Very poor defensively again, got what we deserved.
-
Complacent.
-
Sorry but players played as if Wednesday is their priority. NGE.
-
Two points dropped. Far too casual when in front and we can't defend for toffee.
-
For me the difference between us now and us this time last season is Kamara
-
Now that WAS a shit performance. Philogene - what’s the point?
-
Sat on half team lead, didn't deserve to win.
-
Very disappointing and if we don't put in a massive performance on Wednesday, it's going to seem even worse.
-
Emery needs to rip into this lot, poor poor poor,
-
We spent a fortune this summer yet we look as bad if not worse defensively
I cannot believe none of the recruitment team thought signing a right back would be a good idea.
Really poor result
-
Very poor.
Wrong side selected and then followed by the wrong subs.
Onana weakness hopefully now obvious to all and Ipswich deliberate tactic putting the ball behind our full backs as called by Ashley Young. Konsa is not a right back!
-
All over the place at the back. Subs didn't work today. That's a really poor 2 points dropped given the lack of quality in the opponents . At least we didn't lose .
-
That was really poor all over the pitch. Shit in defence, crap in midfield and only Watkins came out of the game with any credit.
Anybody thinking Konsa is a right back should be forced to rewatch this game. Twice.
-
Fuck Ipswich, and fuck Stuart fucking Atwell.
-
Very disappointing by the overall performance in midfield and defence. Never gave ourselves a proper chance to establish a cadence in the game through poor decisions and mistakes. We will have games like this in a long season but the overall defensive play is very concerning. Top 4 teams don’t defend this season way and we have been fortunate by the opponents we’ve face in the first 6 games.
-
Poor defensively, lazy, half arsed and slow on the ball.
Play like that on Wednesday night it will be embarrassing
-
Now that WAS a shit performance. Philogene - what’s the point?
He was a complete waste of a substitution.
-
Poor from both Konsa and Carlos for the 2nd. Jaden offers nothing whatsoever.
Looked off it all over the pitch and I hope it's the precursor to something memorable on Weds.
-
Now that WAS a shit performance. Philogene - what’s the point?
Yes very lightweight and bullied off the ball.
But not to blame for the defeat. Hopefully he will learn.
-
And that Carlos I had enough
-
Watching the replays of Diego Carlos for their equalizer is just plain embarrassing.
-
Taking Digne off when we had that free kick on the edge of the box was a strange decision
-
Well that was shit.
-
Such a slack and complacent performance. Ipswich were also all over Liverpool in their first game, but the difference is Liverpool realised, hey we need to actually play well to beat these. Our players strolled around waiting for the win to land in our lap.
-
I thought Ipswich had a high percentage of bellends. Delap, their stumpy captain. Twats
I thought we were a bit rubbish.
Few players need to get their fingers out - Bailey, Onana, Ramsey
A few others seem utterly pointless - Carlos, Philogene
Konsa shouldn't be playing in the position he's playing in.
-
Rubbish, but they definitely should have gone down to ten men when we were winning.
-
We should be demanding a explanation why that was not a second yellow. Absolutely shocking decision. He did 3 other fouls before. Its pathetic
-
Crap defence, been totally sussed out there, midfield evaporated in the second half and we couldn’t have complained if it had been four or so to Ipswich.
-
Very poor
Konsa cost us two . Alot of poor performances today . Defence is rubbish at the moment.
Jaden was very meh when he came on. Too many with Munich in their minds.
-
Very meh. Totally in control then threw it away.
Diego Carlos was shocking and Konsa not far behind.
-
Not ruthless enough by half. Could have gone top tonight. Too many players not at the races. Defensively very worrying as we haven't played anyone any good yet, other than Arsenal. Konsa, Carlos were poor, Torres is good going forward but lacks defensively. Two points dropped. I don't rate Philogene. We seemed really lacklustre all over the pitch, almost like they've been out on the piss last night.
-
Ipswich played very well. They’ll give a lot of teams a game there this season. As for our defence and Carlos in particular dear oh dear. Bayern I’m actually already watching through my fingers. Carlos needs to be dropped and konsa returned as soon as Cash is available again.
-
Two teams in the bottom three have conceded the same amount as us (9).
-
Languid and weak. This back line are going to get torn several shitters Wednesday night.
-
Taking Digne off when we had that free kick on the edge of the box was a strange decision
and what a great free kick it was.
-
He has to start trusting Kosta for the sake of the balance of the side. And maybe put three in the centre of midfield.
-
First half wasn't that great but second half was appalling. Whatever it was even the subs seemed affected and couldn't lift us.
If we can't handle this lot I fear for them against Mussiala, Olise, Kane etc.
-
Two points pissed away.
Konsa is not a right back.
Onana and Ramsey passengers.
Too many stray passes.
Can we sign an out of contract RB on loan before January?
-
Both Bogarde and Philogene look miles away from top flight players which leaves us light.
-
Poor performance.
What I will say is 2-1 up and the ref bottles sending off that Morsy twice. He does his job we go on to win against
10.
-
I wish we weren't playing those gigantacunts next weekend.
They've got thousands of more ****** than Ipswich, and they'll thrive if we play like that.
-
Everyone’s grumbling but two teams play football and Ipswich were superb. It may turn out to be a decent point.
We played some great stuff going forward and defended badly. Carlos is truly awful. No longer the Sevilla player.
-
A game we should've won but could easily have lost at the end.
Just seemed content to manage things at 2-1 up but it's harder to do that away from VP.
As I thought in the build up a high energy team like Ipswich was exactly the worst opponent for us to face three days before Bayern Munich. Compare them to Leicester who for an hour basically just sat back and let us half the ball. I think they'll stay up.
