Benayoun, Ireland, whoever - MON would have them all running their legs off DE-fensively thereby negating any point in buying them whatsoever.

I'd disagree and wag my finger in disgust, but quite right unfortunately.
Lets sign Ronaldinho and play him at right back.

It's a shame we're not in the Spanish league, we'd have finished 4th!

Feck it!

Carlton Cole battle hots up as Liverpool and Villa join race for striker - Exclusive
Published 23:00 16/05/10 By Darren Lewis

Liverpool and Aston Villa have joined the race for Carlton Cole after it emerged last night that West Ham rejected a £10million bid for the striker.

The offer has come from Birmingham who are desperate to prise the England frontman away from Upton Park.

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has spoken directly to Hammers chief executive Karren Brady about a deal made up of £8million cash with £2million in bonuses.

The offer was rejected out of hand by Brady, whom City believe is trying to spark an auction for the player.

Can't we just go for a forward who SCORES GOALS? Hope this rumour isn't true. See also Zamora, Robert.

I doubt Blose will be spending £10m, never mind on one player.
Cole is a decent player nowadays but I hope we can do better.

Also, this is in the Mirror. Or, to put it another way, lies.

can't work out if the press have just come to the same conclusion as us to the likely players MON will buy or are just sadists, but all of those names has a sad inevitability to them and you can see him blowing 10-15m on one of them.

beat me to it.

Manchester City expected to make £24m offer for James Milner• Club looking to make a quick purchase before World Cup
• Chelsea also expected to make an offer for midfielder

Manchester City are keen to secure the services of Aston Villa's James Milner.

Manchester City are poised to make a £24m offer for Aston Villa's James Milner to secure the midfielder before he goes on England World Cup duty.

The club are mindful that Fabio Capello, the England coach, has said there should be no player negotiations during the tournament. City will move quickly and they expect Chelsea to weigh in with an offer. They expect the west London club to match their price and believe Aston Villa will be looking closer to £30m to seal the deal, according to the Daily Mail.

The England midfielder has had a good season with his club but City believe Randy Lerner, the Villa chairman, will be willing to cash in on the former Leeds United and Newcastle United player.
