Bruce would get lynched up there if he agreed to that.

Yeah, but that would just be a bonus as we'd get a good striker aswell!

Guiza would work well in a Diamond...

Alright, forget it.

Dani Guiza would struggle in England, I fear. He's a bit of a specialist finisher, which works fine in Turkey and Spain, but not so much in England or Italy.

Carroll might be Ok in a few years, but he's hardly going to be the player that can fire us from 6th to 4th.

No I wouldn't say that either although who's to say we wont finish 4th this season? Its his potential I'm considering anyway. Which is also all Kalinic is at the moment too.
That said, I think he'll score a decent amount of goals next season in the Premier League if he stays at Newcastle, who would probably need a big offer to sell if at all.

Carroll, if we bought him, would be one of two strikers coming in. A long term replacement for Carew.

Agbonlahor
Delfouneso
Heskey
Carroll

AN Other

The 5th stiker would have to be someone very good IMO.

Well, Heskey wouldn't be there.

I'll be surprised if he leaves this summer.

Heres some info on Dani Guiza:

Dani Guiza Wiki

Seems to have a decent goal scoring record (1 in 3 and 1 in 2 over last 2 seasons so far).

Goals from 2008-2009 season (15 goals in 44 appearances):

Daniel Güiza - All His Goals (2008-2009)

Looks like he plays off last defender quite well and scores a lot of 1on1s with geeper, not afraid to have a shot from outside the box and natural finisher inside the box.

Whether or not the link is genuine, I think its fair to say that this is the kind of player we need especially with his goal scoring record.

Like I say, scores in Spain and Turkey where the poacher striker hasn't been refined out of existence, but in Italy and England (ironically, but perhaps not coincidentally, the two countries with the biggest poacher tradition) it's pretty much impossible to play with one, with the notable exception of the deceptively hard-working off-the-ball Defoe.

With MONs style of play I would disagree with that tbh mate. A player with good movement, natural finishing and ability to get on the end of crosses is what we need and I would pretty much class that as a "poacher".

Coincidently, I think Defoe would have been the perfect signing for MON last season.

Tend to agree. The thing is that Gabby is more then capable of doing the physical work now. He might not be close to Carew or Heskey for winning headers, but the less hoofing, the better we play IMO.

It really is a paradox that we supposedly are a long ball team, playing with big targetmen ++ and we generally play the better football when we pass it around like Brazil.

Gabby could be a decent poacher given that it appears that he cant shoot with any conviction from distance. I think hes got good finishing instincts (as opposed to when he has time to think about it), has natural pace and hes bulked up a bit, so he just needs to learn better movement off the ball.

Ash and Downing are often criticised for poor balls into the box, but part of that is that they dont have much to aim at...if they had forwards with the intelligence to move and create space then their crosses would be a lot more productive.

Kevin Doyle! Quality player who I think would play well with gabby, plus with our finances he would be cheap and gettable.

Depends where we finish this season, but Kevin Doyle is only good enough as a squad player. He is not the answer.

No I think he might be, I really think he could do a Derren Bent. And after ONE good season then POW we sell him to blues where he gets shit.

If we qualify for CL then no.
If we dont, then he may be all we could afford/attract...but still not the answer as I dont think he'd be good enough to help secure the elusive 4th place.
