Cue lots of semi-literate dingles making unoriginal "mind the gap" observations.

1-3. With no fans every game becomes a neutral ground game and looking at the results so far, post Covid break, the team with the best players wins. Has there been a single scoreline to contradict that?

Wolves last won an away game by more than a goal on 5th October so even though they have better players we'd have to defend really badly to get hammered.

I think they'll win but similar to how Chelsea game panned out feels logical.

Too quick, too organized, too technically talented. We will be chasing shadows most of the game and then they will bring on Adama to torch a tired Matt Targett.

3-1 Wolves.

We should see if we could sneak Hutton back in for a game, he did an absolute job on him in the play off against Boro.

Maybe put him in a blonde wig and alice band and call him 'Matt'.

-------------Nyland
Elmo, Hause, Mings, Taylor
--------------Luiz
------TBC----Nakamba
-----------Grealish
-------Davis, Samatta

I wouldn't be totally against Mings or Hause at left back either with Konsa in the middle. But we can't have Targett there getting destroyed by Traore without even putting up a fight or limping off like he did earlier in the season.

No Trez, no AEG, no McGinn, no Targett . Maybe Drinky or Ramsey for the TBC slot

I would consider three at the back for this one.  Targett isolated 1v1 against their wide players is not a great prospect and if him and Elmohamady play as wing backs, we might at least get some decent balls into the box.

Think McGinn is miles off the pace and needs drop to the bench, so would bring Marvelous back in for this one to play alongside Luiz and with Grealish in front of them.  Go with two up top, as we're getting very little from either Teezeguet (think he probably needs to put that nickname away now) or El Ghazi out wide.

Sorry before the weekend game I forgot to put! Still just two away games in six months, don't think they won any in August or September. They won 2-1 at Norwich and Bournemouth so they do just enough in these games.

Even the West Ham game they didn't threaten much until they scored. Our trouble is last 30 minutes whne against good opposition we really start to flag badly and offer little in way of attacks and that's the period where Adama is coming into his own currently.

The way a team like Wolves play is our worst nightmare, quick, skilful, hit you on the break with pace. We really wont have a clue so I'm expecting to get absolutely battered here.

0-3 the the Dogheads while their weird fans try to stir up that strange, stalker like, faux rivalry that those desperate to be relevant fans always try with us, see also Coventry City.

I’d have fancied us for this one with the Holte roaring us on, but in a soulless, clinical atmosphere I think they’ll be too good for us technically and pass us off the park like Chelsea. But swings and roundabouts, think we may well have lost at Newcastle against a partisan crowd... hope I’m wrong though, would love to beat this lot!

Agree with this. It would be pure negligence to allow another Targett vrs Traore match up! Just hope through luck more than intent, Smith has found more or less his 11 for the run in, in that last 10 mins at Newcastle. Can’t have the wingers anywhere near the team.

They are far better than us in every single department and their manager is far more tactically astute and seemingly more motivationally inspiring.

I predict us 2 them 1, cuz we need it and football sometimes does this.

Yeah, I’d agree with those saying three at the back, matching them up somewhat. I’d ideally like to see something like a 4-3-1-2 going forward but that would be a bit suicidal against Wolves with the wings back and Traore.

Would say we need to have Hourihane in the team though - unless we suddenly start being a lot better and more creative in attack - his set pieces look pretty much our best chance of a goal at the moment.

Three at the back against these is a mistake. Don't try and match them, disrupt them. If they can't smack a long diagonal into the space behind your wing back, you've cut off most of their threat, and they end up trying to shuffle the ball on the edge of the box till Neves can have a dig.

They're an oddity in the top flight, but the best way to beat them is probably with a straight up 442 and to get a bit direct and physical with them. Pretty much like wor Steve did with them when we battered them in the second division.

                    Nyland

 Elmo McGinn Luiz Connor Targett

However i fully expect:

I’d say there is zero chance of starting 2 up top having listened to Deans press call - it’s a finishing option with Jack behind front two but not to start.

Hopefully neither winger starts

                  Nyland
Guilbert Mings Hause Targett
   Luiz Nakamba Hourihane
         Grealish McGinn
                   Davis

Reina
Taylor
Elmo
Konsa
Lansbury/Ramsey (is Lansbury fit or Ramsey eligible?)
Drinkwater
El Ghazi/Jota (not Trezeguet!)
Samatta
Vasillev/Barry (would like to have both ideally)

We need Jack / McGinn to be ratting around Moutinho so he doesn’t have complete run of the game & we cannot play that negative garbage that we did vs Chelsea - if Doherty / Jonny spend all game bombing forward they will hurt us.

I actually think this will be the hardest of the next three.

Nuno has turned them into something of a machine. No whining about extra games, they just get on with it and keep producing results.

If we set up with extra full backs, we’ll be done for. We may as well give it go.

Depends what you mean by 'give it a go', CT. Given the state of the table, a narrow defeat wouldn't be the end of our season. On the other hand, a comprehensive shoeing could well prove terminal.

