I’m looking for any footage at all of either leg of Villa’s first ever European tie against Royal Antwerp, in 75/6. I was at both games, but can’t remember ever seeing any footage at all, but thought if there was any, someone on here might know if there was any.
-
Apart from the villa Times, the programme the only other photos look at the terry weir book
-
Rob Bishop's book Euros & Villans starts with a chapter on the match and includes some photos (along with lots of other interesting stuff in later chapters).
-
Cheers lads. I’ve got both those books. I’m sure if any film footage existed, somebody, somewhere would have posted it before now.

Hi Kenny as historic as the games were for us I'm not sure I could bear to watch either games as we were abject over both legs ...good luck in your quest for footage
Like you I went to both games and strangely remember the ties with some affection - more the experience than the results and performances
-
I’d tweet both clubs and ask them to retweet an appeal, presuming RA themselves don’t have footage.
-
Villa Boy on Facebook has got to be a good shout if you’re on there?

I asked on there this morning, mate. Nothing so far.

I was actually asking on behalf of an Antwerp fan, I’m friends with. He’s had no luck over there, after searching for several months.

Same here mate, re the experience. It was my first meeting with french fries covered in mayo, and we’re still friends to this day, lol!

Antwerp is great, just don't promise to buy your missus an engagement ring there.
-
Wonderful sculpture park took me there on my birthday, synched with a Nick Cave gig, figured if I’m going to pay to sit in a barn might as well be a foreign one :)
-
Yeah went to both and perhaps best left alone. But I will never forget attending "The First Aston Villa European Away Match"
-
There was definitely footage of the away game as I recall it being on the local news the next day. I never saw any footage of the home defeat though, a game I missed as I was playing for the school team and got home too late to go to Villa Park.
-
I was on holiday at the time of both games and remember seeing the goals from the away leg on the news as well, but nothing on the home game.

They're better off without. Extensive research has taught me that.

Sacrilege Dave, Belgian pomme frittes without the frite sauce, I’m shocked!

They're better with just salt. Trust me.

I posted in the Memories section on the away tie - there's a picture of the game on one of the replies.
I went to both legs - can't believe it's 44 years ago!!
