Carlton Palmer always looked like a cross between Cruyff and Maradona to me. I don't know why we were never interested in him.

cos he was shite??

Cruyff by a long way.

Very few oppositon players get a standing ovation when they are substituted.

Totally agree, he was absolutely brilliant and am proud to have seen a player like him at VP. Anyone remember who came on for his debut that night for Villa at centre forward?

Downing always has a good game at VP

I agree with this. In truth, overall i never rated him. However whenever we played Boro (particularly at VP) the lad seemed to play his b*llocks off.

Obviously looking for a move here.....

Gordon Durie around 1990 / 1991

Neil Sullivan - Beni's debut

Woodgate - as mentioned above

Bergkamp - first half of the Santa Claus game.

Benni McCarthy / Alexander Mostovoi / Karpin?? / Salgado - Celta Vigo

Sol Campbell - again early 90's playing left back

Cruyff by a country mile.absolutely brilliant, a pleasure to watch and a privilege to be there.

Player who came on to make his debut was if memory serves me right Alan Evans

Boniek for Juventus - European Cup 1983

Francis for QPR - Hat trick

Ian Rush for Liverpool - Every time we played them

Ian Wright for Arsenal - After being taunted for 90 minutes after he was suspended for the European final, he pops up with a last minute winner. He ran his bollocks off for the whole match. He also let the Holte End know how much he enjoyed his goal.

Terry Cochrane for Boro in the seventies when we always seemed to play them midweek and lose in front of about 15,000.

There was a fair bit of talk pre-game that the manager of the time, I forget who, was very interested in signing him. The reaction he got persueded the board it wouldn't be the most popular course of action.

David White for Man City in the 5-1 at VP.  He got 4 of them.

If we are talking about game winning then Fabregas' 20 minute cameo this season.

Ronaldo EVERY time he played us.

OH and Jussi Jaskelainen for Bolton when we lost 1-0 and battered them.  He got MOTD save of the season from Cahill in that game.

Going back to Ian Wright - wasn't that the match when after he scored, he gave a bit of stick back, but then ended up giving his shirt to some people in the crowd behind the dug out? Doug Out. *waves red card* *waves £ sign* *walks and chants a bit*

It was the game we were singing "Ian Wright, where's your final gone", on account of his impending absence from Arsenals Cup Winners Cup final the following week due to suspension.  When he got his 3rd he turned to the Holte and stood there with his arms raised.
