I don't have any interest, however i am curious if there are any brits playing in the MLB? You get the odd one pop up in basketball and american football.

None at the moment that I'm aware of.

The most prominent in recent years was pitcher Lance Painter, who retired in 2003.

The most famous British player was Bobby Thomson

The most important Brit involved in baseball (after me, of course) was Harry Wright http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Wright

Something funny about their celebrations, i think it's the ageing bald slightly weighty men bouncing about. I just presumed with how happy they were that it was for the world series! But it was to qualify ... and lose.

That Wright bloke certainly revolutionised the game. I prefer 'Stockings', i might have watched the sport with those names.

When a team decides to have a t-shirt givaway featuring the name of their star player, it would help to spell it correctly

20 years ago.............. The Strike

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11313564/mlb-1994-baseball-strike-effect-tony-gwynn-matt-williams-montreal-expos

Quote
Twenty years ago, baseball played a season that wasn't. Or a season that kind of was. There were at least 112 games per team -- some played a few more -- but no resolution. There were MVPs and Cy Young Awards, but no World Series winner.

Labor issues stopped the game on Aug. 12 and the season was forsaken entirely on Sept. 14. It was the baseball equivalent of an abandoned manuscript found in Salinger's basement, and it doesn't take much imagination to turn the game's roughest first draft into a fairy tale: Tony Gwynn would have become the first player since Ted Williams to hit .400; Matt Williams would have broken Roger Maris' single-season home run record; the Expos would have won the World Series and the team would still be in Montreal, playing in a state-of-the-art downtown ballpark.

Whatyatalkinabout? The Cubs are good.

Baez and Soler are now mainstays of my fantasy team that won the regular season and is currently ahead in the first round of the playoffs

Its tough being a Cubs fan. Just ask Jack White.............

I actually got to wrigley for the first time ever this year. Interesting park. I liked the area a lot and thought it was great.

It was a lot like Fenway, except somewhat less of a dump.
