If we're going back more than 30 years, the award of worst keeper must go to Evan Williams, who kept goal in the early part of the season we were relegated to the old third division.

Well remembered, Ian....they got him from Wolves on loan for a month, he was pretty awful.
Anybody remember Graham Moseley..signed on loan from Derby I think, he was pretty dire too.
We also signed Blues goalie Jim Herriott on loan around the third division time...thankfully he did'nt play in the first team or this poll would have a clear winner !

Did Lee Butler ever play for us?  I'm sure Spink was ever present in 87-88.

Can anyone tell me why Poole had a run of games at the end of seasons 85-86 and 86-87?  Was Spink injured, out of form?  The first time round, results seemingly improved.

As someone else has said, we've done ok for keepers.  Nobody mentioned Kiraly?

Lee Butler definitely played a few games, I will go for Kiraly though

Lee Butler didn't play enough games to be the worst keeper.  In fact, the only memory of him I have is when he booted the ball up front and we scored from his assist.

Schmeichel was utter, utter shit for us. Enckleman cost us against Blues. Schmeichel, in the second half of his season at the club, was costing us in every game.

Tommy Hughes for me too, heart in the mouth every time the ball went near him. Bit surprised to see Juggling Jim Cumbes in the line-up. I know he made a few blunders but I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that in terms of goals conceded to games played he has statistically been our most successful keeper

Good shout on Tommy Hughes, he used to be brilliant at stopping shots then literally dropped the ball right in front of the goal, he was superb one minute and useless the next in that famous Notts County match, culminating in saving a penalty.
John Dunn was too small to be a 'keeper, again quite a good shot stopper but useless at commanding his box.
John Phillips had a brilliant debut then went a bit downhill but was transferred to Chelsea at a higher level, he also had a problem with crosses.
Jimmy Cumbes also used to drop the ball a lot, check out YouTube and the Albion game when he let Tony Brown's shot through his hands in front of the Holte.
Colin Withers also was prone to the odd mistake, I remember he punched the ball in his own net from a corner in the only goal of a game, I think against Blackburn.
But all of the above used to get quite a lot of practice, when we were pretty crap.

I think that's a bit unfair on Colin Withers. He was an excellent 'keeper in an appallingly bad team. Some games were more like shots-in for the opposition, so it was inevitable that he'd let some in. You're right about him punching the ball into his own net though. It was directly from a corner at the Holte end. It turned out to be his last game and he was sold rather unexpectedly.

John Dunn was just a very poor 'keeper and Jimmy Coombes couldn't go for a whole match without racing out of his goal and leaping for a high ball, only to see it sail over his fingertips.

Lee Butler?

one of Graham Taylors poorer 'prospect' signings
