Huge game.
Sunday, 5:30pm kick-off.
A high stakes game with added spice because of a great tackle from Matty Cash.
I think we'll win.
3-0 Villa.

I've got kick-off at 1pm :)
We'll definitely get something out of this!
-
Spurs need the win more than us, and a home win would put us in pole position for 4th. So ti'll be a draw, and we'll continue to monitor the European coefficient.
-
1-0. Cash 90+9
-
1-0. Cash 90+9
That would be funny.
-
1-0. Cash 90+9
That would be funny.
It would be great after seeing the abuse and hatred he got online.
-
Aston Villa 3 (Watkins, Cash, Son o.g.) Tottingham 1 (Son)
-
1-0. Cash 90+9
Please, please let this happen.
-
Win please.

I'm not sure how my blood pressure will cope with this fixture. I am considering beta blockers. It has the vibe of a derby, but against a very decent team on their day.
-
Tough one this. We beat them at spurs but they had so many players out. This will be a much tougher game.
Id take a draw if offered now

Sunday, 5:30pm kick-off.
I'd try and get to the ground very early. 12.45 at the latest, say.

Match is definitely a 1pm kick off

Match is definitely a 1pm kick off
The match thread states 5:30 pm therefore it must be 5:30pm. You can always rely on posters on here.

Bollocks to that. 4-1 Villa, they'll need a hearse to go home in because they're getting funeralled.

I second that emotion!

I hope that Matty Cash goes through Romero like a dose of salts in the first minute, Vinny Jones on Steve McMahon style.
-
Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne, Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Bailey, Tielemans, Watkins.
Might be a bit optimistic to expect both Ramsey and Torres to be fit enough to start. At least with Torres we have a reasonable backup in Lenglet, I don't see any replacement for Ramsey on the left. Tielemans fortunate to be starting on current form.
-

Or Steve McMahon on Kevan Broadhurst.
-
This is one of the games where the lack of Bouba could be a problem. Hope we win the midfield.
-
Bit worried about Torres now after tonight’s contradictory comments but if he’s ok we will coast this!

Do what Smirker does. Just turn up/tune in a couple of hours after the match has finished.

FTFY (by his own admittance in the blurb).

I’d rather Romero do something daft and get sent off.
-
4-3 Villa
Ollie last minute winner.
-
Mother's Day game and it's a big one, and Romero will need his mummy after this one.
4-1 home win.
-
Seems like they will have Porro back which is a blow. Particularly if Ramsey isn't fit to start. They look stronger on paper than us and will have more options from the bench. Perform to the level we did against Man United and we will get the win. Draw wouldn't be a bad result either.

0-2 by 5.30pm.

Perform on the level we did in front of goal in that game and we won’t!

Anyone have an idea (Hookey?) on what the player's work routine is following a Thursday away game in Europe? Something like...
Thursday night - private flight back to Birmingham
Friday morning - off/rest
Friday afternoon - Bodymoor for warmdowns/massage/swim ?
Saturday morning - Classroom with Unai (Analysis of Tottenham and clips of how we did in the Ajax game)
Saturday afternoon - Light training, putting theory from classroom into practice
Saturday evening - leisure & meal time together, team stay in hotel ahead of game
Sunday morning - Short team meeting, hammering home clips viewed on Tottenham
Sunday afternoon - Funeral the Hotspurs in our hallowed home
-
First things first, whenever Cash touches the ball I will be cheering. Nothing says more about the modern game in the age of social media than the hysterical reaction to what was a poor challenge but nothing more. Him scoring would just be delicious.
Away from that, this is a cracking game to anticipate, the presence of Konsa/Pau could dictate how we get on but I have a feeling that we will lose this, the media will go into overdrive with wall to wall coverage for our opponents while any ambition we have in almost anything will be dismissed out of hand. Then we will finish above them in fourth.
1-2
-
You didn't even mention the names of any of the players' partners there, eastie. Come on, step up.

I'm just fascinated by their fitness and professionalism in a congested calendar.
The Real Housewives of Solihull are of no interest to me. Honest.

