He's right though. The obvious candidate might not cost us a bean in transfer fees but a fortune in wages and if he doesn't end up staying at Chelsea will probably leg it to Spurs or Citeh.

Who else though? I don't know. Don't think Tuncay was/is the answer.

I was a bit surprised we didn't go for Tuncay last summer.

If the scousers are still struggling for cash then Benayoun is an option.

Speaking of West Ham I'm a big Scott Parker, think he has a good range of passing, is commited and can come up with some goals out of nothing either him or Artata would be ideally.

Suggested Scott Parker before, would have liked to see him arrive last Jan in fact, as it was clear we'd need more depth in that dept going into the second half of the campaign.

But with the benefit of a full pre season, we should probably be looking at better in all honesty.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if our main business this summer centres around the likes of Parker and Robbie Keane. Or possibly a Kevin Prince Boateng-type.

None of whom are bad players. But would they be enough to help us close the gap?
