Let's get a win boys in front of a packed Villa Park. Today's line up. Some surprises and disappointments like no Bailey. Won't be easy at all but we can do this.
-
Bailey not included in the squad.
-
Bailey not even on bench ffs

Them

-
Let's hope the first 11 can gel quickly as there is hardly anything on the bench to change things bar throwing on the two kids and hoping they can be surprise packages.
What happened to Traore, played last week and not involved today like Bailey?
-
That’s a right bastard. So the rumours about Bailey were quite true.
-
No Bailey at all. We are absolutely cursed.
Ah well, given the options available that's the team I'd have chosen. Still a long way from full strength though.
-

Traore pulled his hamstring in a practice match on Sunday.

What's the rumours, knock in training or something more serious?
-
So yet another mistery injury
-

Someone it was doing the rounds that he had a knock. Because Smith never mentioned it in the press conference we hoped it was just a rumour.
-
Can't wait to see the 3 touches from Anwar this afternoon.
-
This is a actual joke. Trez, watkins traore and now bailey.
-
No Bailey, no Watkins.
Worrying.
-
Being undercooked was also mentioned which I took as lacking match fitness. Maybe a little more than that u presume then.

Why the hell we playing a practice match 24 hours after high intensity premier league match?! I know Traore only came on as a sub but still, need recovery time and we could've done with him starting today.
Surely a practice match on Tuesday or Wednesday would be more logical.
Our pre season has been very very odd when you look at it from a few different angles.
-
Buendia right, AEZ left, and Ramsey as the 10?

I gather it was players who need game time, not so much the starting eleven from Saturday. Traore had an op in the summer and he was included I guess to help with his fitness. Quite a few teams were involved in these types of games on Sunday apparently. This summers pre-season has been messed about by Covid.
-
One in the eye for people having a go at Vinnie anyway, who told us Bailey was injured.
-
Buendia right, AEZ left, and Ramsey as the 10?
McGinn surely as number 10. Ramsey and Luiz as continuity midfielders to get the play moving. Ramsey looked good in his cameo sub roles over last 12 months, less so when he actually starts a match so big test for him today.
Need far more from Buendia today as looking at that he should be drifting in from the right like he was at Norwich.
The line up could work today as it's more balanced than last week. We really need the first goal though, don't fancy us at all if we go 1 down especially with lack of options on the bench which is really frustrating with the injuries.
This will be an interesting watch.
-
I don't think anything we've seen from Smith's selections indicates he'll put Ramsey deep with Luiz and McGinn further forward. Every piece of evidence suggests the opposite. The only question is whether Ramsey is wide and Buendìa central or vice-versa.
-
I'd like to have seen Bidace play instead of AEG

Dean's mad but not that mad.
-
I hope Buendìa is on the right, McGinn in the hole, have a feeling Monty is right though.
-
Buendia right, AEZ left, and Ramsey as the 10?
Be good to see what Ramsey is made of.
-
Sort it out Dean!
-
And to think, Dean Smith is happy with his squad??? Win, lose, draw, we need another couple of players. Good to see Douglas back, Ramsey gives us more energy, I hope SJM plays in the number 10 role. Is that squad better than last seasons?
-
Considering the injuries we've got, that's a good line-up. But we still need a natural reader of the game to sit and control the midfield.
-
That team is worse than the one that finished last season.
-
I'd like to have seen Bidace play instead of AEG
yep 👍

I think our lineup is much better balanced. 433 with I hope AEG on the left. McGinn given a bit more freedom to push forward with Luiz and Ramsey sitting in more. Sanson still MIA
Looks like a very attacking Newcastle lineup too with Willock in for Shelvey. Seems like they will be play with effectively a front four of some description. Hopefully we can get joy against them in midfield.
-
Disappointing injuries but that team looks a lot more balanced
-
At the Ipswich v MK Dons to check on Barry. He's gone from starting last week to the bench in 7 days. Will be good experience for him though
-
decent line-up for a mid-table side....
-
2nd game of the season and looking at our bench it looks threadbare if we are aiming for europe
-
Bailey tweaked hamstring in training yesterday. Apparently he was carrying this for Jamaica in the summer.
-
That team is worse than the one that finished last season.
£90m worth of players sat in the stands though.
-
FFS, not hopeful today.
-
Well at least Smith only took 45mins to realise Young is no longer attacking midfielder.
Playing McGinn in 10? Maybe a good move

