How can Tammy not start after Ollies performances since he Tammy joined.

Bailey again, great!

Good to see Cash fit to start, and playing Mings also seems sensible in this one. No injuries to Martinez, please!

Can quibble about one or two of the starters but essentially we should have enough to beat this shower.

Not sure what Tammy has to do to get a start. Watkins, urgh. Hope he plays a blinder today having said that.

Think it's going to be a tough afternoon.

Yes but I'd prefer Tammy to start. Think Watkins will be bullied by these cloggers.

I’m surprised it’s Bailey over Sancho who’s been looking very good lately. Glad Cash is back.

Massive game for Onana and Luiz. Three points, no excuses.  I really hope Unai knows what he's doing today. A couple of early Villa goals, please followed by a second half onslaught would do very nicely.

Sancho hasn't been very good since maybe his first spell with Dortmund. His cameo v Leeds was gutless in the extreme earlier this season.

Yeah, this is where I am now. Losing potentially four out of five at home against mid to lower table teams isn't good enough, no matter who is missing. Worst thing is I was expecting this today.

I’m genuinely losing count now of how many poor halves we have had this season. Saved by the odd screamer from 30 yards which we have also stopped doing.

For all we can say about the missing players, we should be far better than this with the players that are out there. It's not like Leeds have a world class midfield we're up against.

Agree. No excuses whatsoever

Boo's at Villa park, Unai needs to change this, he has to, that was rubbish, big weekend with the other fixtures, I expect Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea all to win, they will be right on our backs.

Thought Emi could have done much better with that free kick, from that distance, total crap, the problem we have is that Leeds have choke points all over the midfield and are cutting us off, when we do break the strangle hold we need Ollie to be at the game, he just isn't.

Its over to you Unai.

Why is it so hard to cross a fucking ball? Sort it out Luiz

Put a couple of cracking deliveries in the last couple of minutes. Been poor though. Had to equalise there. We look so flat, letting a woeful team feel their way into the game and now being again. DCL bullying Konsa in particular.

Changes - Lindelof or Torres for Mings, they are letting Mings have the ball. Tammy for Ollie. Rogers who has been beyond useless out to the left. Even to switch with Buendia. Can easily get back into this but need change in personnel and attitude.

Pathetic across the park. This is down to team selection, Bailey a winger who only passes backwards and can't beat a man, Watkins try as he might is past it and Luiz just not enough. Their goal is down to Martinez and sloppy positioning. Here we are again chasing a bottom side who are creating better chances. Emery has got this team all wrong today.

Abysmal again, bar the last 5 mins.

I'm afraid this way of playing is not going to work with the personel currently available. The ball is being played too slowly out of the back, (Mings again) and we are taking too many touches in midfield and this results in Rogers barely getting a kick

We have no creativity because the central two only play back and square.

Buendia isnt good enough. Oh yeah, and we need to end the Bailey experiment now. He is dreadful, lighweight and clumsy in possession. He was crap first time round apart from a 3 month spell. He is even worse now.

I would get 2 up front and try and swamp them with the early ball to see if they can cope. Otherwise, we lose this match.

We lose so much passing ability and being able to move the ball from the back when Mings plays instead of Pau. Bailey is just being Bailey which means predictable and ineffective. Watkins has continued his patch form. Emery needs to make changes at HT not after 65 mins. Sancho and Abrahams needed on now.

Yup. It's means everything happens fifteen yards further back as a result.

Not to say that bringing Pau would suddenly bring the front four out of their collective funk though.

On the bright side, we were 1-0 down at half-time in the reverse fixture and went on to win it. Let's just do that again.

Leeds are a physical side, if not much else and Mings has handled DLC well most times he's played him previously.

Pau needs to improve when it comes to physical duels - as the manager has said himself numerous times now.

If he was better at that he'd prob be a guaranteed first team pick.

But he's not and subsequently isn't.

It’s not just the players. It’s the game plan. That starts with the manager. He talks about needing energy from the crowd. The players job is to generate that energy and the crowd, many paying obnoxious amounts of money will look after the rest. The tactics are shit. And at home it has been for a good while now.

I know Emery loves Ollie for what he has done for him since he came here but the worry it is it becomes a blind spot. It’s also a bigger conversation to be had about the rest of the squad and how we have failed to bring in many starting players in Emery’s time with us.

If we are going to be into the CL then Emery needs to fundamentally change his structure which he lives and dies by. At least until SJM and Youri get back. It’s too rigid, too reliant on the same players and systems. Tammy brings a different way of playing. Use him. Stop persisting with Ollie all the time. And if Ollie sulks well he can fuck off until he plays better.

Yep. I’m all for giving him all the praise for the entire body of work. But right now he’s stuck in a rut. Every home game where we used to take the game to teams has become the same turgid bollocks. No doubt losing three massive players in terms of quality and the system has really hurt us. But the drop off should not have been this steep. And in truth against bang average sides.