Still we can't win every week away so a point isn't a disaster. Please can we sign a new RB soon as it really weakens us having to play Konsa there continually, embarrassing how easily Carlos just let Delap get on his left foot.
-
Carlos isn’t anywhere near good enough. He was owned by a fucking massive donkey up front and made him look like Haaland. Just shockingly bad. The 1st goal was poor goal keeping too.
When Rogers went off we ran out of ideas. JJ… jeez, he looks half the player he was before the injury. I really hope he can rediscover his form.
-
The attitude was worrying again, Ipswich wanted it more.
The set up not right, what a terrible ref Atwell is.
How they are not down to 10 when the dirty twat with the beard puts in 2 really bad fouls.
Also Watkins should have been given a penalty.
We didn’t deserve to win though.
-
That was woeful. Mings and Kamara can't come back fast enough. Konsa at right back has never worked, what has happened to Ned? Isn't he a right back? Emery doesn't rust him it seems but is Konsa a better option?
For all the defensive errors I thought we lost the ball far too many times in midfield.
Too many thinking of Wednesday.
Ipswich the better side as much as I can't believe I'm saying that it's true.
-
I don't see what Philogene is offering at the moment, too many poor performers today.
-
I think Carlos for the second goal is perhaps the worst piece of 1v1 defending I've seen so far this season. It's just laughably bad how much he fell for the step-over and gave him a completely free hit with his left.
Disappointing result, but we clearly took our foot off the gas at 2-1 and paid the price for it. They should have been down to 10, but that's not much of an excuse, because they were better that us in the second half.
I said before the game that Delap was talented. He'll get a few this season, but I doubt he'll be gifted many easier than the chance he got when Carlos went walkabout...
-
Two points dropped very disappointing. The goals against should not be allowed to happen. Yes Philogene doesnt seems bothered kind of and also Bailey not into it at our right and leaves the from before vulnerable RB open. Philogene dosent seem ready and Emery should know that.
-
Thought we were very comfortable and in control in the second half. Our right side defensively lost us the game. Konsa high gives the ball away. They counter and he out of position. Carlos so poor one on one with Delap and it's 2-2. How they didn't get a player sent off was incredible. Ref bottled it...
-
Toon many players haven't got going this season yet - Martinez, Bailey, Ramsey and Konsa. Then you've got Carlos who isn't and never will be good enough.
-
Languid and weak. This back line are going to get torn several shitters Tuesday night.
No chance whatsoever.
-
Disgraceful second half, Philogene did himself no favours and Emery made the wrong changes at the wrong time. Barkley should have been on much earlier. I can only presume he had an eye on midweek. Every time we attacked second half the ball was held up and a succession of sideways and backwards passes ensued. We don't have a decent winger on form at the moment so no pace. I said in the half time comments that Konsa is not a right back and sorry to say I was proved right, way out of position for their second. Ipswich deserved the three points.
-
Watkins had a decent game
Everyone else was a bit rubbish
-
Languid and weak. This back line are going to get torn several shitters Tuesday night.
Let’s hope they recover in time for wednesday night.
-
Konsa at CB and anyone else at RB please, even Gauci can't be as bad as Konsa is there just lately.
-
Languid and weak. This back line are going to get torn several shitters Tuesday night.
No chance whatsoever.
Don't know what you're talking about.
-
When did we have our foot on the gas today? We were lazy and half arsed on the ball all game
-
I don't get it with Philogene, at all. Why were we so desperate to bring him back? Doesn't even look as good as Archer or Iroegbunam to be honest.
-
Toon many players haven't got going this season yet - Martinez, Bailey, Ramsey and Konsa. Then you've got Carlos who isn't and never will be good enough.
Though he'll be disappointed with the first, I thought Martinez made a couple of very good saves. The 1v1 vs Delap is scored against 90% of other goalies.
As for Carlos, I wouldn't be disappointed if we never see him in the shirt again. We're clearly light at centre-back, and Tyrone can't come back quick enough.
-
We’re playing Wednesday
-
At least Konsa has a history of five years of excellent performances. Diego Carlos has City and Arsenal, plus a load of complacent shite. For their second, the way he was sent packing into a crowd of players, rather than reading the turn into space, was fucking pathetic. I know we were trying to get rid in the summer, but him out the door with a quality replacement coming in needs to go as equal priority with signing a right back.
Everyone else has higher standards and happy to call this an off day, which inevitably happen several times over a full season. Apart from Philogene, who has much to prove and isn't doing so yet.
-
Disappointing.
-
Both Bogarde and Philogene look miles away from top flight players which leaves us light.
I cannot believe we replcaed diaby with Philogene. Honestly who thought that was a good idea
-
0 corners sums up that dross perfectly.
-
Poor recruitment.
Should have blown the budget on a right back, not a left back.
Additionally, too much money spent on players not actually helping the cause this year (out on loan).
Actually, no team looks really convincing this year. We could have had a real go… missed opportunity.
-
Everyone’s grumbling but two teams play football and Ipswich were superb. It may turn out to be a decent point.
We played some great stuff going forward and defended badly. Carlos is truly awful. No longer the Sevilla player.
Great stuff going forward? Really? How many shots on target did we have in the second half? I think you'll find it was a big fat zero.
-
Languid and weak. This back line are going to get torn several shitters Tuesday night.
No chance whatsoever.
Don't know what you're talking about.
Haha you’ll get there soon
-
I think MArtinez earned us a point with some good first half saves. Konsa and Carlos are the weaklinks on those positions at the moment - there's not a great deal of options though.
-
Languid and weak. This back line are going to get torn several shitters Tuesday night.

