 million for Tottingham's fourth choice forward would be funny farm material.

Defender Richard Dunne would welcome Stephen Ireland to Aston Villa if his time at Manchester City comes to an end this summer.

The Republic of Ireland international made the same move last summer and amid speculation that Ireland could follow him to Villa Park, would be happy to see him do just that.

Speaking as he launched the Football Association of Ireland's Goal to Work programme in Kilinarden today, Dunne said: "He had a bit of a stop and start season last year after the previous season, when he was unbelievable.

"I think Stephen would say himself that he wants to get more games and play more regularly, and if that's not at Manchester City, he would be more than welcome at Villa.

"Everyone in the Premier League knows on his day how good he can be, and he would be a great addition to any side."

£20million and Ireland would be brilliant business I reckon.

Come on Dunny tell him its brilliant at Villa and how he won't play at left back and we can get him in the team thank you very much

You sign Robbie Keane at 8 million on 60k a week for three years. At the end of the contract he is going to be worth nada aged 32-33. So you have spent 17 million quid on what I reacon to be 30 premier league goals (ten a season). We have bought Young and Milner and saw there value increase surely MON realises this is the right thing to do and will look to invest in Falcoa, Rodellega or Klasnic.
