As for Wrigley, I had been to a few ballparks and they all seemed so sterile, I loved the feel of the place, the stadium and it was a day game (a doubleheader against the Dodgers all for $10) the atmosphere, the stands reminded me of the old trinity and it was a true american tradition. I'm sure Fenway has a similar character that cannot be transferred into the new ballparks, and that is what I love about baseball... you are watching the game in the same surrounding as it was years ago. Next time you go to Chicago give it another chance, i'm sure it will be more enjoyable for you.

I've been to Wrigley the last two seasons and there's definitely an improvement in the way that the place is being looked after.

Great stuff UK Redsox, hope you had a great time... as for the Cubs if their farm system is as good as they say it is and once we off load some of the big salaries we might be contenders again, except for when it comes to the playoffs!

Congratulations to Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven on their election to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The voters gave a resounding "No" to those players guilty/suspected of P.E.D. use.

Next year's list of new eligible candidates is pretty poor, so Barry Larkin should make it in.

I see that the kid killed in the Tucson shootings was Dallas Green's granddaughter

I see that the kid killed in the Tucson shootings was Dallas Green's granddaughter

Such a tragic loss, she was born on September 11th 2001 and unnecessarily died because she enjoyed politics and wanted to go and meet a member of congress as she had recently joined her student council.

Was her Grandfather the scout for the Dodgers?

I think that being manager of the Phillies, Yankees and Mets trumps being "scout for the Dodgers", buy yes, that't the guy

After visiting the "Louisville Slugger Museum Shop", please remember that bats MUST go in your checked luggage

I believe her father is the one who's the Dodgers' scout.

This is amazing!

I am getting excited for the season!

The yankees signed... uh.... Rafael Soriano?!?!  For 11.3 mill per for 3?  with an opt out after 2 years?

ummmmmmm.......

In other news, April 16th will be my son's first Yankee game (Rangers).  He's pumped.  He's also 3, and doesn't understand how the yankees are going to play the Rangers, since the rangers are a hockey team...

Why do so many baseball players take drugs? Surely the game is about timing and natural talent more than raw speed? Obviously I can work out why competitors roid up in cycling or athletics.

For a time the game became less about timing and stringing together base hits ("let's get a rally going") and more about power. The sluggers took over the game.

In the past, one of the measures of a home-run hitters' value as a team player was to multiply his number of homeruns by 3 - if his RBI (runs batted in) total was less than the HR X 3 figure - he was considered less of a team player.