Don't know what you're talking about.
I guarantee they won’t be. Wednesday, maybe…

Shit in defence, crap in midfield and only Watkin came out of the game with any credit.
Martinez saved us. It's games like today where McGinn would have got us working, we really missed him, the midfield don't link with the defence or attack. Unai needs to take a serious look at his tactics too. For starters, Ramsey isn't a tiny fraction of the player we know and love when he's playing with his back to goal.
Asa for Whipshit, they can take their thuggish football back to the Championship whilst losing the couple of decent players they have.
-

Great stuff going forward? Really? How many shots on target did we have in the second half? I think you'll find it was a big fat zero.
One that I can remember, Barkley's piledriver, but that was about it. Far too tippy tappy and not ruthless enough.
-
Largely unimpressive, which will happen from time to time. But we really need to sort out the defence.
-
I don't get it with Philogene, at all. Why were we so desperate to bring him back? Doesn't even look as good as Archer or Iroegbunam to be honest.
Should have signed Clarke instead. Really good in a poor Sunderland side last season
-
Suboptimal.

I like onana and glad we signed him but 50m?? That was too much for him on waht ive seen so far. Hw is really inconsistent
Im glad we got maatsen but we desperately needed a right back. Why we didnt get one ill never know. Honestly it makes zero sense to me.
Munich will kill us on that side Wednesday night
-
We played like a team who didn't know whether to 'stick or twist'!!
The Bayern match has cost us 2 points already.
Sort it out Unai >:(
-
One of the very rare, truly shite performances. Where there are too many players to be critical of. Konsa and Carlos absolutely killed us with a mixture of laziness and lack of talent.
Ramsey offered absolute zero going forward. We looked like a mid table team without Rogers and Watkins on the pitch.
We had periods of control whilst creating nothing, then every single time we lost control we looked really, really vulnerable.
A turd of a performance.
-
Our defending was a massive steaming pile of shit. Absolute mare of a game for Konsa and Carlos not far behind.
Play with such complacency against Bayern and we will get slaughtered.
-
We wouldn't keep a clean sheet against Walsall at the moment and today was the day it finally caught up with us. Konsa/Carlos axis an absolute nightmare all game. Their goals came when we were in cruise control the game, I thought Ipswich had ran out of all ideas until the chuckle brothers combined for their equaliser. Ipswich were so poor at the back we should be scoring more than two, we overplayed a bit too much at times. Philogene looks nowhere near ready either.
Martinez 6 - two brilliant saves somewhat made amends for failing to stop the first
Konsa 2 - horrid. Tucking in far too narrow all game and gave the ball away constantly like for their second goal.
Carlos 2 - rubbish, idiotic free kick given away early on for another error strewn performance. Sent for a bag of chips for the equaliser.
Torres 7 - ropey at times when ran at but saved a certain goal and decent on ball
Digne 5 - solid defensively but we need a lot more going forward in that position. Emery should have started Maatsen today
Onana 6 - anonymous first half but much better after the break I thought
Tielemans 6 - bit of a lazy performance, would have brought Barkley on sooner for him
Bailey 6 - decent first half and assist but disappeared in second half, dummied himself twice
Ramsey 6 - poor first half but much better after the break. Needs to improve first touch
Rogers 7 - fine first half and unless he was injured that was a mistake to replace him so early
Watkins 7 - bullied their defence...until Duran came on and that killed his impact
Philogene looks way off it and Duran didn't make an impact today. Buendia, Barkley and Maatsen all did ok and will be disappointed they weren't brought on earlier
-
Very poor.
Wrong side selected and then followed by the wrong subs.
Onana weakness hopefully now obvious to all and Ipswich deliberate tactic putting the ball behind our full backs as called by Ashley Young. Konsa is not a right back!
In a really poor performance from most of the team, to single out Onana, who wasnt brilliant as no one was, but was no way near our worst player, just comes across as you trying to prove your point about him, that you’ve made several times for a number of weeks.
-
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins speaking to Sky Sports: "They always put a lot of pressure on us and we couldn't really implement our game plan. Ipswich were always on to us and it was a bit of a basketball game which is what they wanted but we didn't.
"It was a difficult game and I think a point is a fair result. We didn't get it right in the final third, we could have been more ruthless myself included.
"A point is a fair result but disappointing because there were a lot of opportunities for us. They kept putting pressure on us, they're here at home, the made runs in behind and we grinded the result out in the end."
On facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek: "Everybody is ready, there's a buzz around the club. Last year was special and this will be even better this year in the Champions League. You want to play in the best games in the world."

Yes, sorry forgot about that one. A fine effort it was too.

And another thing everyone moaning about Cash before he got injured but now missing him like mad
Same goes for McGinn
-
And another thing everyone moaning about Cash before he got injured but now missing him like mad

Cashy has his flaws but the last month has shown that he knows the position compared to some of the others we've tried so for know he remains our best option there until we sign someone better.
Ned has potential but he has been unused for a month in the prem so clearly Unai feels he isn't quite up to this level yet.
We need a transfer window that results in Konsa only playing one game at five at RB. Instead it seems we're going back to playing him in four out of five games at RB due to one injury.
As we saw for the Ipswich second it weakens us in both positions as Carlos was abysmal one v one and we know that Kons is very good in that type of situation.

One that I can remember, Barkley's piledriver, but that was about it. Far too tippy tappy and not ruthless enough.
Ramsey put a pretty decent chance over just after they scored.
-
Whats concerning for me is we rested a majority of the team vs wycombe so should have been fresh for this one yet we were really bad. Lucky to get a point.
It did feel at times players were trying not to get injured foe the munich game. Not aggressive enough.
That midfield without mcginn really struggled
-
Bullied by Ipswich, comical defending from Carlos yet again.
-

The one that went 30 yards over the bar? Doesn't count as on target. Ramsey should have done a lot better with it.
-
I don't get it with Philogene, at all. Why were we so desperate to bring him back? Doesn't even look as good as Archer or Iroegbunam to be honest.
I'll give him time to get up to speed but i really hope he's not one of those 'too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Prem' types.
-
The media has been labelling us the comeback kings. Seems like the team believed them, thinking that a win for us was inevitable

Yep passed it to an overlapping Digne for a start.

Ipswich were imo the worst sort of team we could've played away three days before Bayern Munich. They remind me a bit of how Luton were last year and we just about won there after a torrid second half.
I think they'll stay up as they're more positive than Leicester who probably have a better starting 11.
They've played six games in prem now and they've only lost to Liverpool and Man. City so they're a long way from being no hopers at this level. Think they'll take points off the likes of Newcastle and Spurs if they can keep that 11 fit.
-

Which had Row Z written all over it as soon as it was awarded.

We seemed to have the game in our pocket at 2-1 up but had no clue how to switch it back up once they equalised. Duran was given nothing to work with; he ended up doing more in defence than attack

Reasonable words from the good man there, had a good game most of the time.
-
This was has left me very grumpy, a complacent performance and an early missed opportunity.
-
Anybody would think we'd lost today! We missed McGinn and Cash. It'll be different when they're both fit along with Mings and Kamara.
-
Very disappointing freekick from Buendia when he came on. Wasted a good opportunity.
-
Pretty poor, but still would have won if the referee wasn't a coward. I'll forgive them if they win the next two.
-
The referee not sending off their thug of a number 5 was pivotal. But when you have a defence that leaves huge gaps to exploit you are likely to let goals in. Our goals against stats are alarming. We're lacking leadership and hopefully the return of Mings will address that. When Konsa made his kamikaze run and brainless pass Carlos was woefully out of position. Why didn't it occur to him to shuffle over to the right once he saw Konsa going forward? The amount of space that was given to Delap to run into was Sunday league levels of defending.
-
And another thing everyone moaning about Cash before he got injured but now missing him like mad
Same goes for McGinn
We really looked like we couldn't get a grip on midfield without SJM
-

We were conceding just as many goals with McGinn in the side.

