Kalinic yes please, Carroll no thanks

Why?

Shit hair?

The cornrows are gone and yes, he should have gone to the gallows for that. His current barnet is acceptable, especially if plenty of goals are bouncing off it into the oppositions net.

I was thinking abaout this the other day. You don't really see clubs in our position (ie top 7 or 8) pluck players like this straight from the lesser leagues. The thinking I think is that they don't have to, as they can pay the higher premium once the player has proven himself in a more competetive league with a lesser light such as Blackburn, and they also play instead of rotting in your reserves while they find their feet.

Paveluchenco for example would have been better served with a year at Bolton before moving on to Spurs.

We're in a difficult position as once a player does prove their worth, there are bigger fish than us also sniffing.

This is very true!

Clubs like Blackburn and Wigan can let them bed in in the first team, whereas us, Spurs, etc. can't as we have more to play for!

Carroll might be Ok in a few years, but he's hardly going to be the player that can fire us from 6th to 4th.

No I wouldn't say that either although who's to say we wont finish 4th this season? Its his potential I'm considering anyway. Which is also all Kalinic is at the moment too.
That said, I think he'll score a decent amount of goals next season in the Premier League if he stays at Newcastle, who would probably need a big offer to sell if at all.

Carroll, if we bought him, would be one of two strikers coming in. A long term replacement for Carew.

Agbonlahor
Delfouneso
Heskey
Carroll

AN Other

The 5th stiker would have to be someone very good IMO.

If Gabby and Delfouneso are set as two of the four, and either Heskey or Carew are also staying, then I don't think we have room for another 'up and comer' if we also want that new top player to partner Gabby.

For me Heskey has to go this summer. Maybe Sunderland under Bruce and we could put a big bid in for Bent with Emile in exchange, but the guy is no threat in front of goal and as such just not worth his place in the side. Carew I would like to stay, but he is expendable. Carrol as a big man option and then a direct Gabby challenger such as Bent would give us a nice 5. I like Kalinic a lot at Blackburn too.

Steven Defour
Clint Dempsey
Graham Dorrans
Mohammed Zidan
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

All good options. All gettable for the right money. All capable of giving us something else. Dorrans if only for taking penalties.

Bruce would get lynched up there if he agreed to that.

Villa linked with striker swoop

Aston Villa, 12:18, March 15, 2010

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is being linked with a summer move for Fenerbahce striker Dani Guiza.
The Spain international is keen to quit Turkey in the summer and although the player would prefer a return to his homeland, O'Neill hopes to persuade him to move to England instead.

The 29-year-old has impressed with Fener when bagging 19 goals in 45 appearances but he is keen to move on after two years in Turkey and O'Neill is ready to swoop.

Guiza has scored goals wherever he has played and O'Neill is keen to sign him for Villa which would in turn cast doubts over the future of Emile Heskey and John Carew.

Anyone know anything about this Dani Guiza?

There you go. Gabby, Fonz, Carroll, Bent, Bill Weimann. There's your 5.

Heskey goes to Soondaland in exchange with a couple of others maybe (Sidwell, Shorey). Carew gets one last move at the end of August after a golden tarrah a bit (no urine involved) from the fans.

Then we get Stephen Ireland in or someone like that. A long term right back option like Micah Richards and maybe a defensive midfielder with some passing ability to compete with and then replace, Petrov. Actually forget that, just have NRC, Petrov and Delph fighting over that spot. Delph being the long term solution.

He was class off the bench for Spain in Euro 2008, can play in a 2 or on his own. I've wanted us to get him for ages! Real number 9.

Doubt theres any truth in that link though.