Spurs everywhere down here in Cambs so please just win Villa and sadly I won't be there as we are going to Warwick races...
the wife booked it then they changed the date :(

I'll take a draw at this point.

Im still conditioned that Villa will raise expectations but dash them spectacularly, so I cant see anything other than a Spurs win.
Followed by my Spurs supporting mates rinsing the fuck out of me.
Even the one currently in Mexico who has set himself up for radio silence if Villa win.
The massive bellend...

Same.

I think we’re a better side than they are, therefore will out score them and win the game.
Villa 2 Lilyshites 1
-
I'll take a draw at this point.
Unless we are winning going into injury time, I feel the same.
-
The ref this week is Chris Kavanagh, who we haven't had this season yet. Last season he awarded us the penalty for Ings in the 2-1 away win at Brighton, and was in charge for the 1-1 away draw with West Ham, when they had a penalty given.
-
As a spectacle it's just a shame that Spurs have so many injuries to their squad, it's what, 35 first XI players missing now.
Villa will find a way to win and cement 4th.

I'd say that's pretty close eammon;
Thursday night - private flight back to Birmingham
Friday morning - off
Friday afternoon - off
Saturday morning - Report & breakfast 0900, 1000 post-match debrief, 1100 activation (warm up to normal people), 1130 train, 1230 finish, 1300 lunch and meeting
Saturday afternoon - off
Saturday evening - report to BH 1930 and then to hotel
Sunday morning - breakfast at 1000. Team meeting and travel to VP. Arrive at 1100
Sunday afternoon - Batter Spurzz.
I'm not sure if Villa use overnight stays when at home. The kids stay over at The Belfry on the odd night.

With that disgraceful thug Cash on the pitch, some of them might be going home in an actual hearse. #prayforspurs

I reckon we’ll wilt under the pressure. 1-3 spuds

I don't want any of this last-minute winner stuff, I want us to fuck them big-style.

Cash, a modern-day Stuart Pearce - no I don't see it either...

4-0 please. 2-0 up by half time, a third on the hour mark, and one in the 85th minute (preferrably by Cash) that the Spurs fans can hear on the walk back to their cars.

Ajax was a good training session for this match.
We have beat Man City Asterisk, the Arses plus loads of others at Villa Park so Spuds should be plain sailing.
We will mash them. 3-1 to the boys in C&B.
-
Saw somewhere that people are being encouraged to turn up en mass outside the ground to cheer the team bus in.
-
Unai doesn't lose must win games. We'll sort these pretenders without even breaking into a canter.

Oooh how scary will it be when "Cutie Pie" Romero or whatever the fuck they call him has a go at Matty Cash, after that entirely regular, unspectacular tackle that cause Bentancur to miss about 3 matches?
I AM TERRIFIED.

Yeah ridiculous nonsense. Spurs fans and Romero can fuck off, in fact hopefully the latter will self destruct like he tends to. He’d be a good player if he weren’t such a weapon’s grade bellend.

Its an excellent idea.
With the Punjabi Villans and their drums and lots of smoke bombs and flares.
It would be incredible.

They'll all be terrified that the Butcher of B6 will snap them in half.
Us 3-0 Spurs

Won't that eat into serious drinking time though.

More like serious queueing to get a drink time.

Unai doesn't lose must win games. We'll sort these pretenders without even breaking into a canter.
We lose to Ure a few weeks ago when a win would have buried them. And he lost a few must-wins at Arsenal too.

3-3 , crazy game to come

I don’t really believe in “must wins” as such, except if it’s literally a win to achieve a set goal, but even by a looser definition this isn’t one. It’d be brilliant to win, and I’ll be annoyed if we don’t, but if we lose we’re not exactly out of the race.
-

Same.
They've also not won an away match in nearly three months. So it's even more certain.

