That might be the weakest bench we've had for a good while. Let's hope the first XI get the job done.

Cash must be injured.

I think we miss him.

Konsa is no right back, and would much rather have him in the centre.

New RB needed in January.

We are surely the club worst affected with injuries yet you wouldn't think it from the 'pundits'. By my reckoning the following players have all had injuries of varying degrees and each one is an important player and some absolutely crucial to how we play

Mings
Buendia
Moreno
Remsey
Digne
Torres

is that Luiz and McGinn in the middle then ?

Looks like it. As long they are in their more orthodox positions, not church related!, with Luiz RCM and McGinn LCM it should be ok v Burnley. McGinn at RCM reminded me of my efforts with chopsticks.

It's a strange selection in truth. Thought Zaniolo might have been worth a go ahead of one of Diaby and Bailey for a change.

The fact that we haven’t been able to put out our established back 4 isn’t helping at all. And that goes for our midfield too that don’t have the same connection as the combined unit that propelled us to the top 3 in the league. Everything feels a little off.

It should be the other way around and they’ve lost sight of that. Find a really egregious error and everyone is ultimately fine with it. I like what Colin Wanker said the other day. Set a time limit and you have to be able to make a decision. And the on field decision overrules everything. So if it was a goal, then if it warrants review you have 30 seconds to find a glaring error. There will always be post match scrutiny and chatter. But I’d rather it for goals being given than the tedious blunt instrument VAR has become.

With the naked eye the goal was onside. With the first lines the goal was offside. It was still 30 more seconds that elapsed to the goal being allowed. It’s just not required to take that long to find fault. They should be doing everything possible to allow goals.

Meanwhile, Burnley have conceded 19 first-half goals in 20 games, more than any other team in the Premier League this season.

Yep.

Which makes Torontos point all the stronger.

When we played poorly at the start of the season, the defence was getting used to each other in Emerys system.

Same thing again with Cash, Torres, Mings, Digne & Kamara out, with Konsa pushed over to RB.

Thats pretty much the whole defence in new positions or new to the system with their new partner.

It's no wonder there is confusion & a similarity to the beginning of the season.

But Spurs have a load of players missing, apparently...

Yep although they probably need to think about the intent of the offside rule. It has to be an absolute thing, but is it actually based on the attacker having an advantage. Because the Burnley non-goal was purely a technical offside, he didn’t gain any advantage.

We haven’t been great. But it’s just a combo of players missing and a dip in confidence. These players are having to also adjust to new media scrutiny at the right end of the table. A lot to deal with. We will come through it because we have a manager who has seen and done it. We’ve not had that in a long time. The structure will see us through this period of uncertainty.

One did. It's 2-1,

They also had one disallowed.

Watching MatchDay Live. Apparently Man City are now 2 points back of Liverpool, and level on points with Arsenal as it stands.

Intending to reply to your other point but can't find it about the creeping nerves this week. I think the vibe would be different if Heck's statement had been 'full steam ahead with the rebuild next June'. I think the off-field stuff has sort of been badly times for the fans.

I don’t think most people care to be honest. The internet and interacting with social media still is a fraction of the fan base. Growing but still not the majority. Most just want the side to win. Off the field stuff is largely irrelevant.

Had a tenner on Bailey first scorer at 7/1 so that’s nice.

Had him first and 2-1 win scorecast. Hoping for a boring goalless second half!!

A Villa win and I’ve turned £50 into £101.

They should give the responsibility and control back to the linesman, can I say that .

That Diaby goal ,if the linesman doesn't flag give it but if a linesman flags and the is no offside give the goal.

I'd be happy with that .

This is a really good observation. It was good vibes tempered with puzzling (or alarming, or suspicious, or...) news from the club. And even then, it wasn’t news, it was something that kind of oozed out of a general conversation.

Good experience for a young keeper to go to a team at the lower end of the table, if they have the right mental toughness. Think Martinez even mentioned recently that Emery advised him to do that when going on loan from Arsenal.

He needs a steady path upwards from Burnley, though. I don't particularly rate him, but Pickford didn't hang around Sunderland when a bigger team came calling. The likes of Butland and Forster were too happy to hang around the middle and atrophied.

Another of those "could play all night" type games now. What has happened to our composure these days?

Going to be about 15 more games like it between now and May, so something needs to change.

Burnley aren’t even parking the bus. The pressed high all match until the red.

Ollie should have scored.

He should have had two, both straight at the keeper, at least he provided two great assists. Diaby should have scored 3 or 4. Poor in attack and wobbly in defence with a midfield that never looked fully in control. Right now I'm just delighted with a win and three points.
