Hadn't Southgate been tapped up by Chelsea before the final?

Was it that year he said he wanted to leave when on England duty,  Ultimately Chelsea let him down and he ended up at Boro?

I couldn't have hated Doug more than during that period when players were leaving and citing lack of ambition.

I vaguely remember Dion inventing a new percussion instrument but it slipped from my memory - what a great video and cool instrument. Great to see Dion with his brothers (who all sport the same hair do) all doing their thing.

From memory Merson, James and Southgate all put in transfer requests after that game. Not sure about Ugo as that season his relationship with JG had broken down already (the comments about him not playing at Coventry due to injury) so think he'd have left regardless.

Reality was our spine of good England players all left within 18 months of that game.

We also didn't sign Carbone full time. He may have been a greedy little bugger but that also sent out the wrong signals.

Yes, I copped that straight away too - funny how memory plays tricks on you, Dion tells the tale as if it was definitely James. Without looking-up the team I think Michael Oakes was in goal, as a member of Gregory's fabled All-British XI.

Yes, I remember  him on the Wembley pitch with Keown after the Liverpool FA cup semi victory and he was totally one of us !

I've watched him on final score a few times and he's been wearing a claret jumper Jason Mohammed as remarked about it and he's said I'm wearing it for the Villa lads.
