I’d have Keane. Movement and craft in his play and likely to bag 10 plus.

We already have two players who do that. We need a 15+ goal machine.

We have two (unless you mean league only).

Yeah, I did. I think I'm right in saying this season our strike-force scored:

Gabby 13
Carew 10
Heskey 3
Fonz 1

27 goals out of a total league tally of 52 - so just over half. We need that number to be bigger and percentage to be greater. Yes, it's good to spread the goals around the team but first and foremost it's the strikers job. Next season would it be unreasonable to expect something like:

A New Striker 15
Gabby 15
Carew 7
Fonz 5

We need a Keane kind of player, but as Richard said earlier i fear that he is burnt out.

Jenas is a better player than both NRC and Sidwell, so depending on what his price is, would'nt be too bad.

Would'nt surprise me if we go for Walcott.

I can understand some apprehension about Keane given his track record - but he could'nt be burnt out - his last few months in Celtic is about as easy a ride as you could wish for and he did score. He's a proven International, scored a great goal in Paris last November, played like a captain but needs to be wanted. The Xmas trip to Dublin finished him at Spurs I reckon - no way back despite what Harry says.
Good character in the dressing room, great trainer and very positive
I also think Gabby would learn from him - and get himself up to the next level. He needs an experienced and generous pro to play off.
Worth 8 m no problem.

That is shocking from Heskey.

What did you expect?

He's hardly been Alan Shearer throughout his whole career.

Are people dumb enough to think he'll all of a sudden start scoring?

Unfortunately they were. When he signed for us there was a thread where the majority predicted he'd score 6 or more up to the end of last season, such was the belief in magic martin's skill in polishing turds :o(

Another day, another top striker linked to us *cough*

BOBBY ZAMORA is set to be an £8million summer target for Aston Villa and Everton.
The two clubs have joined Birmingham in the battle to sign the Fulham striker, 29.

But boss Roy Hodgson plans to offer Zamora a new deal in a bid to keep him.

Zamora must wait to find out if he needs surgery on the Achilles problem which cost him a place in England's 30-man provisional World Cup squad.

Doctors say the injury needs at least a week to settle down before specialists have a look

I'm not dumb and didn't expect much. I just think that is a dreadful return given the games he started last season.

I think he would offer that, but my point was that if we had a reliable 3rd striker who could score goals ten plus goals and create more with his movement and guile, then we'd be in a lot better position. 40 odd goals spread over three players takes a lot of the pressure from Gabby and BJC.

Bellamy would give us the movement and flair we lack up front. Also his goal tally would put us right up there ...........

I'd rather have Bellamy than Zamora

Then again, i'd rather have Keane than Doyle too

It'd be nice, to have something different on the striking front though. A Falcao or a Huntelaar etc

I think Doyle would be a great signing, and an ideal partner for Gabby.

I would have agreed with you last year or the year before. However, I think at this stage of our development we need to go for better. We need to move beyond good, solid players and look at ones that will make people sit up and take notice. We need to move beyond our current level.

Bellamy sounds good even if I don't like his personality.