Oh I get that, just seems a bit odd we put it 24 hours after a premier league match unless it was impossible to get another team down to VP or Bodymoor in midweek.
-
Better formation, I am assuming McGinn plays further up the pitch and Ramsey and Luiz sit back. Fancy AEG to score today.
-
Maybe I've missed something, but when has Ramsey ever played as a 6? He came on as an 8/10 last week and good thing too, as he's way too lightweight to hold down the midfield in a two. He's played at 8, he's played at 10, and even wide on occasion, but as a holder?
-
I'd like to have seen Bidace play instead of AEG
this
no idea why Bertie had to have a practice match , oh well...
suprise me Villa and win
-

I'd hope Luiz is sitting and McGinn and Ramsey both have licence to get forward rather than 1 of them being told to stay deep, we know what McGinn can do when he gets forward and Ramsey was at his best in the U23s when he was breaking into the box from deep.

Luiz as 6 surely, Ramsey slightly ahead of him.
McGinn surely must play as most advanced of three given how well he took his goal last week. Feels like Ramsey would just take too many chances getting in the box and just make wrong decisions whereas McGinn will get shots away.
-
Is Bailey simply unfit at the moment?
-
It would make more sense to have McGinn and Ramsey in there as they could cover the other on breaks forward while keeping the centre a bit stronger. Neither of them is suited to being partner in a deep two. 4-3-3 surely.