Think Konsa is not really as bad as Carlos in this one.
You think Emery move Konsa right to have a more solid right back as Baily doesnt help defense much.
But that means he have to play Carlos or Bogarde and both been crap all season.
Emery wants some form on a 3rd CB until Mings is back (if ever).
I prefer that he just play Kosta RB and Konsa with Pau as CB tbh.
Konsa support an isolated new RB way better then Diego Carlos can.
It worked better when the problem was Cash as RB. It will work better with Kosta as RB.
Carlos give us some muscle in set peices defense but he is slow and lazy with keeping up with a high line.
And quite frankly he goes napping every time the RB joins the attack.
Both of those things was evident at their equalizer.
-
Thought JJ was one of the few at the races in the second half - most of our fluid moves came through him, I felt.
Also thought Torres played well, including defensively. Honorable mentions for Onana, Tielemans, Digne, Ollie and Martinez (overall). Barkley made a positive impact in his brief cameo.
The rest were below par, but special mention for Carlos. Konsa was at least partially at fault in both goals. Bailey can’t seem to get any rhythm in his game right now, and Philogene was poor when he came on - in his defence, he needs minutes. Rogers allowed himself to get distracted by the niggly Ipswich press. Duran needs to stop trying to turn his man every time he receives the ball back to goal, especially given his strength.
-
Let's move on and discuss Bayern Munich.
-
Really poor performance - lucky to come away with a point. No excuses, we should have seen that out from 2-1 up - but just didnt turn up second half. There number 5 should have been sent off.
Our right side today was woeful, Bailey has started the season slowly - Konsa at right back and Carlos at CB doesnt work. Not sure what the young RB is doing in training - but it must be bad. We need to sort it out, as were just gifting way too many goals.
Thought Onana and Ramsey were poor today - after having been broadly impressed with them so far this season. Jayden - verdict very much out on him - certainly weaker there currently compared to having Diaby.
Its difficult to know quite what to make of us at the sec. We haven't played well yet this season - but are still 5th - but cant help but think its because, Arsenal aside, we have played some poor teams.
-
Frustrating two points dropped against the worst side we'll play all season. Far too complacent & lacking any sort of intensity, clearly we had one eye on next Wednesday night.
We should have come out second half to finish the job, instead we strolled around & hoped our leaky defence would hold out.
Other than the odd outlier performance, Carlos has never been good enough & Konsa looked like a player who didn't want to be there.
We won't be keeping a clean sheet anytime soon.
-
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins speaking to Sky Sports: "They always put a lot of pressure on us and we couldn't really implement our game plan. Ipswich were always on to us and it was a bit of a basketball game which is what they wanted but we didn't.

Reasonable words from the good man there, had a good game most of the time.
Yeah it definitely felt like we had one eye on Wednesday. Perhaps it unfair to expect the team to be completely able to block it out of their minds until the final whistle went today.
Anyway it's P6 W4 D1 L1 GD+3, Posn 5/20. That...is good
-
Until Cash is back Uni has to play Ned. It's unbalancing the team playing Konsa out of position. He was very very poor today. It's simply not possible to finish top four letting in the goals we have.
-
Our counter attacking is shit at the moment. So many times we burst forward, then either give it away with a terrible pass, or knock it 50 yards back giving the defence time to regroup. Rubbish.
-
Let's move on and discuss Bayern Munich.
::)
-
I thought Ramsey was poor today. Summed up by that terrible shot where he could have slipped Digne in and there were two waiting in the middle.
-
We wouldn't keep a clean sheet against Walsall at the moment and today was the day it finally caught up with us.
I'm normally raise a smile with bronte's L'Equipe style ratings but this is absolutely spot on.
-
And yeah the REF was absolutely horrible.
There was at least 2 reds on Ipswich.
Once our midfielders was getting butchered and Ref was letting it happen , its somewhat understandable that some players like to keep both legs for Bayern...
-
When Konsa made his kamikaze run and brainless pass Carlos was woefully out of position. Why didn't it occur to him to shuffle over to the right once he saw Konsa going forward? The amount of space that was given to Delap to run into was Sunday league levels of defending.
It was a midfielder's job to make the cover as there was acres of space before he even got close to Carlos. Kamara reads the game so well, he'd have covered that space seeing Konsa in an advanced position. Today was there nobody.
-
Everyone’s grumbling but two teams play football and Ipswich were superb. It may turn out to be a decent point.
We played some great stuff going forward and defended badly. Carlos is truly awful. No longer the Sevilla player.
Great stuff going forward? Really? How many shots on target did we have in the second half? I think you'll find it was a big fat zero.
One that I can remember, Barkley's piledriver, but that was about it. Far too tippy tappy and not ruthless enough.
Ramsey put a pretty decent chance over just after they scored.
You’re all forgetting Buendia’s close effort free kick
Which had Row Z written all over it as soon as it was awarded.
Still counts as an attempt…..just
-
Very poor, seemed like the team was thinking about Bayern game, no go about them.
Get Konsa back in middle of defense for next week, and get Carlos out of the team.
Thought Ramsey was poor.
-
And another thing everyone moaning about Cash before he got injured but now missing him like mad
Same goes for McGinn
We really looked like we couldn't get a grip on midfield without SJM
We were conceding just as many goals with McGinn in the side.
We’d have won that game with McGinn imo
We’ll miss him while he’s out
-
Kamara is the biggest miss - I think hes our most important player - bar maybe Watkins.
Hes reading of the game, and composer is unquie within our squad. We have some very good midfielders - but he offers something different to all of them.
-
Whats concerning for me is we rested a majority of the team vs wycombe so should have been fresh for this one yet we were really bad. Lucky to get a point.
It did feel at times players were trying not to get injured foe the munich game. Not aggressive enough.
That midfield without mcginn really struggled
Ipswich were imo the worst sort of team we could've played away three days before Bayern Munich. They remind me a bit of how Luton were last year and we just about won there after a torrid second half.
I think they'll stay up as they're more positive than Leicester who probably have a better starting 11.
They've played six games in prem now and they've only lost to Liverpool and Man. City so they're a long way from being no hopers at this level. Think they'll take points off the likes of Newcastle and Spurs if they can keep that 11 fit.
Although i agree i think if we played better we would have won it easy. We were so poor with the ball ans our counter attacking was so bad. We moved the ball around so slowly i just don't understand why we dint try get the ball forward quicker at times. We slow down then just look for the side or back pass.
Ipswich were counter attacking excellently yet they dont have the players we do.
I thought the subs were not great either. They made minimal impact today
-
I think there could have been subconscious complacency at 2 1 up. We could have ended up losing in the end.
They saw where we were weaker down our right and kept playing balls in behind.
Konsa at RB weakens us in two places, so shouldn't we mitigate and play him at CB and play Nedeljkovic?
Bailey set up Watkins, but was off key, Onana was too languid today and Ramsey isn't clicking yet. Based on today and the other bit parts this season, I don't get the point of Philogene as there was no outlet when he came on.
-
I’ve been saying it for a while, and I’m far from the only one, we are just too poor defensively and have been from the start of the year. We pretty much always concede one and pretty regularly concede two. It’s also generally really sloppy play that allows it, and it’s against weaker sides.
For all of our attacking quality, if we don’t start to control games better and take more pride in our defending we’ll fall away. We simply won’t be able to sustain scoring two plus goals each game to accumulate points.
-
Anybody would think we'd lost today! We missed McGinn and Cash. It'll be different when they're both fit along with Mings and Kamara.
We should be beating Ipswich anyway. They are a poor team. I thought their LB, Davis, was decent, Phillips was good and Delap a decent presence up top. But their keeper, Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Greaves, the guy who should have been sent off...seemed miles off PL standard. We were cruising against them in about second gear for most of the second half.
-
The return of Mings should make a huge difference
-
Least we're not Utd.Or Wolves.
-
Now that WAS a shit performance. Philogene - what’s the point?
he got into a good position on several occasions but ball not played to him. Not his fault for that.
-
Piss-poor all game; very few chances created and we were dragged into a dogfight that we should have avoided. Don't get me wrong: I was expecting a draw but the manner of our performance really disappointed. Particularly, their second goal was poor; bad decision-making and execution by Konsa (one of our senior players).
We were bullied, meaning that Ramsey disappeared early on, Bailey was ineffectual until he got to the line and crossed (we scored) and Onana didn't really impose himself.
-
Our counter attacking is shit at the moment. So many times we burst forward, then either give it away with a terrible pass, or knock it 50 yards back giving the defence time to regroup. Rubbish.
Digne is a problem in this part of our game. He's miles behind the play when we break and hasn't the legs to get in behind anymore. Maatsen should have started today to test him out properly.
-
Anybody would think we'd lost today! We missed McGinn and Cash. It'll be different when they're both fit along with Mings and Kamara.
Feels like a loss to me
-

