If we had played a 4-4-2 Vidic would not of been on the edge of our box to score. He would have had to stay back to keep an eye on one of two forwards .......

I believe that job is given to the full backs - centrebacks, especially those like Vidic, are too precious an asset in dead ball situations around the oppostion penalty area to waste on babysitting duties at the back.