I'd hope it's a 4141 with the 4 in midfield all given the chance to get close to Ings. I'd hope we put pressure on a weak defence and rookie keeper though. If we get too deep we play into their hands because every decent player Newcastle have today is attacking.
-
Please take the game to the opposition this week villa.
-
Wow it sure looks great there.
-
Please tell me that wasn't booing?
-
Please tell me that wasn't booing?
There was unfortunately - but not that much
-
Get up Anwar
-
fuck, close from Wilson. McGinn moaning about foul that never was.
-
Lovely by emi. Aeg should have done better
Wilson misses a sitter. Mcginn was bloody fouled
-
El ghazi is a greedy fuck.
-
WTF was Mings doing?
-
This ref is crap
-
Should be 0-1. Shit refereeing aside, that was woeful defending
-
Fuck me, what ARE we at the back right now?
-
Well, this is not the opening I was hoping for.
This nonsense where we stop playing and wave angrily at the referee needs to stop. Mings now. Konsa multiple times last week. Pissing me right off.
-
Ref has been shit so far, a couple of awful decisions.
-
AEG shouldn’t ever be on the pitch.
-
This refs a fucking joke
-
Fuck me, what ARE we at the back right now?
Terry left.
-
Villa need to get a hold of this and quickly.
-
This refs a fucking joke
Made three mistakes already and laughing it off.. typical.
-
Callum Wilson just missed an absolute sitter for Newcastle. A big let off for us.
-
Get the sense this will be a long afternoon.
-
Four plenty fouls on us and the refs given none. Absolute joke
-
AEG ffs
-
I'm afraid AEG has been about as much use as a bowl of cereal so far.
-
Barry should be starting instead of AEG.
But they loan him out. Madness.
-
I'm afraid AEG has been about as much use as a bowl of cereal so far.
That’s his usual game. He’s a waste of space.
-
This isn’t very good.
-
I'm afraid AEG has been about as much use as a bowl of cereal so far.
That’s his usual game. He’s a waste of space.
We can all see this. Why can’t Dean ffs. ?
-
Barely touching the ball against a Bruce side.
-
Decent by Ramsey & Ings.
-
Barely touching the ball against a Bruce side.
Accurate and thoroughly depressing
-
Ings never use to finish like that against us 😂
-
It was an injury to Bailey then ffs
-
It was an injury to Bailey then ffs
In training.
Again.
-
Grealish has scored for them.
-
Douglas Luiz was lucky not to be booked for that challenge on Saint Maximin.
-
Douglas Luiz was lucky not to be booked for that challenge on Saint Maximin.
Nah, St. Maxim jumped off of two feet and the contact was at the hips. Dramatics.
-
Ratboy scores
-
I know it's early days, but I"m getting Brian Little's last season vibes about this season, when we bought Collymore but no formation or tactic ever seemed to click.
-
Luiz is miles off it today.
-
Buendia just ran about 60 yards back and forth across the pitch screaming for the ball and nobody passed the fucker to him.
-
The criticism levelled at Dean Smith is so justified for his games without Jack. He’s proving it again as he has proven it over time, and showing himself to be so one dimensional. I know key players are missing but we punch so very below our weight. Tactically so poor. Newcastle are below average and we are allowing them to play as they want.
-
Sort it out Dean!
-
Luiz is miles off it today.
Must be tired / jet lagged / in need of 40 winks
-
Sort it out Dean!
He won’t.
-
We have the defence, the forward line and a big fucking no-mans-land of nothingness between them.
-
Diving ******
-
As Ty would day, "wheres the card"
-
Mings, for fuck's sake! Concentrate!
-
Irony from Ashley Young
-
Yellow for simulation - THAT'S THE RULE.
It's not up for debate, enforce the rules.
-
This ref is an absolute fucking joker
-
What a fucking cheating bastard murphy is. That was a sick dive
-
The referee looks nervous.
-
Still fucking shit at bringing it out of the box I see
