I assume it's James Wright, not long turned 18.

May as well be Tommy Wright, ex-Norn Iron number one, for all the chances they have of playing...

Tell you who is wrong on the bench and it's Chambers instead of a youngster.

Hope Kamara is fit enough to slot back in.

Chelsea are a bit hit and miss recently, but we won't be able to carry someone off the pace in the centre of the park. Buendia seems to play better coming off the bench. Bailey can have no complaints though.

This is the new reality.

We'll play out from the back, deliberately drawing sides onto us.  And they'll cash in occasionally.

Providing we get chances further up like the one Ollie just missed so be it.

Like his energy.

But he goes into five-a-side head down mode too often.

He prob backs himself to steam through as he's done plenty of times in the U21s and against weaker players in the topflight. But he's never beating Koulibaly in a physical one on one there.

SCORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCHIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This is so fucking annoying. Do you have to?

I think we need two match threads from now on, one for people not just listening to the radio.
3. One for people watching streams that are usually 2/3 mins behind

I think we just need to follow the same rules as we do for specific tv show threads - if you click in then expect spoilers. It’s not that deep. Ok
That's fair enough Ducksworthy. I agree with that.

No, but if nobody else has a problem with it, maybe you should just watch on TV if it's bothering you?

I'm watching it on TV, and it's still behind. The radio is almost instant, satellite has a delay.

The idea was to just watch the TV, not have the radio on, and don't follow the match thread!

Young needs some help big time.

Him drifting in as a third CB is giving Chilwell so much space to run into and we can't keep giving player of his quality that.

It's a good result for us so far but can't see us keeping a clean sheet with some of the openings they're working around the box so I think we'll concede eventually.

Ramsey getting into some areas but he needs to look up far earlier. Ollie is in ridiculous form and completely unmarked so passing the ball might be advisable on occasions.

Buendia been quiet, JJ been ace , thou a pass on the break its 2-0 , we could could easily been two up thou.

Mudryk is a passenger for them I can't see him coming out for the 2nd half. Which is the worry with the talent they have on their bench.

Watkins other than 1st chance has been brilliant

He's having his best game for a long time, as are a few others. Ramsey looks a threat, Buendia showing much better control, Luiz is everywhere, it's the defence that worries me as Chelsea are given free licence to pump balls into our box. Probability says they'll get one in the back of the net but then they still have to get past Emi.

Good thing is we're creating; ignoring the Watkins shocker, Ramsey broke twice down the left with Watkins in space in the middle, one Watkins was offside so Ramsey had to delay the pass, the second Watkins timed his run to perfection but Ramsey failed to release him. We also had the McGinn crossbar after some lovely play and of course the goal where Watkins had again timed his run to perfection and was gifted with the simplest of lobs into an empty net.

Let's hope that was our shit half.

Gallagher would probably do well with how this game is being played. He tends to struggle in the more technical slow paced games. Him coming on for Loftus Cheek feels obvious.

Wonder if Kamara will be able to last 90 minutes. Probably not and he is on a yellow so that will weaken us a bit as he reads the game so well with his positioning on the edge of the box and pretty calm in possession (when he isn't receiving the ball from a short goal kick).

Thanks for graciously allowing me to post when I want. Show the same courtesy to FV and you may start to feel better about yourself.

No, but if nobody else has a problem with it, maybe you should just watch on TV if it's bothering you?

I'm watching it on TV, and it's still behind. The radio is almost instant, satellite has a delay.

The idea was to just watch the TV, not have the radio on, and don't follow the match thread!

Doesn't help if you want to post your thought about the game though. It's a tough one, if I'm honest I did like the game recently where PWS wasn't on and it never felt like 1 person was a minute or 2 ahead of everyone else.

I agree Paul, you know that nothing is going to happen in the next two minutes which makes it feel a bit pointless.

While we're analysing it, I'd also add that this is the widest-read Villa website on the internet by a mile (there are 1,600 people reading the site at the moment, compared to around 400 for VillaTalk), and there are a lot of people around the world who rely on these threads for Villa-centric updates on what is happening in the match. I've done it a thousand times myself.

So while I can imagine that it might be annoying for people who are watching on TV / online who want to broadly discuss things in their version of "real time", I think the site is serving its purpose far better with regular updates, being done as quickly as possible. And so I for one think that what PWS does is a service whose usefulness outweighs the annoyance that the two dozen or so people who are posting in this thread at the moment might feel.

Others may think otherwise and are welcome to do so.

And so I for one think that what PWS does is a service rather than an annoyance to the two dozen or so people who are posting in this thread at the moment.

Others may think otherwise and are welcome to do so.
I'm gonna come out and say I love & look forward to PWS' updates.

Feeling for Potter. He's one of the game's good guys

He decided to leave a decent job at a team and turn up at another one for loads more money and with no actual say in transfers or other aspects he could control at Brighton. If it wasn't that we are now two points behind and seriously looking at Europe, I would have stated I hope Brighton get in there and Chelsea do fuck all.

He was offered a bigger and - apparently - better job in the same field. I wouldn't turn that down...

True though. Assuming that one of the three teams in the FA Cup semis that are above us win the thing then we're two points away from Europe. It'd be the most unforseen earlier in the season qualification for Europe since Gregory '98

Yeah, can't have a pop at him for having ambition.  Okay, so it's not worked out for him so far but practically anyone in a similar situation would have done as he did.
