Been a Red Sox fan since the early 90s. I will get to Fenway one day, dammit!

Its well worth the effort PWS.

THEEEEEE greatest sporting venue of them all

Fenway was the first ballpark I went to (back in 1997). Due to a cock up by the ticket booth (yep, back then you could just turn up and pay on the door) my seat location was moved to row 5, right behind home plate. I was closer to the batter than the pitcher was.

I'll be at Fenway for 10 games in July. The first of those games will be the 200th Major League game that I've attended.

Bas***d! <evilgrin>

Wish I could afford to go over, I'll have to stick with watching games on NASN.

you really cant beat the AL East for stadiums

fenway, camden yards, and old and now new yankee stadium.

you could do all 3 in three or four days too.

Toronto has a great park too, where you can actually get a hotel room and watch the game from the balcony.

Or get up to other things by the windows, as some people have been spotted doing !!

I really like Camden Yards. This year will be one of the few that I don't go there for a game.

I was working in Maryland and in Baltimore a fair bit when they were building Camden Yards, would like to go back there for a game.

I've been to Fenway Park, back in 1987, and also went to see the Twins play at home, forget the name of it, indoor stadium, the something Dome.

That'll be the "Metrodome". The Twins will be moving out soon to their own purpose built ballpark about a mile across town. I had a wander by the building site last spring.

Whilst in Minneapolis last year I also went to a St Paul Saints game. Excellent entertainment.

One of baseball's most famous fans died last weekend

No matter what you might think about Keith Olbermann, this is a superb segment about his Mom

Its also a great opportunity to mention one of the great baseball names.... Chuck Knoblauch !!

This has prob been mentioned already, but am I right in thinking 5 aren't covering baseball anymore?

Even though I watched NASN more, still had a soft spot for 5. Mind, never the same since the Toddmeister left.

You're correct, "Five" have dropped baseball. They were key in my early years as a baseball fan and I watched every game they did for several years. Those two games a week were the only baseball we got here in the UK for ages.

"Five" even did a feature on me one night, which I must get round to putting on Youtube at some point.

You're right about Todd Macklin, he was a superb co-presenter. The programme was never the same after he left.

I stopped being a regular watcher of "Five's" coverage when NASN started and then MLB.tv made all games available.

There were rumours that the BBC might pick baseball up but nothing came of that.

I'm actually in the notice period for cancelling my Setanta subscription (which includes NASN/ESPNAmerica).

I was planning on just using the MLB.tv online service this season. However, MLB.tv is crap at the moment. They've had a bust up with Microsoft and are trying to get a "Flash" player system to work. It's been chaos so far. The picture's jumpy, it freezes and they're very slow making the archive available.

The old system was great. I could use WMRecorder to capture the video streams and then watching them at my leisure. The flash player won't allow this.

I might have to withdraw my cancellation of Setanta if MLB don't get things sorted soon.

Thanks for the update re Five etc mate. Really disappointed because Five probably turned a number of people into ball fans. And Macklin was the best expert they ever had. I remember Tommy Boyd on it!

And a real shame about Adenhart, horrible someone so young goes.

At last someone is fighting back against enforced patriotism at baseball games.

I love baseball but all that "Star Spangled Banner" and "Gold Bless America" stuff gets on my nerves.

On a similar note, whenever they hold one of the (increasingly regular) military parades at Villa Park, I'm the bloke sat down reading the paper.

Militarism like religion has no place in sport.
