I'm also pretty sure we played the Stripeys on a Friday, last home game in 1978-79.

I had completely forgotten that game. IIRC it was the night before the cup final as I recall the cup final programme was sold in the programme kiosks. Brian Robson absolutely ran the show that night and we were lucky to lose onl y 1-0. My dad must have been feeling flush as he took us in the Witton Lane seats for the first time in my life.

A couple of seasons before that we also played the night before the cup final v QPR. I am pretty certain Sid scored a cracking 25 yarder.

There was another Friday night game we did a programme for. Can anyone remember the circumstances?

I can't think of anymore Villa games so I guess an International or a FA Cup semi-final. One of the 1966 WC games?

I am beaten. Can't think of any. Maybe an abandoned game?

My last guess which is wrong (probably Easter & there is no programme!)

The night before the cup final in 1973 we played a friendly at Wimbledon and for reasons that have never been explained we produced the programme.

Very sneaky. This game (from Wimbledon News 11 May 1973).
They were still non-league then.

I seem to recall playing Forest on a Friday many years ago in the Simod Cup, or was it the Zenith Data Systems Cup.. It's bugging me.

It had changed to the ZDS by then. 22nd December 1989, a Friday. Home game, we won 2-1, Platt (pen) and Mountfield. Att 6,530.

We also played them at home again in the ZDS in 91/92. Lost 0-2, att 7,859.

Was the second game on a Tuesday.... And was it freezing cold?
I remember the holte being empty so the cold was even worse!

I remember ending up in the Wheat Sheaf in Sheldon for a few pre Christmas drinks after the first Forest game. For the second one we had some tickets for the Trinity instead of our usual places on the Holte and it was the coldest I have ever been at Villa Park.