-
Yellow for simulation - THAT'S THE RULE.
It's not up for debate, enforce the rules.
Unfortunately the ref hasn't read the rule book
-
Unbelievable how murphy never got booked. A blatent cheating dive
-
We look pretty bad.
-
Don't think Cash is going to be needed that alice band much further into his career.
-
This ref is an absolute fucking joker
Has a come from the Beezer Homes league?
-
Anothee shot over the bar
-
Cash needs to try a Bobby Charlton. He might want to try shooting like him too.
-
Smith looks lost
-
JJ our best player if you ask me
-
I know it's only the second game of the season etc etc but what worries me is that the weaknesses we are seeing here are very familiar.
-
We don’t look at all like we should do. All at sea…
Not good enough
-
Mings having a word with AEG
-
Go on Cashy boy.
-
One of the worst refs I've seen in years, this guy ever reffed before in the prem as looks completely overawed by atmosphere.
-
Not been great so far. Injuries are hitting us hard for some unknown reason. I wonder what they do in training..play wall of death?
-
32 minutes and not one shot on target.
Poor
-
Need to buy at least two more players next.
-
It’s as simple as this. Dean Smith has to advance us this season. He will be out of a job if he doesn’t. All the Villa man stuff won’t mean shit if we struggle.
-
Nice play by Buendia, shit from Luiz.
-
Need to buy at least two more players next.
Tomorrow. We need reinforcements tomorrow. A ball winning, marquee central midfielder.
-
Unsurprisingly we look like a team starting from scratch, after losing Grealish that’s to be expected. This season is about consolidation nothing more….
-
Service into the penalty area is non existent.
-
Smith looks like a bloke who's wandered out of the pub, into Villa Park past security and thinks he at the bus stop for the number 7.
-
Another shot over the bar. Jesus this is poor
-
One of the worst refs I've seen in years, this guy ever reffed before in the prem as looks completely overawed by atmosphere.
Just checked him on Wiki. Not good.
'In February 2020, Coote was the video assistant referee for the match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. During the game, Giovani Lo Celso committed a serious foul when he stamped on Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta. On reviewing the incident, Coote deemed the foul not worthy of a red card and Lo Celso escaped a sending off. Coote would later admit to having erred and stated he should have recommended a red card for Lo Celso.[4]
In October of the same year, Coote was again the VAR referee for a derby game. This time between Everton and Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. During the game, Jordan Pickford made a dangerous tackle on Virgil van Dijk in the penalty area, rupturing the latter's cruciate ligament. Coote correctly refused to give a penalty kick due to an offside in the build up. However, due to the offside, he controversially refused to give a red card to Pickford in spite of the challenge clearly endangering the opposition player.[5] The on-field referee, Michael Oliver, later admitted that he should have sent Pickford off.[6] In the same game Coote ruled out what would have been a winning goal for Liverpool when he ruled out Jordan Henderson's 92nd minute goal when Sadio Mané was adjudged to have been marginally offside in the build up to the goal'
-
Stephen Warnock is bigging us up in his co-commentary.
-
Service into the penalty area is non existent.
With a team that has Danny Ings in it, to boot. What's the plan?!
-
Tatty game
-
Better last few minutes.
-
Set piece coach clearly been working his magic.
-
Let's see how the set pieces are coming...oh!
-
Chuck on HT for AEG.
-
Set piece coach clearly been working his magic.
Seriously.. what tf was that?
-
Another dreadful free kick. This set piece coach
