I know this isn't the first time it's been mentioned on here, but I think O'Hara looks like a player who would be a good addition should NRC and/or Sidwell leave.

Yes, quite possibly or even Glen Whelan or Liam Lawrence from Stoke. They have been decent and made the upgrade to international football with relative ease.

They probably wouldn't be content warming the bench at villa though and I can't see Stoke wanting to sell.

So you'd turn down Doyle but take Whelan or Lawrence? Jaysus. They've made the upgrade to international football because we (Ireland) have such a dearth of quality! I'd be surprised if they go on to play for a better club than Stoke for the rest of their career (do Celtic count?).

Doyle, has at least a bit of quality to him. Whelan, like Darren Gibson, has a good long-range shot on him but not much else. Lawrence is a trier like most of the Irish squad.

As squad players if Sidwell and Reo-Coker leave. I'm not saying they are the players to take us to the next level. Horses for courses, they'd get us through the league cup games and the occasional easy tie in Europe. If Sidders and NRC leave we will be thin in terms of midfield cover. We don't need cover up front, we need the genuine article. Hence, I think Doyle isn't the player for us right now.

I'm going to hold you to this. In fact I'd recommend that you do it now, and thus there could be a whole summer of Cooper's Injury Davinia Barkford related shenaigans to provide a subtle distraction to the World Cup. In fact I'm pretty sure that you should unban him as some kind of civic duty, in a World Cup 2018 Entertainment Bid whoop whoop David Beckham everything is great stylee.
