They're losing perspective big time down here in Atlanta - fans are blaming the Braves because Smoltz was a greedy bugger and took the big money over playing where his supposed heart is......

then someone asked why chipper jones, who is reportedly quite upset,  didn't offer to take a pay cut so they could keep Smotlz...

and now they want Andruw Jones back! hahahahahahahha what a waste of space - he makes Pat Burrell look consistent!

I remember in 2001, after the yanees second go around, when I found out Ricky Henderson was still playing, I was shocked...

Ken Burns is updating his classic documentary.

"Baseball" is the second best documentary (after The Civil War) from THE greatest documentary maker there is.

It is a good one.  Even people who aren't baseball fans will like it.

I am not sure if you get the MLB network, but on Sunday they are showing a documentary about the Negro Leagues that is supposed to be REALLY good.

The Negro Leagues are my main topic for Baseball reading (strange I know for a white bloke from England). I even had the honour of meeting the late, great Buck O'Neil on a couple of occasions (once at the Negro League Museum in Kansas City and once in Cooperstown).

Youk is my least favorite baseball player of all time.

No joke.

I dislike Youk's stupid hick beard, his stupid wagging of the bat, and his redneck tough guy sawgger...
And it's not a redsux thing, I always liked Manny, and I love Ortiz.  I really do think that I wouldn't like baseball nearly as much if it weren't for the Redsox.
 I just don't like Youk, Schilling or Varitek (the worst "allstar" in the game)


As for Pavano, the guy is actually from where I am from.
think about this...

He crashed a car with a Miss Teen USA contestant.  He didn't admit to what happened, and lied about hitting a garbage truck, drunk, until the story came out and he HAD to admit to it.

The yankees keep paying him, although from what I have heard, since he lied about his injury, they could have petioned against him (this more than likely would not work, but it would cost him a lot of money and aggrevation).

Anyway, they keep paying him, they stand by him etc etc etc...

But after the year ends, and they don't re-sign him (obviously) and he goes somewhere else, he TRASHES the team for... get this... "Not standing by him"!!!!

Can you believe that??!?!?!

It's absurd.

I'll agree with you on Varitek. No amount of "being great with the pitchers" can make up for his complete inability to hit a baseball.

If you want someone truly hateable, how about Jeff Kent ?