We'll win, anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it. 2-1, Hourihane free kick for the winner with a harrowing amount of time left on the clock.

Yes mate agreed it’s our biggest failure. Jack was having to cover so much pitch to get into attacking positions. When he’s up there around the box he causes havoc, drawing defenders, turning teams inside out. I’d love to see us push higher and make teams play on the back foot but we never do.

3-2 with Angel getting a brace. Gareth Barry will get the other. Saddam Hussein will be captured in Iraq while the match is under way.

Or 1-0 Villa, Super Tommy Johnson will knock one in off the diving goal keeper on a pitch that’s nearly devoid of grass.

Either score would do but I think we’ll be the usual passive side letting Wolves play and roll us over.

1-4

Sad to say, they are in a different league at this time and we are doomed

3-2 with Angel getting a brace. Gareth Barry will get the other. Saddam Hussein will be captured in Iraq while the match is under way.

Or 1-0 Villa, Super Tommy Johnson will knock one in off the diving goal keeper on a pitch that’s nearly devoid of grass.

Either score would do but I think we’ll be the usual passive side letting Wolves play and roll us over.

Good games although I saw highlights of that cup game and we really got away with it, think Wolves hit the post/bar three times.

Bjarni strolling through their backline and firing in from 20 yards was a much more recent highlight.

They don't really hammer teams, usually win by the odd goal home and away (as they did v us in the home game although they dominated that one).

Would be a really bad defensive day at the office considering West Ham and Bournemouth both kept them scoreless for an hour.

Almost universal pessimism, interesting. It must mean we’re going to win. Or get thrashed. Or possibly draw.

I’m dreading this one. They are now notorious for late goals, 70 minutes plus. Now we’ve got a horrible habit for leaking goals late in the half. This could be a nightmare.

Please God , no Trez nor El Ghazi. I could well be wrong but struggling to think of any match this season where either have significantly contributed in their role as wingers. Admittedly, Trez has chipped in with some important goals but this shouldn’t gloss over their all fart no shit general “contribution”.

Seconded. I had some optimism regarding Trezeguet...that has gone.

El Ghazi is appalling.

We're gonna win this, Wolves are up there as one of the hardest teams in the Premiership to beat, they have a supreme manager,  Nuno Espírito Santo, but its just a hunch, this is ours, all 3 points, this is where we survive, Jack I need you to step up mate.

Through hearing a myth, a man takes action.

do it!!!.

I did too, thought there was a player there. He has enthusiasm and really wants to do well. He might just be a bit shit though.

I hope you have a seat on that fence  ;D

But I think that we are due a surprise result ( in our favour! )
Maybe we get a fluke goal, then normal service is resumed, with all backs to wall, and we break away, and sneak another.

I try to have a positive mental attitude.
I positively have attitude, but best less said about the other ::)

4-1 to us, Bjarnason with the pick of them.

Bjarnason must come good soon, shirley?

This could be the day dat that we click. Once we have clicked, it will be downhill sailng or bunjee jumping all the way down. Pile on at these odds. Gamble sensibly. Look after your Mom and don't cross a picket line.

Looking at where they are and where we are, you’d be a bit mad to predict a Villa win. My only glimmer of hope is that it’s a derby and if we can somehow drag them down to our level, we may be able scrape a point and hope other results go our way. The whole derby thing is pretty much negated though with no crowd behind us. I’m expecting a handy Wolves team to win comfortably, but you never know.

With a sell out crowd roaring us on, who knows.

With no fans at all, the fact we’re close geographically means nothing IMO.

Even a draw would be nice to temporarily get out of the bottom three.

I would go
I hope Freddie is back.

I would go with;

Targets

I’m not sure playing two of him will be enough, but might make Dean feel confident enough to play Jack through the middle I suppose.

Nah, he’ll still play him on the left to protect the Targets.

That game at Molineux still rankles with me.
Mings got his England call up and his team performance took a noticable dip.Doherty and Traore took advantage of our ridiculous narrowness and when we (albeit too late) decided to go on the front foot ,Wolves didn't look invincible.

Whatever the formation, we don’t have good enough players to win unless Wolves have an off day.

I haven't even been given any option to put a season ticket reference in. I wonder if it is because I transferred my Sky passes. Seems a bit rough if so because I'm basically being punished for having Sky.

We have to lay a glove on them. Far too passive in recent performances against them.

We've won two of the last three. So that wouldn't that be recent "performance" rather than "performances"?

I'm not counting our reserves v their reserves as having any relevance.

Since we were relegated and played them under Bruce, we've lost 3, drawn 1 and won 1. 4 dire performances where we scraped a point and didn't lay a glove on them, that's what I am alluding to and hope we avoid today.

Either a midfield diamond or Davis will play wide.  Good decision to take McGinn out of the starting XI and to drop El Ghazi and Trezeguet.

Only other change I'd have made would be Elmo for Konsa. He has his weaknesses, but one of the best crossers of a ball we have.

Seems a bit mad going with so little width and then choosing not to play Elmo to make up for it a bit. Wonder if we bring a winger on when they bring Traore on.
