Moreno and Duran on the bench. I hope they both get a run out.

Interesting lineup, I don't hate it. Hope that defence works though. If we score first, I think we'll be alright.

I got 2 players wrong. I had Zaniolo in for Diaby and Moreno playing the first half with Digne coming on at halftime come what may.

I'd be surprised if Moreno starts a game straight away. Unless Digne picks up his 5th yellow and we've no choice.

His twitter still has villa related stuff on there and thought he'd explained some boring reason related to sponsorship or having a media manager take over.

And Emery said there's no issue, so why want to believe that there's drama?

Footballer deletes stuff from one of his social media channels (but not the rest). Fans post stuff suggesting he's leaving the club. Player explains and manager says there's no problem but he has an injury. A handful of people insist there's a problem still and it's all lies.

So you decided to read 'do a process' means that he's reprimanded him for some reason, rather than he's having to coach him as he's young, in a new league etc etc?

The 'reports' were from a few nimrods on social media that latched onto him deleting everything from Instagram and only wanted to focus on Villa, and a few shite sites that report on what said nimrods post.

This is the Unai quote, sounds like the kind of thing said about countless young players by managers each year

Quote
“With Jhon Duran I have my challenge as a coach with him,” said Emery. “He is young and his potential could be great, to be the level of one of the better strikers in the world in the future.

“But it is about trying to build and do a process with him. He is still young and getting experience. Each training day here is important to him for when he is facing each match, to feel comfortable and face the level of the players we are facing.”

There were a lot of people on here believed the instagram thing, and that he'd done it in a strop after being left out of the squad for that weekend's game. It was only after, when Emery said he'd asked him about it and Durán told him it was nothing, that people dropped it.

Dropped it because the manager clarified the situation. But even then Tin foil Tim has his doubts because nothing is the truth anymore. Another whopping conspiracy.

I disagree.  We are as on top like we were v Forest.  We have got the ball into feet in the box like we did v Forest.  We are as dominant as we were v Forest.  They have clearly watched bloody Notts Forest.  The difference is the atmosphere, being not partisan for the opposition.

Can't agree. AZ are clearly packed in, playing like underdogs away from home. Forest were physical and hit their targets through the air. We are picking the ball off of AZ as soon as we lose it and just need to put the ball in the net at this point.

We look pretty good when we actually try to attack, albeit the final ball slightly lacking. Looks a bit ponderous otherwise. Would like to see us move the ball a bit quicker and put them under sustained pressure. I think the game is there for the taking. Maybe swap Moreno for Digne and give Bailey a boot up the arse to make his passing more precise.

I'm still not sure about the explanation of the disallowed goal being the same phase?

Looking at 2 of the Jackson goals for Chelsea on Monday were they not in the same phase then?

We need to up the tempo more. The play has really slowed for the last 15 minutes. AZ have come into it a bit in the last 10 minutes.

Pretty poor half to be honest. Trying to be too clever up front, and a bit sloppy at the back.

Been well on top until last 5 mins

Someone said Tielemans playing well
Not really.

Disagree, think he was fine as was Kamara.

Bailey and Diaby have been where it has broken down.

Didn’t see a problem with Jackson’s goals, but I thought following the Mings rule change after Man City away, Bailey was played onside by the defender deliberately touching the ball to stop Ollie’s header?

So I'm watching the pundits say that the offside against Bailey is correct because it is the same phase of play but surely if the defender intentionally plays the ball - which he clearly does - then doesn't he play Bailey onside?

I do think its funny when Zaniolo starts people want Bailey on and when Bailey starts people want Zaniolo on.

Hopefully when Zaniolo does come on he can do what Bailey's done in his sub appearances.

Agreed the tempo of the passnng has been too slow and the ball into the front man at the edge of the box has been very poor.

Officials having a bit of a nightmare. That wasn’t a corner but their goal was offside

Yep, shouldn't have bene a goal but it equals out with theirs being one that should've been chalked off.

See what they can find to rule that one out!!

The fact it was a goal kick haha. But shhh it's in our favour
Theirs was offside so I don't care.

I think the referee was fooled that nobody could ever do a finish as shite as Kamara’s was without it being a corner.

But I go back to this referee not being very good.
He needed to miss that horrible to get the corner. Cunning plan

Nice play from Kamara to do deliberately play it off their defender to win the corner rather than be selfish and score.

I don't know if the BBC Text commentator is racist or just plain dumb, but he is always crediting Diaby with the corners.

Quote
The miss in the end isn't clostly because Diego Carlos heads in from Moussa Diaby's corner. Villa are level.

Quote
Aston Villa 0-0 AZ Alkmaar

The replay shows that the offside player was corner taker Moussa Diaby. He was still near the corner flag when Ollie Watkins' header was saved. Because it came back to him to cross in for Clement Lenglet, it was ruled out.

A bad performance well executed, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Did well to squeeze a win out of that.

Yup, we're still work in progress and nights like tonight show it. Credit to Dougie and Watkins, probably the last Villa man you want to be in that position with a header, they normally go straight at the keeper but he buried it in the corner. Cracking build up and goal in a poor performance.

Right now I'll take it but our success is based on dominating the midfield and for the second time in a week we failed and made it tough on ourselves.

This guy on TNT did it too , it's not racist FFS they just don't know villa very well

I agree, I was just pointing out why it could be seen as racist.
Yeah fair enough
If they said Digne instead of Lenglet would that be racist too?