We should ahve done better there
-
At least a spell parked in their half. Scrappy, to be sure, but still.
-
Unsurprisingly we look like a team starting from scratch, after losing Grealish that’s to be expected. This season is about consolidation nothing more….
No it isn’t. This is as bad as last season and whichever season grealish wasn’t played. It’s not a recent thing and needs addressing. Fed up of rebuilding/consolidation for poor performances. Either Dean sorts it and gets a tune or gets the tic tac.
It should have been about pushing onwards but a pedestrian Newcastle under Bruce are holding us.
-
At least a spell parked in their half. Scrappy, to be sure, but still.
Off the ball runs and chemistry just isn't even close to good enough for this level.
-
So many mistakes Newcastle have made at the backa dn we are embarrassing messing it up when the opportunity arises.
-
Nearly spat my beer out when I heard we had a set piece coach
-
Wilson is such a twat, I'm so glad we got Watkins instead of the cheating fuck.
-
Nearly spat my beer out when I heard we had a set piece coach
Do you think we got a couch and there was a typo in the announcements and we just ran with it?
-
Buendia not having much success with either free kicks or corners.
-
It's a corner. The SPC will have had them working on...oh!
-
Can we hire a running off the ball coach.
-
This set piece coach best in the business my foot.
-
This set piece coach best in the business my foot.
He’s been here 5 fucking minutes
-
Bloody hell Douglas you had a ten yard headstart on him.
-
Can we hire a running off the ball coach.
First we need a passing coach.
-
This is a bit shit.
-
Can we have a specialist middle of the pitch coach?
-
GOAL!!
-
We're missing him aren't we.
-
This set piece coach best in the business my foot.
He’s been here 5 fucking minutes
And he’s probably concentrating on defending set pieces first 😁
-
Can we have a protect the players from injuries when they sign to us coach?
-
What a goal!! Ings!
-
Are we playing at Ashburton Grove?
-
Yesssssssssss!
-
Get in.
-
That new set piece coach, knows a thing or two :)
-
Thats a beauty....like Bentekes v Norwich.
-
Niceeee
-
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO!
-
Now that was a class strike
-
Thank fuck for that
-
Oh my days
-
Danny Ings!
-
Holy fucking shit!!
-
Yesssss danny !!!!!!
Fucking awesome
-
Fuck me that will do
-
Fucking hell! UTV!
-
No one marking Danny Ings on the penalty spot. :o ;D
-
What a set piece.
Good coaching!!
-
We needed that to start the season, lets go on and bin this lot.
-
I reckon that's our 2nd goal of the month contender, brilliant goal.
-
Get Ing my boy!
-
Did I like that!
-
2 in 2 for ings.
-
Class striker
-
Miles better in CM with Luiz and Ramsey being aggressive.
World class finish by Ings.
-
Brilliant by danny boy!!
-
Genuine question, i honestly can't remember, did we do this five minutes towelling the ball dry for every throw in on that side by Cash before the set piece coach came?
Is that new?
-
That was a HUM-ING'ER
-
Unbelievable, astonishing goal, fuck me!
Good thing too, as I was about to say how incoherent we look.
-
Thought we were decent for last 15 minutes, moving the ball much quicker and shifting it around the wide positions.
Didn't expect a goal of that standard to open the scoring though!
Just one of those games where we just need to get 3 points and move on.
-
Genuine question, i honestly can't remember, did we do this five minutes towelling the ball dry for every throw in on that side by Cash before the set piece coach came?
Is that new?
nah seen him do it last season.
-
ING-credible
-
Brilliant goal. Beudilia playing well, definitely a number 10 through the middle when all fit. Young and Mcginn playing well too. EL Ghazi fairly anonymous imo.
-
Brilliant from Ings. Whoever was working the scoreboard thought it was Buendia though!
-

