Spot-fixing in MLB

Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz were charged with fraud, conspiracy and bribery stemming from an alleged scheme to rig individual pitches that led to gamblers winning hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to an indictment unsealed by federal prosecutors Sunday.

Ortiz, 26, was arrested Sunday morning in Boston and will appear in court Monday, according to prosecutors. Clase, 27, is not in custody.

Watched yesterday and they were leading the Americans until they changed the pitcher and then completely fell apart. Do you have to change pitcher? Is it like limited overs cricket where they can only have so many goes? Or did they just change because one gets tired?

Starting Pitchers don’t normally throw more than 80/90 pitches.

It’ll be less in the WBC because it’s a pre-season competition and clubs will have placed limits on how much their players can be involved.

Italy beat the USA yesterday.

The final game in the group is Italy v Mexico.

If Mexico win, but Italy concede less that 5 runs, the USA are out
