If Arsenal do sign Guimarães I don’t then see them lashing out another £120m on Morgan. And our lads lack of playing time at the WC might have cooled a bit of the interest in him. We don’t have to sell him but doing so allows us address other areas. If he does go I hope it’s to a major European side as opposed to PL.

It’s a question of which European side he would suit. Bayern Munich perhaps? They already have Olise a better player than Rogers doing a similar job. Real Madrid perhaps? He’d be something different but would play half the amount of games. Atletico Madrid, Is it a step up? For the sake of his career, staying put is probably best. I wouldn’t rule out ManU as a destination though.

I'll tell you which European side he would suit, Aston Villa.
Why are we discussing which team he could play for when we want him here....don't we?

I’d love him to stay with us and if there is a way for us to bring in required replacements and upgrades to our aging squad while keeping Rogers sign me up. And if SCR wasn’t a thing or we could play under the rules of other clubs with a lot more debt we’d be competing on more even footing. Unfortunately that’s not the case.

Ok, I'm just not bothered which team best suits or where je couñd go, if he were to go.
For what it's worth, we are under no pressure to sell him.

Selling to Arsenal would sicken me, a bigger bag of bellends is difficult to find.

Selling to any of the teams who finished in the top six last season would count as somewhere between counter-productive and a self-inflicted wound and anyone lower than that couldn't afford him and wouldn't appeal to him, anyway.

Yep, i dont get it. We moan when the press try and sell our best players but on here, we seem to be doing a bloody good job of it ourselves.

So if posters on here pretended there was no chance of him going, he'd somehow stay?

Recent posts make a lot of sense. He's a good fit at the Villa, even when accounting for the understandable bias we all have - and I agree, we need to avoid talking ourselves into a position where we are resigned to him going and simply hoping for a good deal.

That said (!) I'm of the view that part of the appeal to Man City in buying Grealish when they did, was that they were preventing him playing for their rivals - giving them a competitive advantage (whether they played him or not).

I hope not, but someone might make the same calculation with Rogers, not least because they recognise that with him, we are one of their rivals. UTV

Well, Martinez has been leaving for the last three seasons.

Is this due to the fluctuating expectations of H&V posters?

Had you considered that it was people wetting their pants over others discussing the possibility that he *could* leave, that kept him at the club?

It would be a little unusual for there to be no reaction to the various media speculation about Roger’s on a thread on a fans site called Morgan Rogers.

hold on a minute. Which of us is trying to sell him? Nobody. But it's a legitimate conversation to have given our financial restrictions that it might happen. It's colossally shit but it's also a reality of where we find ourselves. We do have an aging squad and to replace the level of quality they represent it will take us to either be very clever and successful in the market with prospects like Rogers or go out and swing for some bigger names. The latter being something we cannot do without a major sale.
