Carrick is a better passer than Petrov, but Petrov covers more ground. Carrick was way over-priced and is way over-rated.

Don't agree. carrick is a miles better passer than petrov.

Fair enough, we'll add it to the long list of things that you're mistaken on.

Edit: actually that's a bit harsh. He's certainly not 'miles better' at passing (some of Petrov's passes this season have been phenomenal, much better than anything I've seen Carrick do) and as has already been said - is much more agressive, committed and hard-working than Carrick is.

Certainly it would be a backward step to replace Petrov with Carrick.

Carrick is probably a slightly better passer than Petrov, but his movement after the ball has been played is miles better than Petrov.

Petrov is lazy at times, and not as hardworking as people think. Of course this is my opinion and not the general feeling that he is Captain fantastic.

Simply put we need better than him, and I think Carrick would fit the bill.

trouble we have is the manager's insistence on playing two wingers means centre midfield has to get through a hell of a lot of work. Carrick's better passing range and accuracy would negate that hopefully. Parker i fear would struggle to match petrov's sterling work rate

Carrick's passing can look better than Petrov's, as he has players around him making better runs to pass to.  In our side he'd be playing the exact same balls as Prtrov does.

carrick can ping them in from 30 yards at times. imo he's the best passer they've got

Then why does Fergie rarely start him these days?

If he doesn't suit theirs he surely won't suit ours.

depends if you think hargreaves/carrick would have worked in a side with 2 wingers. i think it would have done, but hargreaves injury and ronaldo going changed fergie's plans

They've played 3 in the centre for most of this season.
