RIP Brian Godfrey

If anyone deserved to have a thread started for him in 'Holte Enders in The Sky' it was Brian Godfrey.
RIP to one of my first Villa heroes

RIP - Brian Godfrey
It is with great sadness the Aston Villa Former Players Association announces that Brian Godfrey, aged 69, passed away at 04.15 GMT this morning in hospital near his home in Cyprus after a lengthy and
courageous battle against Leukaemia.

Brian started his professional football career at Everton and in an 18-years career played for 6 league clubs and was capped for Wales at U23 and full international level. He joined Aston Villa from Preston
North End in 1967 and played over 160 games including captaining Aston Villa in the 1971 League Cup Final.

Brian was a staunch participant and supporter of the Aston Villa FPA and Aston Villa Old Stars football team and we mourn his passing. Funeral details will be circulated when they are known.

What a great memory of a brilliant day out. Brian looks very proud in that picture as were all of us who were there.

RIP Brian.