I don't particularly remember it before this season either.
-

It's new, it's annoying, it's Pulis. But we do it now, ergo it's ace! Bring it on.
-

Delap used to take about two minutes when he was hurling them in for Stoke.
Pretty clever way to run down the clock now we're winning.
-

Agree with that. Young much better as an LB nowadays. Ramsey been bright on the ball.
It hasn't been great (we're pretty much the definition of a side that's had a disrupted pre season) but will take 1-0 no danger from this. After dodgy opening 20 minutes kept their attacking players pretty quiet.
-
Miles better in CM with Luiz and Ramsey being aggressive.
World class finish by Ings.
Let's just hope Luiz doesn't become too aggressive. I sometimes have to shut my eyes and pray for the best when he steams into a challenge.
-
Honestly we have been poor, we try to pass out of defence but look like we've never been coached in the right movements to do so, and we're going to need more than long-throws, flick-ons and finishes out of soccer comics to get up the league this season.
But also, fuck me, that was just utterly maniacal by Ings. 2 in 2 now! Fair to say he's doing what he was signed for.
-
Miles better in CM with Luiz and Ramsey being aggressive.
World class finish by Ings.
Let's just hope Luiz doesn't become too aggressive. I sometimes have to shut my eyes and pray for the best when he steams into a challenge.
He's on a yellow so would expect Nakamba around the hour mark.
-
Superb goal but fuck me other than that we’ve been crap.
-
I thought Cash was taking so long he'd run the clock out. Anyway, it worked. Newcastle can't defend them it seems.
What a cracking finish.
If I was being particularly impatient and pessimistic, I'd say Beundia worries me a tad. I'll give him the benefit of not being 100%, playing in shite conditions, but furthermore, this position on the right doesn't suit him. I would imagine before we see the best from him, Smith will need to figure out who plays where to get the best out of them. Beundia needs to be more central. He does seem to have a good eye for a pass, but when he's fitter I think he'll be sharper off the first few yards.
Minus Bailey and Watkins, we do lack a bit of pace up top. But...the fact we've still got those options to come in is something to look forward to.
Early season can be all about grinding results sometimes, whilst getting up to speed. Stay tight, keep probing for another and don't try to sit on the lead. I'd be tempted to bring on Hourihane to perhaps give us a bit more from set pieces, because Newcastle don't look great defending them, but our delivery hasn't been great.
-
Alot etter than last week but still some issues we need to work on. Set pieces barring the goal have been poor. Creating chances has been limited too.
I think ramsey and mcginn have been really good. Mings ahs been abit clumsy at points. Needs to wake up abit. I fear luiz might get another booking. Might need to bring him off early 2nd half.
Would like to see JPB come on for AEG at some pojnt second half too
-
Ramsey doing okay, perhaps needs to open both his mouth and ears a bit more. McGinn super as per, Buendia doing what I thought he would, and once the pair of them develop a real understanding I think they'll terrorise teams. Big fan, but El Ghazi looks a bit lost out there.
And I've got signal!
And GTG points two weeks in a row!!
Feckin luvvin this.
-
Decent half. A bit scrappy which is understandable with injuries and new players bedding in. Good recruitmemt in the summer means we now have some real quality in the team
-
Well I've seen nothing but the goal so I'm deliriously happy. Enjoy the rest of the match!
-
Superb goal but fuck me other than that we’ve been crap.
I seriously worry about the passing out of defence. Our five central players in defence and midfield were all here last season, yet every time the centre-backs or Doug gets hold of the ball it seems like the instructions to the 8s are 'sprint at the goal like Forrest Gump'. Movement here is teamwork, it's something you coach and you need it to play this style at this level. Yet again we haven't seen it.
-
Crap.
But we are winning. So fuck it.
-
Also I HATE that long ball kick off bullshit.
-
Early warning sign there. We need to ensure we ckose those gaps
-
El ghazi 🤦♂️
-
I’m trying not to forget that between Watkins, Bailey, Sanson and Traore we have over £100m worth of talent out
-
I’m trying not to forget that between Watkins, Bailey, Sanson and Traore we have over £100m worth of talent out
and Trez. That's a lot of attacking options to come back over the next few weeks/months. On top of that they're playing with a back 5 and a DM so us struggling to find space is literally their game plan.
-
FFS Anwar, MOVE!
-
We are looking for someone to carry the ball for us. Apparently some bloke we sold is the best in the business at that. It’s glaring how we are struggling to change our approach creating a lack of ideas in that middle to final third
-
Handball?
-
Looking so flat.
Murphy finally booked. Should be off after that dive
-
That has to be handball
-
Penalty.
-
Penalty confirmed.
-