Yeah big 2 points dropped. Top 4 you have to win these games
-
Maatsen is better going forward but Digne is better defensively. Maatsen almost set them up for a goal with a wayward pass.
-
And another thing everyone moaning about Cash before he got injured but now missing him like mad
Same goes for McGinn
Indeed John. Injured players become legends. Same was the case with Tyrone.
-
Now that WAS a shit performance. Philogene - what’s the point?
he got into a good position on several occasions but ball not played to him. Not his fault for that.
In the last seconds of the game he gets the ball his one job is to try and create a last chance by just getting the ball into the box
He fucks about and loses it, it’s unbelievably poor
-
We didn’t play too well, very much like Liverpool against Wolves yesterday, just not on it at all. Glad to get the point in the end.
-
Of course we all realise that FFP fucked us over as there is no way Unai or Monchi were going to be happy going into this season with Carlos - and we know they had his replacement lined up but we couldn’t. Just buy him without getting rid of the problem
So cut Unai some slack guys
-
FFP hqs just slowed our march to world. Domination

100% this.
-
Watching Spppuurrrrssss just now makes me realise what a quick, incisive break looks like - we are sooo slow on the break sometimes.
Re our defence, I wanted Nedeljkovic too okay today: having a bit of zip on the right would have been welcome, and I think his defending has looked pretty okay so far .
-
We were completely in control of the game in the 2nd half, before they scored, but we only seemed interested in keeping possession, rather than creating chances and we paid for it. Couldn't see the logic in subbing Ollie and in the end only one team looked like getting the winner and it wasn't us. Finally longing for the days, when are CBs are Tyrone and Ezri!
-
Reminded me of the forest game last season.
Poor performance, but not the end of the world.
-
My main worry is we, be lost two important players in the transfer window and seem to have downgraded although I guess the return of Mings and Kamara can help things.
The window seems awful in hindsight. I do question Monchi.
I am worried about this season.
Bruno Fernandes straight red card for Manchester United means he misses the game against us next weekend.

Re our defence, I wanted Nedeljkovic too okay today: having a bit of zip on the right would have been welcome, and I think his defending has looked pretty okay so far .
The thing with Nedeljkovic is he's a natural right back he knows about positioning and the way you need to support both defense and attack and it just brings a better shape to the team. Konsa doesn't have that RB vibe in my view.

If we start slagging off Uri Emery,I might as well give up on football

I think until Cash is back we need to just go with Ned at RB. Need to get Konsa away from RB and back in his best position, and we need to get Carlos as far away from the pitch as possible
-
Shit ref and we didn't look arsed, pretty much got what we deserved.

Completely agree.
-
Or call Moreno back, if we can, and stick whichever of our three excellent left backs has the best right foot at right back until Cash is fit/January. Just stop playing Carlos. It's killing us.
Also, first person to slag off Matty Cash when he's back in the team is getting a knock on the door.

Ned did very little to suggest midweek that he's ready for PL football. I've never been a fan of moving our best CB to RB to accommodate Carlos.

Impossible not to agree with this. I think Konsa is ok at right back but we desperately need him alongside Pau in the middle so Ned/Bogarde whatever it takes until Cash is back. Massively regret not signing a first teamer in this position over the summer.
-
We were certainly underwhelming in killing the game second half but it wasn’t a terrible performance & credit has to go to the opposition.
I’ve always agreed with the comments ref Konsa at right back as he isn’t a good enough ball player to offer anything out there & he should be first choice centre back.
-
Our weekly 2023 administered autumnal thrashing’s in our favour seems along time ago. Hopefully that will change courtesy of a kick up the derrière.
-
Not great today but a few reasons to be cheerful.
We’re 2 points off top of the league.
Unbeaten away from home.
Watkins is on a hot streak, 4 in 3.
Don’t think we’ve actually played particularly well this season yet sit 5th, there’s more to come from this side.
Roll on next week, two home wins would be magnificent.
-

Bollocks to Ed Sheeran.

