Spot on Dave, I know it’s not just our club but we have a right to expect them as custodians to behave properly….i’m completely of the mind that they don’t want season ticket holders or they want to make the number substantially dwindle.  Particularly in the era of online ticket sales / tickets on phones…they want a ground full of match by match purchasers who haven’t been ground down by shit service for decades and will happily shell out for the garbage offerings.  Whether they have that market won’t be tested whilst we are winning every week but I would be highly surprised if this summer doesn’t bring another big hike in ticket prices to try and shed some more of the old guard.

Spot on Dave and, it will all end in tears if the hierarchy aren’t careful.

The politics of envy is rife in society not just football. Unless those who can afford upgraded services are not cocks about it and rub people's noses in it, then I see no problem.

If I see a guy in a top car and he has got it through hard work etc I don't think " he shouldn't have that the rich wanker" I would want to know how he got it and hoped it inspired me to achieve what he has.

With our ground expansion plans being only a moderate increase in bums on seats they need to see where they can maximise revenue streams accordingly. The easiest way is to offer greater experience for higher value. If it was set at £50 a ticket for everyone then tickets alone is not a great payback. Corporate money is where the bigger returns are.

My old boss used to say 'there is no such thing as a complaint, it is room for improvement'.

If we want to compete with the big clubs we have to act like a big club. We wont do that by shopping at Lidl's if they are shopping at Harrods.

Unfortunately, in the real world it is probably a price we have to pay.

It's not about the politics of envy or maximising revenue (which in this case is miniscule anyway). It's alienating the existing supporter base at a time when we should all be buzzing.

Good points well made and hopefully the club will see this and think about the direction they are currently heading.
I have no problem with the seeking to maximise revenue, but do it with some consideration and respect for the values that has made us stand out from the rest.

Sad, I think, that success in modern football equates to the death pf the traditional fan.  Bayern are often touted as a beacon, the ticket prices are super low for fans.  In the grand scheme of revenue match day tickets are a tiny fraction of revenue.  As long as we are able to continue to get tickets at affordable prices we are ok.  The ground expansion will help with this, I hope.  If not, well, time to start checking out the price of prawns I guess.

Agree. Someone has got it into their head that commercial income is right up there in terms of importance. Income should match our lofty status instantly with little regard for what has gone before. Commercial income is important but it will not be achieved to any great extent until we have a consistent performing team winning things and consistently in the top 6, 5 years minimum but realistically more like 10 years to nab those with the resource to keep paying top whack. I’m loving what’s happening on the pitch, I love our manager, players and even coaches. I’m undecided about our management.

I think the jury is in a position to reach a verdict on those responsible for the crest, the Lower Grounds, The Terrace, the shit kits and  the catering.

How do you know the bloke with the great car worked hard to get it. What about the people who work incredibly hard, say in the NHS keeping all of us alive and well and get paid shit money. The politics of envy is a garbage right wing argument normally used to justify huge inequalities in wealth distribution.
In terms of the Villa, we do need to compete, but hey lets corporatise the lot and see where that gets us, I would guess football in a souless bowl and feck the lot of us who have spent a lifetime going to matches.

I know and like people who have terrace view season tickets, purchased through their own company, they support the Villa but would otherwise be the types who go to a handful of games a season. As said i like the people I’m talking about, but fill the ground with them and it will be a vacuum to loyalty.

Booing mentions of the Terrace View and Lower Grounds, well that's fair enough if that's what you want to do. Booing other fans for daring to use them? Absolute wanker behaviour, that.

If they become members they will be fine, likewise if they know a season ticket holder there's a window they can buy tickets for them. Not much availability in the Holte granted but plenty in the other three stands.

I’ve received an email this evening telling me as a season ticket holder I can enter a ballot to receive complimentary tickets to the Lower Grounds before the Man City and Arsenal games.
Think I’ll just have the usual 2 cans in the park  instead.

not yet , i think as a ST holder you can only buy 1 extra ticket ? thats why i told them TV or LG was their best bet for getting x2 seats together

I’ve got two grandkids, who’ve started to express an interest in going to a match.Have to say when I was their age my old man just took me down and paid two bob to get me in. Those days are long gone. But it’s important I get them down, they’re the next generation of supporters. Getting 3 seats together is almost an impossibility these days. So it looks like I might have to bite the bullet and fork out to let them experience Villa Park. It’s just the way it is. Anybody booing my grandkids had better tread carefully if I see them later though.

Membership costs 40 quid a year for adults, 20 quid a year for kids. I suppose that is a premium in itself but if all the people you are buying tickets for are members then you'll be fine getting two or three together, just not in the Holte. Season ticket holders can buy unlimited tickets for others. Everyone will need to have a ticket ID but that would be the case no matter how you did it.

Being the Friday night before Xmas I imagine there’ll be more than the usual number of season ticket holders looking to put their tickets on resale for that game.

Could be our lowest attendance but a lot of people will have finished work in the week before which will help. As shit times go for a football match, this is amongst the shittest and far more inconvenient than The Christmas Eve/Sunday fixture the Wolfs keep moanling about.

Must admit I’m quite looking forward to the Sheff Utd game and the timing. We’ve been  averaging well over 40k for Home League games this season quite why anyone thinks a game in the early/middle of the Christmas holidays is somehow going to be the reason for everyone sacking it off seems like needless miseryarse-ness to me. Anyway everyone will make their own decision.

I think Man City kicking off at 8.15 on a school night and live on Amazon Video is more likely to make people sack it off than the Sheffild United game.

Those few cheap standing tickets are held hostage by the Ultras groups with Season Tickets. The average fan isn't getting them. The other 95% of tickets are as expensive as our equivalents, if not more expensive.

Villa are offering 20% discount on membership at the moment (as part of “Claret Friday”!?!?). Apart from on the Holte, it’s easy enough to get 3 seats together for members for all games. Don’t fall for the club’s shameless promotion of Terrace View or Lower Grounds, there are other, cheaper ways of getting your family to see the games. Good luck!

If you do this you will get members packs for you and the kids too. The water bottle for adult claret members was quite nice!

I have found that as with kids you can usually get tickets in the upper Witton near The Holte End & it’s a great combination of them being able to see, and being able to soak up the atmosphere