Well thats the villa love giving. Similar to manure and we saw what happened there. Think this is gonna be a tough match personally

The fans have a vital role to play tomorrow
Exactly. Hopefully those match day tickets have been bought by proper Villa fans and not day trippers because 'top 6' Spurs are in town.
You can kind of second guess what the atmosphere is going to be like pre-match, by the amount of fumbling around with tickets outside the ground at the turnstiles.

Just need the missing piece in the jigsaw now, do they have a player on a current goal famine who's name we can insert for the winning goal.

Son will score, that much is for sure.

In fairness I still fumble around and I’ve been going best part of 50 years
-
I can see us beating Spurs 2-1.
-
I have more confidence against teams we should be nervous about playing... eg. Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd (🙄)...
If we can put out a performance like we did against Man City at home against this shower, they're for the taking. That Angie bloke has one way of playing - Unai will have his measure and will get the job done. Ajax away was the prelude with his team selection. He knows what he's doing and I can't see anything but a comfortable Villa win here.
*Also, no Kane (*the cheating, diving SOAB!) to rely on either.
We'll win this comfortably.

Big Cas was previewing the game with "Lawro" on TodayFM yesterday evening. He had a good quip about how both teams love playing the high-line so much that you'd be able to throw a blanket over all twenty outfield players in the middle of the park.
-
Stopping Madisson picking passes is an important role for someone tomorrow .
-
1-1. Ollie the boyhood Gooner to score ours, Son (inevitably) theirs.
Hopefully I'm wrong, but in a good way!
-
I'm still in Amsterdam as did Parkrun this morning. Met another Villa fan over for the game. I don't get back to West Wales until midnight then up early for the drive up to Brum. I'm not confident about tomorrow, just been let down too many times by Villa. Hopefully in Uni we trust. UTV

I dreamed it was 2-2 with them scoring with the last kick.

What a shower of shit-outs you all are.
-
We need to go in front early if we’re going to win this one.
-
I cursed Ajax away saying “there’ll be goals”, so I’m keeping out of this one.
-
I think that if we go at them from the start then we’ll win. However, if we take the slow, slow and even slower style, can only see a Spurs win with simple balls over the top of our defence.
-
I'm still haunted by the Engles fuck up a couple of seasons ago.
-
It's weird, I say it every week, but I'm not looking forward to this one. Don't want to lose to them at all.
We're doing so well yet every week I get nervous about the game. I wonder at what point that'll stop and I'll actually be relaxed and expect to win. I'm sure I used to, back in the 90s.
-
Is our match still on tomorrow as all I’ve been hearing is that Liverpool are playing Man City, full stop!!
Yep. The only two matches I've heard being spoken about on Talksport this week are Liverpool v Man City and Man Utd v Everton. Some clown on there this morning even described the game at Old Trafford as "tantalising".

A real six-pointer, Brian.

Going to be a special game with both sides going all out for the win.
An Emery masterplan will get us over the line.
3-2 to us.

I have a feeling that this will be a game of football that either time could win. Or it could end in a draw or be abandoned.

It's love, discussing darts considering we the home team
-
Personally I think it's beyond the pale that a 24-hour sports television channel would interview popular players from a popular football team.
Don't they know that there are supporters of other teams who might be offended by the sight of players on their televisions who don't play for their team?
-
If we want to taken seriously, we have to beat these fuckers.
No bottling it. No, happy with a point.
We have to show we are the real deal and belong in the top 4.
On a wider note, win tomorrow and we are six points off top of the table going into the last 10 games.
SIX POINTS !!! That’s incredible.
Bloody hell, its been closer to 60 points off top in our recent history.
Unai is a Don. A god.
I just want him to fire us up so strongly we batter this lot on Sunday.
-
Due to me being a glass half empty kinda bloke I was going to talk about our inconsistency costing us today. It then struck me that to get in the position we currently find ourselves in wouldn't have been possible without performing consistently over the season. I think if we show up today we'll have too much, however a performance like Thursday night will result in a hiding. I'd probably take a draw now if offered.
-
The positive in me is thinking 3-2 with a last gasp 25 yard winner from Matty Cash but my head says 2-2.
-
I have a feeling that this will be a game of football that either time could win. Or it could end in a draw or be abandoned.
You left out postponed. Due to a Spurs player slipping as he steps off the team coach and hurting his toe, it's just one injury too many for them to be able to field a competitive side.
-
I'm really nervous. On the three occasions lately when we've met stronger opposition (Manchester United twice and Newcastle) we have buckled. Win this one and there will be a sense that those defeats are behind us, and fourth place beckons. Lose today and I'd worry about how the rest of the season might shape up.
-
Neither Newcastle or man United are stronger than us, we're many points above both teams. Very strange comment

