Bosnich was frighteningly good at Villa. He ticked all of the boxes.

Including the box marked `do you want to quit villa for the money, get involved in drugs and home-made porn and road traffic accidents and airhead supermodels, get dropped from the first team and generally piss your career away?' he put a big tick in that fecker.

Drop "quit Villa", "road traffic accidents", "dropped from" and "piss career away" and that last statement sounds rather attractive! :-

Chance would be a fine thing... okay, not bothered about the drugs, to be fair.

so we've narrowed it down to football, home-made porn, alcohol and Sophie Anderton.

fair enough

What about not being able to put a goal kick over the halfway line?

I don't recall that being a continuous trait of his at all. Sounds like a bit of a myth.

Sorry to have to say it but it was a trait of his and I had many an argument with people who said that his other skills outweighed his weakness at taking a goal kick. Get a few videos out and see for yourself.

I agree with dave clark five. So many times me or my Dad would comment that "The problem with Bosnich is he can't kick a ball to a Villa player". I remember one game when the full backs made a concerted effort to give him a throwable option. My Dad said something about how this was a sign of a good team, or something, and some wag said "No, it's a sign of how he can't kick to save his life". Great keeper, very poor distribution. Having said that, though, I think his other skills did outweigh his one major weakness.
