Citeh are now being linked with a £20m move for Mikel Arteta in the Guardian.  So it seems their transfer policy this summer is to buy (or unsettle at least) the best players at their main rivals.

Im actually really starting to dislike man city. I thought fair play to them when they got taken over but they are acting like a right bunch of c##ts. Barry, Lescott, Arteta, Milner. I dont like the cut of their Jib.
And its not the green eyed monster either...Chelsea are easily my favourite out of the big 3 teams....

Agree though, Zigic and Manual for 9 million would be good business.

Que?

Shush Dave, I have MONs problem, them foreign types are are all a bit beyond me in their name, let alone ability at football.

Sorry, I should have added a:

Que?

I hope that's not Ross on the blower to him again!

Linked to a Jenas/Keane double raid  in the papers. Too depressing to link to it,

I seen that shudder at the thought of jenas...Keane would be ok at the right price

Says something when Jenas and Keane would be an improvement on Heskey and Sidwell

As above, we can't moan that our subs aren't good enough, then moan again when they may be improved upon.

Just question the logic of trying to compete with teams like spurs by buying their reserves. Shouldn't we at least be going for regular premiership starters who've had a *cough* decent season? Or is that too much to hope for?

Although you have a point, lets not forget that waxface simply doesn't like/rate Keane, so he isn't a reserve for ability reasons, IMO.

Would he improve us?  Yes
Does that mean we could get closer to the top 4?  Yes
Does that make him a good signing regardless of where he's coming from?  Yes

Yeah, I like Jenas too. Honestly, the thought of signing both Jenas and Keane hardly thrills me (Keane would have done three years ago) but if you're talking about improving the squad, this pair are definitely a step above players we've currently got. Better than Sidwell and Heskey? Absolutely.

He only improves us because Heskey is so bad.  Most strikers would do that. I want someone who is better than Carew or Gabby

Don't agree.

When paying regularly he was outscoring Gabby and Carew.  He also is the type of striker to drop off and link play better than we have at present, so would also allow us some variation in tight games.

Not the top of my list and there is a question mark over him getting back to his best following the Liverpool debacle, but a lot more than just an improvement on Heskey.

As we've discussed before I think Keane is the 'type' of striker we need. His style of play is just what we are missing. It's clear that since his bust up with Redknapp over the Christmas party he's got no future at Spurs so, if there's any truth in it, it would seem a good deal for all concerned.

Jenas I'm less sure about. A good player no doubt but I've never been 100% convinced.

And I'd fancy that he'd put more penalties away than Ash and Milner. Keane that is. Jenas to add something to a poor midfield. Stick Ireland in there, Kevin Davies, Craig Bellamy, one out of Barry, Kompany, or de Jong will go, offer a lot for Louis Saha, and get in the odd back-up or two and I think we're in business.

If it was the Keane of 2/3 years ago i'd agree. the over 30 version we'd get, no. Especially at the price they supposedly want for him.
