Heroes Discussion / Re: Pau Torres

Torres being in the side is certainly a positive in terms of the build up play, though what has been really important in the last couple of games is the willingness of defenders - especially the CBs - to travel with the ball into midfield if the opposition do not come out of their shape.

On Thursday night, for example, Konsa carried the ball deep into the opposition half on a number of occasions. It's vital to how we want to progress when in possession and it makes a big difference - not least because it means the opposition cannot rely on getting into shape and being compact.

Torres still worries me. For all that he brings when in possession, he is still a (big) risk when we are out of possession.

Lots of teams will target him. He played well when he came on versus Fulham, but had Jimenez not gone off injured it might have been a different story. UTV

Konsa made some great foraging runs forward against Feyanood that’s why I mentioned it but it’s the first time he’s done it in about two years, it needs to become more than a one off

KKH comes on as sub and assists within 5 minutes.

I have no idea about their full-backs but I’m surprised he’s not starting.

Their first choice is a Dutch guy who has started the season well and keeping him out of the side.

One of our lads having a bit of a paddy over taking a free-kick… and rightly so:

He also assisted the first goal as well.

I think Konsa is even weaker in the air. So Foster will give them a good test in that department tomorrow. The Feyenoord forward has a fair old leap on him but Konsa simply can't be beaten that easily in the air for the knock down when Bizot made his best save after we scored. The same forward put a free header wide in the first half with Konsa awol. Beaten in air again for their goal that wasn't. Bologna caused problems in the air too.

In fairness to Torres, his distribution stats might not have been great but Rogers in particular was caught on his heels repeatedly. Our front two have to do better in holding onto those passes through the lines. From memory Watkins held the ball up well the other night.
I agree that Konsa is suspect when a high, straight ball is played in behind him and he has to turn. Though I think he is better than Torres competing with a striker - particularly one that is physical.

I think Foster will more likely look to isolate Torres for when Burnley look to long into him. UTV.

Markie Meade scores for the under-18s v Newcastle. Highly rated, this fella. McGrath also playing - one of our own. There’s a Ramsey on the bench, presumably Cole?

Edit: Cole it is. On after 12 minutes due to injury.

Wow! Won 7-1. Hat-trick for Meade, 2 for McGrath. Hopefully his dad posts clips on Facebook later if there are any.

Some players are built for captaincy, others are just best left to get on with it.