Agree.
I think he is being generous to Ramsey Bailey Onana.
-
Carlos is the obvious weakness we have. Such a shame we couldn't ship him out and get an upgrade in.
The other concern I have is the Diaby sale. For one thing, Bailey played his best football for Villa while we had Diaby on the books. For another, I think Philogene has been quite 'meh' so far so we don't even now have that alternative to Bailey we had last season
-
We’ve lost I game in 8 this season by the way. Today was disappointing but let’s not get too upset, on to Wednesday.
-
Our 2nd goal was champagne football knocking it around patiently. When Rogers and Bailey went off we lost some cutting edge.
If Konsa doesn't try that suicidal trent alexander arnold slide rule pass and uses the simple option to Philogene we win that 2-1. They only looked threatening on the counter. Oh well it's a point, just very dissapointing when ever we get a sighter of being top of the premier league we absolutley shit it.
-
Individual and manager errors for me. Should have cleared the ball for the first goal, Konsa needs to pass it out wide for their second and we really didn't need Duran and Billie Jean on at 2-1 up. Barkley for Rogers would have been fine.
-

They missed some big chances, two before half time and Torres made a goal saving block for one in the second. That's a ridiculous number of goal scoring chances to be conceding to Ipswich. Balance of team isn't right even ignoring the Konsa/Carlos debacle. We are getting done on the counter far too easily.
-
Tbh we have had a kindish set of fixtures to begin with and this is the one which i think has been the poorest result of the season so far.
We really are leaking far too many goals and its simply not good enough. Not one clean sheet in six against some poor sides is very worrying.
What the hells gonna happen when we play spurs, liverpool and city if we continue to defend like this?
Got to hope kamara is close to returning because we desperately need him

Exactly what said I to my son. It was like a boxer using his jab to keep his opponent at arms length knowing he was ahead on points. Then Ezra seems to think he’s a marauding midfielder and gets caught 50 yards out of position, Carlos defends like he’s never played before and we throw away 2 points.
-

That is true, but we’ve also had very kind fixtures. We’ve kind of done what’s expected, up to today, in terms of results. The problem for me is that I think the way we’re playing won’t stack up consistently against the better sides. If we don’t address how we defend as a team we’ll lose plenty of games. I’m sure Unai is working on that.
-
Diego’s been down Gabby’s gym - 500kg bench presses followed by five sausage and bacon butties and eight pints.
Ipswich did well.
-
We’ve lost I game in 8 this season by the way. Today was disappointing but let’s not get too upset, on to Wednesday.
Totally. And we were great in patches. The moaning is ridiculous.
-
Could have done with McGinn today.
-
As soon as the commentators curse kicked-in around the hour mark - "Villa looking so composed" and that graphic popped-up about us having the best record from winning positions, I knew we were done for. Even moreso when their dirty beardy dude managed to avoid a second yellow card.
It could have been worse at the end with the avalanche of corners on our goal but these are the types of games that the very best tend to win, especially once ahead.
It seems like they deliberately targeted Rogers. He often had two or three players swarming around him. He's the only player we have who has height, muscle and top close control. JJ is playing a little within himself still - whether that's a worry over his foot being injured again or Morgan is taking up a lot of the space he used to drive into with the ball, I don't know.
I thought we missed McGinn's arse today and his ability to draw fouls. They were physically stronger and the ref was weak at punishing this.
I know Philogene has looked poor so far but I'm not going to join the pile-on. He was excellent against teams like Ipswich last season, he just needs a proper run of minutes to make an impact.
No indication that a Watkins/Durán partnership will work. Ollie was invisible once Jhon came on. In fairness to the Colombian he did some good off the ball work and his one decent chance to get a shot off was well defended by the Tractor Boy who nicked it off his toe just in time.
Important to note that Cash, Mings, Kamara and McGinn would all have featured today if fit. We may never have the luxury of a fully fit squad but I do think our performances will improve over the autumn and into the winter.
-
That’s a very decent account eamonn, I’m also sure Jaden just needs some minutes and time to learn. It just shows how big the gap is between the two leagues.
-
And another thing everyone moaning about Cash before he got injured but now missing him like mad
Same goes for McGinn
I only miss Matty Cash when Bogarde is playing.

That was my impression, as well.
We were in control, and coasting. You cannot coast in this division, ever.
The right side of our defence was shambolic.

Not having a go, but you can't have been too impressed with Konsa today!

Yes, Mings is the one we miss. People seem to forget that Konsa/Mings is a solid pair. Konsa/Pau is not - in fact, it’s statistically worse than Carlos/Pau.
-

No, that pass that gave the goal away when there was a simple ball on to JP was terrible.
On the wider point, I’d always pick the defence that lets the least goals in (out of the players available), apart from against lesser teams at home, and find it surprising that most posters prefer leakier versions.
-
Could have done with McGinn today.
Defo his type of game to be fair. Niggly fuckers and he could show them how to do it right.
-
If we can win next Sunday, today's result won't seem so bad, 4 points from those 2 fixtures will be ok.
-
Thought Ipswich were quite effective against us. They know we like attacking down the left and allowed us to chop back inside to slow us down. We lost a lot with Rodgers going off. I agree with those saying Maatsen would have been a better choice to start this one.
One of the things Diaby did was keep Bailey on his toes for his place. Bailey knows Philogean isn’t currently anyone who he needs to worry about. Apart from his assist his performance was poor, lazy at times and god knows how we couldn’t keep on his feet in the second half.
Carlos I’ve thought for a long time is not good enough and a liability. He’s such a strange player in that he looks physically imposing but is not. Is supposed to have a great long pass but we’ve never seen it. Continues to make similar mistakes and never seems to learn from them which, at his age, is terrible. He’s supposed to be an experienced player but players like a novice at times. And the big problem seems to be that he does not trust his body and that has a knock on effect on us trying to play a high line.
Watkins and Rodgers are potent.
It was a poor second half but long way to go in the season and we didn’t lose.
-
Bailey wasn't tracking back with his runners
-
Not the best performance but I'll take a point and great away day.
-
Now that WAS a shit performance. Philogene - what’s the point?
Yes very lightweight and bullied off the ball.
But not to blame for the defeat. Hopefully he will learn.
What defeat?

Yeah, lol, that was exactly the point I was trying to make , beat them and today's draw won't look so bad.
-
I think overall so far we have looked very good at times and very bad at times. The problem is that we only have to be bad for a moment to undo all the good.
-
Ipswich played played with a lot of energy and movement up front, we appeared far to relaxed and almost lost this game, I bet Unai has let them have it with both barrels. EMI shouldn’t get away Scot free he should have saved the first.
-
Just watched the replay. I noticed their striker Delap angrily snapping at Emery after the game. I wonder what that was about?
-

I thought Unai looked proper pissed off at the end - when he greated Mckeena - I thought it seemed quite abrupt - even by his normal post match behaviour

-
Maybe the hype over McKenna is not misplaced. He went toe to toe with Emery, presumably with worse or at least inexperienced players, and picked at our vulnerabilities to get a result.
-
This is fucking disgraceful. How Atwell/VAR missed this is highlights their incompetence. Not taking away that we didn’t play well but these are important moments that have to be caught by the officials

What about this one?

