Stat I'm really surprised is the most games we've lost in a row in the league under McLeish this season is two. Spurs lost four in a row recently and we did a couple of times under MON. Still of course we also won more games under MON.

Here's a stat. Only 14 clubs have more points than us.

How many of the top 6, even the league, have played as many home grown players as we have this season?  That makes me more proud than anything else written on these pages, and something I dont think any of the other teams can boast.  Brilliant work by the coaches and early talent spotters.  Thats entertainment to me.  Zogman, have you watched Wigan play?  In terms of "football entertainment" I would suggest that they rank well above a lot of teams higher in the league.

I agree.  Blooding all these Academy lads is making this season for me.  If they form the nucleus of future Villa sides then all the frustration will be worthwhile.

I know the point you're making but I fear that if they are the nucleus of the team then we'll be in a division below the one we're in now. For me the team has a slight Paul Kerr, David Norton, Darren Bradley etc feeling to it at the moment and look what happened to that team.

I think this lot are better than their 80s counterparts but generally I don't feel any particular pride if a player comes through the ranks or not.  I like to see good players playing proper football and getting results, I don't much care where they come from, apart form the fact it could save us / make us a few  million if we unearth a few gems.  On the other hand if we ended up producing something like the Ajax group of the early 90s or the recent Barcelona crop, that would be something to be proud of.

When we appointed McLeish I said we will draw all 38 games and go down unbeaten. In points system where in 3 games 1 win, a draw and a loss is better than 3 draws we are suffering from not having a positive approach.

AMac sets his teams up not to lose, rather than to try and win.
Personally I'd like to watch a team that tries to win rather than not lose.

I'd guess we're right near the bottom of the table for hitting the post, so it's not as if we can say we deserved more.

I prefer the one that read 5 clubs have fewer points than us.

That's more comforting.

Even if we were top of that list by a mile I still don't think we could say we deserved more. Hitting a post is still missing.

Does hitting the post/crossbar count as a shot on- or off-target?

It depends how desperate you are for shots on target!

Off target as goal area is defined from inside the post to inside the opposite post and from...you get the idea.

If you want to talk statistics, Bolton have won more games than us AND scored more goals, and look where they are!.

Just goes to show you that winning games is where it's at! Three points for a win, one for a draw negative, defensive football can only take you so far.

Here's a good one: Wolves' clean sheet yesterday was their first since last August. Wonder who that was against?

I know football existed before the Premier league, but our lowest ever Premier League total is 42.

Plus, the football is diabolical.