Very true, in those games we haven’t really turned up (the Manure one we should have won though). We need to be better in defence, we can’t be shipping easy goals. But our attack is functional again so hopefully we’ll be right up for it and have our intensity right (that was one of the main things missing against Newcastle and Chelsea.)
Win today Villa please.

Sutton predicting guessing 3-2 to us. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68462975
FTFY (by his own admittance admission in the blurb).
No need, the text is clear enough, "Sutton's prediction: 3-2".
FTFY (I believe the word you were looking for was admission).
-
Neither Newcastle or man United are stronger than us, we're many points above both teams. Very strange comment
I didn't mean they were opposition stronger than us, I meant they were opposition stronger than the other opposition that we've played (and beaten) over recent weeks.
-
Neither Newcastle or man United are stronger than us, we're many points above both teams. Very strange comment
It’s not a strange comment though is it? Both teams have done the double over us, Newcastle did it with relative ease.
-
I took it to mean “stronger” in terms of our opponents, not stronger than us.

The positive in me is thinking 3-2 with a last gasp 25 yard winner from Matty Cash but my head says 2-2.
I'd take a draw. I know that's not a good attitude, but I would.

Bit of extra pressure riding on this one. Let's see which players have the mentality to step up.

Yes.

We've won our last 5 matches on 10th March.
2001 = 2-1 Ipswich
2012 = 1-0 Fulham
2018 = 4-1 Wolves
2019 = 0-1 Bloses
2022 = 0-3 Leeds

Nervous as hell about this. Give me the draw now, that'll do.
-
On way down from Macc, feeling slightly nervous but if we can get our offensive play going we can win. We’ve beaten these the last 3 times we’ve met, let’s be positive.

Interesting stat that, mate.
I was at that Ipswich game. Came down from uni in Aberystwyth. I think it was 3 hours on the train to Brum. Went with two mates - a Man Utd fan and an Everton fan. Was in the lower Holte and as I sat down, my mate from high school (Liverpool fan..my only Liverpool supporting mate, should I add) was there sat next to me. Bizarre.
Remember Ginola having a good game, and Joachim at the double. I think Ipswich were flying at that time.

I expect nothing less than a Villa win especially as I will be in the posh seats to see it. Onwards and upwards.
Enjoy your chicken dinner .
Currently watching Levy and Lange getting served dinner. Let's hope all they get today.

Hope they're having chips, so we can piss on them! Hoping.

Having had a listen to bits of the Spurs manager's press conference, it's simply weird how two or three journalists asked him about Cash's tackle, revenge and all that crap.
That Romero is complete wanker it seems.

"Journalists" or these B-Tec podcaster types .

No Ramsey then. Not even on bench.

Unai has transformed a team who were relegation candidates into serious Champion League contenders. Incredible achievement.
Unai also knows the importance of the fans and how their support can raise the performance of a team to a higher level. He mentions the fans in every interview and often in his first sentence. I am convinced this is not by accident but by design as Unai knows how incredibly important the fans are.
From reading a lot of the negativity and pessimism on this thread it appears Unai has been more a lot more successful in changing the mentality of the players than he has had with some of our supporters!!
For all the fans who are lucky enough to go today, please scream your heads off, appeal for every decision and sing Villa to victory. In a tough game you will make the difference.
I am miles away but look forward to seeing our players and home support both sticking it up the Spuds.
Best of luck to you all.

No it seems about it, seems borderline sociopathic to me. Hopefully he doesn’t something stupid and gets sent off.