Clear penalty.
-
What was Konsa thinking, we were still winning and as a full back his first priority is defence, all game he was under pressure as they targeted him and Carlos, he didn't need to be up with the forwards. Bailey has gone back in his shell, for a short period last season he was unstoppable, Emery also had a bad game, thought his changes weakened us apart from Barkley.
-
Clear dive by Watkins, red card.
-
@StanCollymore
FT 2-2
Thought we played in energy conservation mode instead of the usual high tempo. That means teams at this level will always pose a threat and it becomes difficult to respond to, credit to Ipswich, they stayed in the game.
Carlos is an issue, Konsa back at CD a must. The habit of conceding first is a concern, eventually it'll cost more than 2 points today.
At 2-1 the tempo should have gone up instead of down and taken the game to a level the opposition have yet to get to.
Disappointing because there's just the slight sign that all we have to do is "play" and we'll get results. Not happening, not at this level.
If we can play at tempo v City or Bayern, then we can v Ipswich. It's that simple.
-
Konsa back at CD is a must?
Like against West Ham when our non-Konsa right-back won the ‘most penalties given away in the PL since his debut award’ outright?
Like against Arsenal when our non-Konsa right-back lost his man and he scored the winner?
Like against Leicester when our non-Konsa right-back was skinned and made it a close game for the last however long was left?
Like against Everton when *checks notes* Calvert-Lewin bullied our defence for an hour?
Like against Young Boys when our non-Konsa right-back was all over the place in the first half? So much so that he was replaced by erm… Konsa at half-time?
And NOT like against Wolves when our right-back scored the winner. Who was that now?
Be careful what you wish for. Especially if you wish Stan Collymore was picking our team instead of Unai Emery.
-
We played the game in first or second gear for the most part.
You could tell from the beginning that we were the better footballing side (the second goal was sheer class) but obviously it takes more than that to win a match in the Premier League.
It looked like an exercise in conserving energy.
We were fortunate to be leading 2-1 at half time and in the second half you would expect to be looking for a third goal to finish them off.
At the end I thought we were happy with the point as we could easily have lost.
I think we all agree that the RB situation is causing a lot of problems.
Our defence continues to look fragile.
I wonder when Cash will be back?
I know he may not be the long term solution but he is the best option when fit.
All credit to Ipswich for taking the game to us they probably deserved to win.
If they continue to play like that I think they will stay up.
Man U next in PL and we should really be looking to heap on the misery for them next weekend.

We’ve lost I game in 8 this season by the way. Today was disappointing but let’s not get too upset, on to Wednesday.
Totally. And we were great in patches. The moaning is ridiculous.
We have played some of the worst teams in the league and scraped the wins. November is where we really will see how good this team is as thats where we beging the tougher games in the league
Manure will be a test lets see how we do against them. Are we going to shit our pants like we usually do against them or are we going to finalky realise they are shit and we shouldnt fear them
-
We haven't scraped wins. The only match where we got an undeserved result was Arsenal.
-

I would argue west ham and everton ones we did. We were fortunate wolves missed chances too and were clinical in that one
-
And you'd be wrong.
-
For the first 20 mins of the 2nd half we dominated the ball, yet we never created a goal scoring opportunity.
-
We played well within ourselves. Ramsey final ball not there, Konsa poor and gave away possession twice leading to goals, Carlos off the pace as ever, Morsey had to fucking walk. Should have had a pen...
Ah fuck it, is it Wednesday yet?!!!
-
Clear penalty.
Similar to West Ham's against Villa?

I was shouting from my living rooom at Konsa as he galloped forward, I hate watching the inevitable unfold in front of your eyes and being powerless to do anything about it.
-
We didn’t ‘scrape’ wins against Wolves & Everton. When we got going we were relentless and head & shoulders above them, but the problem was that it took us too long to get going.
The question is why we are starting every game (except Arsenal) in 2nd gear, & it feels like the only explanation is complacency.

I think you might need help at this point
-
When Percy's in this mood, it's like arguing with my wife. You're best just nodding and getting on with something else.
-
I suspect it'll be Konsa-Torres-Mings-Dinge/Maatsen or Cash-Konsa-Torres-Digne/Maatsen if ever we get all our players back without any more getting injured in the meantime, depending on opposition.
-
I know we have two good left-backs - but I do wonder if Torres could play there too when Tyrone is back playing.
-

I think you then lose the good thing about him which is his distribution from the middle of defence. That strikes me as trying to fit him in for the sake of it, rather than it being best for the team. We've seen with Konsa that out-of-poition centre backs are OK as a stop gap measure, but long term it's not a good idea.

It would only work as a 3 at the back or an in-game switch to 3. Still doesn't solve RB/RWB issue. I think Tyrone will play some games but Pau will be preferred.
-
I think it was mentioned by Mings about where/how he would play with Torres - that the left side could be an option
When all fit and firing, we have a lot of choice - even maybe a back three with wingbacks - Maasten could do the role on the left - however the right side would be an issue.
-
I think we're going to get battered, sadly. An inept defence and too many players like Ramsey and Bailey who are nowhere near their best.
-

I think we'll win handsomely on Wednesday and gift those bastards a win at the weekend.

I doubt we will see much of Mings this season. Maybe the odd sub cameo when we're comfortably in the lead.
-
Some players looked really rusty. A lot of awful first touches from some.
We'll really need to be on our game Wednesday Night.
The ref was junk.
-
A draw away from home is never a bad result really. Bad performance but they happen. Very good start to the season, just the usual misery arses on here who become 'very worried' the minute we don't play well e every single game.
-
Well at least we got a draw at a difficult place to go.
Konsa and Carlos both made big errors for the second.
We've a few players either new signings or returning from injury, who are not quite up to speed yet.
Still, our best start to a league campaign in 25 years, and we didn't lose.
Watkins has 4 goals and 3 assists in his last few games, so he's on form again.
-
Has it been pointed out enough how definitely sent-off Sam Morsy should've been? Can't remember the last time I saw someone so absolutely sent-off without actually getting the card and the point-off-the-pitch gesture.
-
It was ridiculous. Laughable in all honesty.
-

Billing for Bournemouth at home the year we came back up. Howe subbed him at HT.

