In and confirmed for an initial £300,000. 19, and now gives us our second family, alongside The Ramsey's. Good to see that we are investing more into our youth system. We have some of the best rated facilities in the country for some time. After the bullying claims of the previous era under Kmac it probably took some time to rebuild faith in our set up. We seem to have brought through too little talent in the last 10 years. Young players from the club are always a little more special, and, whilst many of these are being bought at the end of the youth program, it gives me hope that we are putting a similar level of time and investment into the younger elements of the system, too.
Welcome to VP Caleb.

Hopefully they're more successful than the Karamazovs.

And the yoga twins

He has already signed a deal with Callaway Golf.

The Chukwue Brothers linking up:
To me, to you.
Don't tell me you didn't think it too. 😉
-
I just hope it pans out better than with the Djemba twins.
-
Did we ever get both of the Djembas on the pitch at the same time?
-
Already Posted this in the transfer thread, but he seems quite quick, with good feet and not afraid to travel with the ball.
I think if you looked at that youtube clip and it was one of our 18-year-olds who'd been on loan at Northampton last season, you'd think from those highlights that they'd done pretty well - especially playing in a relegated side, and only starting 2 matches (20 of his appearances were from the bench, for a total of 520 minutes all season - that's less than 6 full games).
Let's see how we can develop him over the next year or so! Welcome to the Villa Caleb!

Ahem.
The Revan brothers?

We must have more players in our youth and under 23 squads than was in the cast for the original Ben Hur film
-
How quickly we forget our history. We were never able to see the Djembas both on the pitch at the same time because they only had one work permit.

You must be thinking of Charlton.
-
No it was Ealing FC who played at Heston. By the M4.
-
Welcome matey, it's all before you, I wish you the best of luck.
-
Watching the video he looks like a clone of his brother that just hasn't been as well coached. Most of the same natural elements are there and all look really natural (I love the rangy Yaya Toure style ball carrying where they're in control but you can't quite work out how, every time it looks like the ball is getting away out stretches a long leg and pulls it back in) but it's all very raw. The good thing is that I reckon both of them have the natural ability to play all over the pitch. Chuk seems, to me, to be destined to become a top quality box-to-box midfielder though.

Some of those runs up the wing reminded me of a young Emile Heskey at Leicester

Yeah I agree, he was another who, early in his career had that same awkward control that was really effective despite looking 'off'.
The other thing I liked is that he's clearly right footed and more comfortable on that side but if he found himself in position on his left he'd use it despite not being as strong on that side, that's a really good sign that he can be coached to be more 2-footed.
-
Good luck fella, hope you make it.
Highly unlikely to happen, but I'd be excellent if we ever manage to rip up a decent PL team fielding a side with all the Ramsey, Chuky and Revan boys in it.
-
Seems to have decent feet and natural ability. Shame he's not a yard faster but will be interesting to see him develop.
-
Welcome Caleb looking forward to seeing him.

oh come on now. Give the guy a chance to play before writing him off.

Inevitably someone would say this without having an appreciation for just how good Heskey was a young player.

Heskey was pretty good until he left his teens

Could we make this into a chant?

I thought that too, yet some of his runs involved punting it past a player and running past them to keep possession; weird to see as I couldn't determine a significant increase in speed.

I think it was more to do with the level of defender he was playing against.
-
I know a couple of Northampton fans and they're not exactly sad to see him leave. Don't think he got a lot of game time there and was their 4th or 5th choice forward. I suppose we can afford to be patient with him whereas a Division 4 team can't. I do think part of it is to keep his brother happy though.
-
The club will make good money from the letters on the shirts .

He used to be shite, but now he's all right .....

Didn't Barry die the other month/year ?

Didn't Barry die the other month/year ?
Yeah, a couple of years ago IIRC. There was a nice story doing the rounds after he died. They were/are big Rotherham fans and at the first match the survivor attended the away supporters started chanting 'To You...' and it got picked up by the Rotherham fans who chanted back ' To Me...' and so it went on. Nice gesture.

I think at one time they were honoury presidents of the club and I think Barry’s funeral was held at the New York Stadium (the name of their ground still cracks me up 😂)

Ha, that's great. Lovely gesture.

Caleb has made the bench tonight Vs Barrow
Hoping he gets a little run out
Great to see players given opportunity
-
Lovely to hear a chorus of there's only 2 Chukwuemeka being sung when Caleb came on for Carney
-
Did well to help set up one of the goals before getting crunched. He looks confident enough to me, wouldn't be surprised to see him back on loan to get a bit more experience.

From what I've seen I think he needs quality coaching more than experience in the next year, looks like a very raw talent.
-
Gave his shirt to supporter in the crowd thought that was a nice acknowledgement to those that travelled and considering its his debut minutes and first appearance for Vila in a game too he gave his shirt away.
Nice.
-
Looked a good prospect. I think coaching him here in the u23s for a year see how he develops then maybe a loan to championship next season
-
Was a bit pissed off when he got cynically fouled just as he was about to set off on one of those runs we've seen on his highlight reel from just inside the Barrow half. I was thinking this is his chance, then some neandethal smashed him.
-
I think they need a thread each. As they both played, hard to know who is being discussed!
-
Carney already has a thread so maybe this could just be renamed for Caleb.

Thought this was the Caleb thread, hasn't Carney got his own? Certainly a title change on this one needed.

He was crunched twice in the space of two minutes when he first came on, both times, as you say, was when he had done his marker and was about to set off on one of those runs which I hope is going to be one of his specialities. Looks a very good prospect.

Caleb's a six footer, and turns 20 in January
From the brief glimpse of him last night, with the right coaching and development, he could, in 2yrs or so be the centre forward we've been trying to find for the last 3-4 seasons.
I reckon he's got more potential than Keinan Davis, who is 4 yrs older.
-
I can see why people have compared Caleb to a younger version of Ivan Toney.
-
Un used sub in Scottish Cup yesterday v Hearts. 0-0
Lost 4-3 on pens.
Where is his game time?
