Protests outside with Man Utd fans wearing 'United Against Greed' T shirts. These are the same people that are screaming for the Qatari takeover. You couldn't make it up.

It’s years of experience but I fear these fuckers will beat us here. I hope I’m wrong and it’s an imperious display, and victory, a bit like the Newcastle game.

They are set up more defensive than they were away to Tottenham; Sabitzer (Midfielder) in for Antony (Forward).

They are set up more defensive than they were away to Tottenham; Sabitzer (Midfielder) in for Antony (Forward).

I haven't seen them play in a while..struggling to figure out their midfield set-up. Casemiro and Eriksen sitting with the other three narrow ahead of them?

All tidy footballers but think they will be very vulnerable on the counter today. Hopefully they will be too arrogant to get tight on Douggie.

4-2-3-1

Rashford up front, Sancho, Sabitzer and Goofy behind him, Casemiro and Eriksen as the two in front of the defence.

Rashford usually not as effective down the middle. Was fearful of what he could do to Young if he was on the left. I'd give our midfield four a chance of at least breaking parity. Buendia will drop in at times too.

Second half where we're going to have to take some risks.

We've been comfortable but they're still getting to the edge of the box no problem with a couple of quick passes.

Midfielders are taking way too long on the ball, Ramsey seems to think he can hold onto it for 20 minutes out there. We need quick give and go's as Moreno getting a cross into space looks our best bet for a goal.

We have been very poor,.throughout the pitch really..including Martinez who had to deal with that weak shot better for the goal. Sabitzer has sat on Luiz and we can't get playing as a result. Once again the long ball proving no dividends.

Our bench is so weak but I wonder if bringing in Chambers for Young could be considered. Also Duran in for Dendoncker. Match them with 4231 and drop McGinn in next to Luiz. As poor as we have been, Watkins slip cost us a tap in goal and we will get other chances. But we need fresh legs asap.

First really poor half in ages (of course it had to be here) and the ref has given us fuck all (as per usual).

I'd forgotten how much I detest 'Utd'.  How many dives in the box?  3?  Casimero slid from about 5 yards away to take JJ out.  No card.  Body checks Moreno.  Throw in to them.  It's just so, so annoying.

I'd take Buendia off at half time.  Its not just that he's been totally anonymous, he was literally walking back when the ball was there to win at one point.  I thought he must be injured but I don't think that was it.  All he had to do was jog a bit and he'd have got the ball.

That said.  The difference is they took their lucky chance and we missed ours (which was probably a good penalty shout that, of course, got totally ignored).

Fernandes.  What can you say that hasn't already been said.  A disgusting sight in every way.

Think Donk's been our best player which maybe gives indication of type of game it's been. He's won challenges and this type of opponent midfield would feel lightweight without him so I'd keep him on and see how first 20 minutes have gone.

We haven't been that bad so surprised at the negativity on here, seems like people are getting withdrawal symptoms at not losing a game for three months.

First 15-20 minutes was a bit dodgy but we still created a very good move that Ollie taps in if it's a dry pitch. Even after it's a very good save to stop Moreno scoring.

Man. United weren't doing much when they scored which is frustrating. People have to accept though teams with top class ball passers will eventually beat high lines the way they can ping balls diagonally, I'm just happy they're not playing Rashford out left as that really would hurt us.

We looked pretty content with a 0-0 so now this is a different question for us to answer. It's a long way from being over although we do need the next goal.

Villa have looked knackered for the last couple of games to me.
really we needed kamera and bailey back to freshen things up.
There's always hope with Emery though.

man utd have been rampant, pressing us all over the pitch how can they keep up that tempo?
mings has nearly made a blunder so has Donk and players on top of McGinn and Buneida as soon as they get the ball there's someone smashing into their back.
we've had a couple of sniffs the watkins one, maybe he could of dangled a leg gone down screaming and got something?
surely manutd will take a breather in the 2nd half and we can push up and give them a bloody nose.

That’s the game I watched. Don’t know what others are watching who are saying we were awful.  Sure we have been below our recent levels, but for that goal and with a HT team talk to come I wouldn’t have ruled out a win.  The goal makes it harder now

That’s not the difference though is it. They’ve had waves of attack and we’ve barely got out of our half.

We're losing all the second balls, and it's really screwing us.

Nobody wants to put a foot in, even Donk who has chickened out a couple of times.

Some of our players need to change their studs at half time.

Preferably, to 6 inch ones!!

Risso, it’s great to know that other people, like yourself, have been watching the same games as me. Like you, I don’t think we’ve played very well the last couple of games but, have somehow managed to get something out of those matches.
However, I did say that we needed to play with the same tactics as we did v Newcastle but are actually doing the opposite. Unless we start to press them higher up the pitch, we will get nothing out of today’s game and the same will apply v Spurs next week.
Also, the best thing Emery can do is to get our players to play with some boots that have got actual studs in them to stop everyone slipping over.

Not sure how we nullify their threat over the top with the way we set up. If they time their runs correctly, we're fucked.

Could have done with Cash's pace against Rashford, to be honest.

Man. United haven't lost a home game since the opening day. They've beaten Man. City, Arsenal and Liverpool at home this season.

They're not as good as they used to be but bit optimistic we could go there and limit them to little. Not like Emi's had endless saves to make (although should've done better for the goal).

We need to get the midfield looking up and passing quicker and then hopefully we can open up their backline which is vulnerable when stationary.

Oh well, the unbeaten run was nice while it lasted, and us scoring in every game since Unai took over.

Yet another reason to hate Man Utd!  :'(

I can’t see us getting to Europe this year. That’s ok. It was a big ask. Not sure we would have the players for it.   I think we’ll end up 8th. 7 th at best. Which will be a huge improvement over the past few years

Better second half, maybe could've skanked a goal.

This is the sort of game we should be able to afford to lose and still qualify for Europe. If we don't make it this season it'll be because of the wank served up under Gerrard, not because of narrow losses away at places like Man U

Correct. Imagine we hadn't wasted the first 9 games...

The goal was absolutely pathetic. I'd have taken a loss to Brentford better.