I don't know about "win handsomely", but I'm definitely more confident about Bayern than those cheating rats on Sunday.

Clear penalty.
Similar to West Ham's against Villa?
You grab and pull a shirt anywhere else on the pitch and it's a foul, why is it viewed differently in the box?
-
Could Fernandes have his red card rescinded for Sunday?

He had hold of Watkins for some time and was still pulling him when he went down. As obvious a penalty as you will see, but with that Ref!

It looked all game as if the Ref would not make any direct decision that could affect the outcome of the game - 2nd yellows-No.
Clear penalty-No.
The score would have been completely different if the correct rules had been applied, and the correct rules would have been applied if that would have been against City, Arsenal, Liverpool - not a happy bunny.
-
Could Fernandes have his red card rescinded for Sunday?
Don't see why not when DCL had his rescinded even though it was an over the ball studs up contact on the shin (no matter what the studio commentators seem to think).
-
I wonder if subconsciously some of the players, having seen what has happened with McGinn, were playing within themselves to make sure that they don’t risk missing the game on Wednesday.

We've got a problem if that's the case. There are loads of these games.
-
In my inebriated state on Saturday night I think I calculated that we had something like 20 games in 84 days in the lead up to and including Christmas. That’s going to need the whole squad at various points.

Just like David Cootes, he relies on VAR to make decisions; which doesn't work well now, since VAR have been told to back off.

True but only one of them is the first in decades at that level against one of the biggest clubs in Europe at Villa Park. It might not be the case but they wouldn’t be human if it thought didn’t occur to them.
-
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins speaking to Sky Sports: "They always put a lot of pressure on us and we couldn't really implement our game plan.
Reasonable words from the good man there, had a good game most of the time.
Yeah, pretty decent summary of the game there. We're definitely not the only team they'll take points off at home this season.
-

Are they really going to be THAT bothered though? Players like Tielemans, Digne , Torres, Maatsen and Onana have all played Champions League. Lots of them have played in big international games. I don't think it'll have quite the same meaning for the players as it does for the fans. Unai has stressed that the Premier League is his focus this season, so I think if he got the sense that there was any coasting going on, the players concerned would find themselves in hot water pretty quickly.

You’re probably right but something seemed to inhibit us in the second half. I initially thought they’d been told to play a containing game which was undone by Konsa’s mistake but according to Unai that wasn’t the case.
-
2-1 up, away from home, in the 2nd half. Why is the stand in full back even in the opposition half. At that stage of a Premier league game the defenders should be in shape and looking to shut out any sniff of an attack. We have enough firepower up front to be threatening a 3rd goal without the need for help from defenders.
-

Something really did seem off in the second half. Last year we were razor sharp on the counter - yesterday we kept pulling up and slowing down.
When dominating possession we can be really patient in the buildup, while looking for something to open up. Yesterday we did the tippy tappy patience thing, but with no semblance of creating anything from it.
Bailey, cross to Watkins aside, just gets double teamed into dead ends because the opposition knows Konsa won’t overlap or add anything to the attack. The cross worked so well because he put in quickly, which is the only time he tried it.
The entire second half just seemed like we were going to pass it around till full time, with no interest in scoring again.
-
On too many occasions in recent games we’ve been playing the simple, obvious ball in front of a massed defence.
Be that Everton, Wolves or Ipswich.
In two of those games we did - eventually - find other ways to win.
But we do miss Douglas Luiz’s guile, where a disguised pass or ball from deep could open sides up.
-
The general feeling on here is as if we had lost
It was not great and Emi did not help with a near post save he should make easily. But we showed our ability and got ourselves into a winning position.
Away from home the home team is always going to bombard us and we should of had better in game management to address the issues
This is why a GK should not be the Captain
-
All I'd say ahead of this week is that last year, before the two wins in three days against Man City and Arsenal, we drew 2-2 away at Bournemouth.
-
A few of ours were really under par here. I thought Onana was nearly totally anonymous, other than a few safe, neat touches. I know Bailey got an assist, but he and Philogene later on were just so weak and easily dispossessed. They just offered so little.
Ipswich are a good side though. They matched and limited us. I guess it's a long season and we don't have the squad for four trophies. We will need to go at 60% sometimes? I have no idea how they manage it.
-
We’re less than 2 years removed from being a side headed towards the Championship with many of those same players. We’ve drawn a game at Ipswich in the PL. We didn’t play our best football. It happens. Liverpool, a squad assembled over many years at much great expense, with more talent and experience lost at home to Forest. It happens at this level. We are still learning what it is to operate consistently at the top end of the table after many, many years of regularly appearing at the arse end of it. And speaking of Forest, this feels like that game we lost last year when the sky fell in. That Villa side went on to qualify for the CL. There are many things to improve. That’s ok. It’s part of our evolution and development. But you’d think we got battered yesterday from some of the reactions. We didn’t.

All that is true but dropping points from a winning position is not something we do very often which clearly frustrated the manager yesterday. This thread by and large reflects that.

I mean, fair enough, but your own match reactions were:
Very disappointing by the overall performance in midfield and defence. Never gave ourselves a proper chance to establish a cadence in the game through poor decisions and mistakes. We will have games like this in a long season but the overall defensive play is very concerning. Top 4 teams don’t defend this season way and we have been fortunate by the opponents we’ve face in the first 6 games.
Absolute shit today.
I can't say that I've see read much that's more vitriolic than that to be honest.
-
And you'd be wrong.
Dont see how having to come back from 2 down to beat awful side at home isnt eaxctly a convincing victory
-
Transference from emotional threads (i.e match ones) disallowed as unfair!

Lots of complaints on here that we were far too conservative in the second half. If anything Digne's inability to loop outside Ramsey cost us the ability to play more often in their half and get in behind them, Ramsey had to constantly check back out. Up to that mistake, I thought Onana particularly and even Carlos had improved hugely from their first half performances. Ipswich had ran out of ideas. The first half was a basketball type game, we had control in the second half until that horror show of a goal. Taking off Rogers so early was a big mistake too from Emery, he was linking midfield and Watkins.
-
He was hurt/injured though, wasn't he (Rogers)?
-

I thought he was threatening to retaliate as the ref was doing f all from the Match Thread chat at the time.

We absolutely played like we were thinking about Wednesday.
-
I'd love to know what the ref was thinking about because he certainly wasn't concentrating on the game.