For me JPB could be the one eventually
-
correct call, his arm is clearly out to block the goal.
-
Is ings taking it?
-
2-0
Anwar
-
2-0. AEG.
-
Yessss.
-

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ANWAR PENALTY KING
-
He truly is fucking magic from the spot. Ice in his veins
-
Back of the net...Get in
-
Nice!
-
The ref had him waiting ages for that,
-
Yes…get in AEG
-
Fucking get in!!!
Been better this half, deserve this.
-
Great stuff. Get him off now. Job done.
-
Fucking yes! Ave it!!
-
Fucking get in AEG!!
-
The ref had him waiting ages for that,
He really did. Thankfully Anwar's nerves are steadier than mine.
-

Absolutely, for all his limitations he's one of the best penalty takers I've ever seen, he never looks like missing them.
-
That should be enough for Newcastle, another would be sweet.
-
Buendia doesn’t look fit enough to me
-

6 scored out of the last 6 he's taken
-
Buendia doesn’t look fit enough to me
I agree, looking really leggy now, I'd bring JPB on soon, Chuk for AEG as well.
-
Get luiz off for nakamba
Brilliant atmosphere
-
We need one of those famous Emi Martinez clean sheets now
-
We send it long far far too easily.
-
Fuck, I wish I were there. It sounds brilliant.
-
We are dropping too deep and asking for trouble
-
Shithousery from the Toon keeper.
All to no avail.
Anwar El Goalzi - thank you!!!
-
Mings is massive.
-
We are dropping too deep and asking for trouble
Thats smiths tactics for you. Its a growing trend with us. Nit the players they are being instructed to play like this
-
We send it long far far too easily.
I honestly don’t know why. It’s more a Mings play than anyone else but you’d think Dean Smith given his reputation pre Villa would want to play it on the deck the vast majority of the time
-
We send it long far far too easily.
Well we are used to having the hardest working forward in the league to chase it down. Aside from that I think we're mixing it up pretty well today, as I said earlier they're playing with what is effectively a back 6, if we try to pass through we're struggling for space so threatening them with balls in behind at least pushes them back slightly. I just wish we had someone with a bit more pace to really 'sell' it, that's why I'd bring JPB on.
-
Shithousery from the Toon keeper.
All to no avail.
Anwar El Goalzi - thank you!!!
Jed Steer he ain’t
-
Newcastle United simply should not have this much of the ball.
-
Bring some fresh legs on Dean FFS
-
Ramsey is going to be some player
-
Fucking hell. What a stupid play by Emi. Penalty to them FFS
-
Penalty for Newcastle. Emi a bit lost there (and also cautioned).
-
Ramsey has been great
-
That’s offside
-
What was he doing?
-
Shoot selves in the foot again
-
WTF Emi?!
-
Saved by an offside call in the play leading up to the penalty. Haha.
-
Hahahahaha
-
Ha, offside.
-
Phew.
-
Was VAR saving us there
-
Terrible emi. Wtf what he doing there. Stone wall pen
Idiotic from him
-
That’s well offside with or without the lines.
-
Horrible one Fistface!
-
Lucky there.
Now make some subs Dean ffs.
-
Does Emi’s yellow also get rescinded then?
-
Yellow card stands how does that make sense ffs
-
We are using up our seasons VAR credit in one game
-
Buendia really hasn’t locked in on a role. He looks a bit lost
-
Make a fucking change, Dean! Fuck me. Every game it's the same.
-
Is Bailey on yet
-
I was pretty sure that was going to be given offside.
-
Does Emi’s yellow also get rescinded then?
No, for some stupid reason they stand.
-
Aston VARlla!
Hope we're not using all our decisions up today.
-
Is Bailey on yet
he's not on the bench, so no.
-
Does Dean Smith hate subs?
-
Sort it out Dean.
-
Buendia really hasn’t locked in on a role. He looks a bit lost
Yeah. Not sure what's going on there but he's not showing much. Let's hope it's fitness.
-
Does Lascelles do boxing in his spare time
-
Make a sub dean. Give JPB and nakamba some minutes
-
Buendia really hasn’t locked in on a role. He looks a bit lost
Yeah. Not sure what's going on there but he's not showing much. Let's hope it's fitness.
I think it’s tactics too. He’s a multi dimensional player but if we are not going to use him to his strengths he looks out if the game. Probably a bit like Jack has looked early on at Man City
-
Fucking hell. What a stupid play by Emi. Penalty to them FFS
So so lucky there. Its a shocking tackle by Martinez
-
We will be in a world of trouble against better sides but for today I’ll take the 3 points
-
This referee needs to go back to school - just plain awful today.
-
JPB coming on for Buendia
-
Bidace boy
-
We will be in a world of trouble against better sides but for today I’ll take the 3 points
Maybe maybe not. When the squad is fit and Dean’s worked out how to use them we will be alright
-
JPB!!
-
Axel back in business for Doug
-
We will be in a world of trouble against better sides but for today I’ll take the 3 points
Yep, but we have to take this, get players back fit, if we can edge these games in this state then it bodes well for the season. fingers crossed.
-
We will be in a world of trouble against better sides but for today I’ll take the 3 points
Yeah it’s one of the easiest games of the season and one you’d be hoping to win battling relegation but a win is a win, we’re off the mark.
-
You dirty bastard Longstaff
-
Did I just see Axel say 3 at the back?
-
Can we play Newcastle every week?
-
Ings has been great again. Off now for Big Wes
-
6 minutes
-

Emi didn't have to make a save today. We look a bit disjointed in the final third, and our chemistry just isn't there yet.
I'll take 2-0 home opener all day, but there is a lot of room for improvement.. and a lot of talent to still be worked into this 11.
-
Did Ings have 4 paper rounds?
-
That set piece coach is clearly suffering from our disjointed pre-season.
-
OOOOOOHHHH AEG with a nice effort
-
That set piece coach is clearly suffering from our disjointed pre-season.
He must be going round the bend.
-
When a side is bringing on Ryan Fraser to save them you know they are fucked and we should be beating them
-
That set piece coach is clearly suffering from our disjointed pre-season.
Bound to really, he's just back from touring with the Foo Fighters.
-
Anyone else glad we didn't waste 20m on Callum Wilson?
-
Almiron has just put a shot in the general direction of Perry Barr ;D
-
Anyone else glad we didn't waste 20m on Callum Wilson?
He’s a good striker but I’m glad we bought Ollie Watkins
-
Wesley’s looked pretty lively.
-
Anyone else glad we didn't waste 20m on Callum Wilson?
Newcastle would have been better off giving Callum Best a chance ;D
-
Really good result and badly needed.
-
Really good second half that, all very comfortable in the end.
Looking forward to next week now, we certainly needed 3 points on the board early on this season.
-
Anyone else glad we didn't waste 20m on Callum Wilson?
Absolutely, he's a decent player but he's a complete twat, one of the whiniest players I've ever seen and thinks he a lot better than he is, he's a perfect Bruce player.
