Meanwhile, the Cubbies trade Castro and sign Zobrist. This is a great move by Theo & Co. Castro was now surplus to requirement and Zobrist can slot in basically anywhere except Catcher

MLB has had a draft system for 51 years. Junior is the first overall number one pick to make the HOF.

Only one other number one selection, Harold Baines, received enough votes to even stay on the ballot for more than one year.

Chipper Jones should make it two in a couple of years but after that were looking at a gap until potentially David Price and Bryce Harper.

I used to love watching Junior play, when 5 started showing baseball and I decided I needed a team to support I nearly went for the Mariners as they had Johnson, Junior and A-Rod (in the days before he was an asshole), then the Toddmeister talked about the history of the Red Sox and that was that. Back to Junior, his swing was a thing of beauty, shame he had all those injury problems the last decade of his career, who knows what his numbers could have been otherwise.
