Is it ok that I start a pre match thread?
No need to state that this game is massive, even though it’s massive.
Some changes are needed just to freshen things up.
Axel in for Hause I suspect.
Hourihane in for Whelan
Albert in for Green.
I’m going for a 2-0 away win.
-
I have gone for a draw for us for the last few games, so I've gone for a draw this time as well!
-
A very comfortable win.

Axel in for Hause assuming the latter is still injured, and Albert in for Green, absolutely. I think he'll start with Whelan though. A midfield three of Jack, SJM and Hourihane is a bit lightweight possibly. McGinn has to watch himself as if he picks up three more yellow cards he'll be banned for three matches. If we can get back to getting comfortable leads, I'd be subbing SJM off for Conor personally.
-
Rotherham are fighting for their Championship lives. They got a result against Forest so no room for complacency. We need to go back up there focused on doing a professional job and come home with 3pts in the bag.
Whelan needs a rest so I'd start with Hourihane, and bring off McGinn for Whelan if the game is comfortable.
0-3 Villa

Yup 7 or 8 nil I reckon.
-
9 points from the last 6 games says Rotherham are making a real fight of it.
However, we are doing rather well ourselves of late.

Let us not get ahead of ourselves and start getting all Wolves eh? A professional performance is required. DFU.
Is this game available on the Sky red button?
-
Anything less than 10 against these northern no hopers and i'll be very unhappy. They should treat us with the reverence we deserve and enjoy being beaten by us as it's an honour for them just to be on the same pitch as us.

Whelan has played too many games for a 35 year old lately, for club and country. Definitely needs a breather, Hourihane didn't do much wrong to be dropped either.
One of Bruce's biggest faults was not freshening the team up when we were on a good run. Sincerely hope Smith doesn't make the same mistake.
Hause, Whelan, El Ghazi and Green out Tuanzebe, Hourihane, Adamoah and Kodjia in.
-
Who are the three miserable bastards predicting a Rotherham win? Stuart can't be dead after we beat his I love Bruce XI at the weekend so he must have popped on and voted. Who's the other two?
-
Hause, Whelan, El Ghazi and Green out Tuanzebe, Hourihane, Adamoah and Kodjia in.
I'd agree with that but I think Smith will stick with Green and El Ghazi.
-

Exactly what I said albeit using different words.
-
D 1-1.

Agree. And I think we will be professional and prepared. The big difference now is that it’s not just about rolling your sleeves up boys and don’t be complement. There will be a defined game plan for taking on Rotherham so it comes down more to executing that than taking them seriously.
-
2-1 us
-
I've thought recently that this had more of a potential to be a banana skin than the Sheffield Wednesday game, as it's perfectly set up for a fighting underdog performance from them.
Saying that, we have earned the right to fear nobody and I think we're going to win.
1-0, Tammy.
-
We need to avoid QPR syndrome as experienced last season. I would freshen it up, especially in midfield.
Axel will likely need to start anyway given Hause's injury, but we need fresh legs to avoid being flat.
Rotherham have picked up of late. They were unfortunate against Norwich and have bagged a few wins, but we ought to make our quality tell.

Have we seen the ladt of Jedi.?

Some of you lot are afraid to play anyone. Leeds and Norwich will be too good for us because they are in the top two/three. Dont want to play teams at the bottom because they will be fighting for their lives against the drop. Dont want to play mid table sides as they will be relaxed and play with total freedom. This is Dean Smith's version of Aston Villa. We can and will beat all who have to face us. No one will want to play us now or in the play offs. 3-0 Villa.

Too right. Bring 'em all on, we'll 'ave 'em.
And I want Bristol City to win tonight. I want top four, I want that second leg at our place.
-
Victory
-
Draw, we're not playing great these last three halves and Rotherham will make it difficult at New York stadium especially if it's baseball we're playing ("You're not from New York City, you're from Rotherham").
-
Away win
-
I think Dean called it right - the only team that can beat us at the moment is us.

Jesus, Stoke have had 3 goals in their last 6 games, including four 0-0 draws. Their fans must be gouging their eyes out with boredom. At least under Pulis they were boring and awful in the Premier League. Now they are boring and awful in the Championship.
-
The thing on our side here is that they leak goals, but have been good at home recently. I fancy us to score at least 1. Draw - banana skin.
-
A scrappy 1-0 win will do.
-

No, they aren't from New York City, however, the area where the stadium is built was home to the foundries that made all the New York fire hydrants.
Anyway, this will be tricky but we'll win again, we have momentum.
-
The right approach should see us win and we will have that. 2-0 Villa
-
Squeeky bum time but 1-0 with Keith Leonard to score!
-
Not been before , driving up . Anyone got advice about parking near the ground ?
-
There is a car park next to the stadium, I parked there the year they got relegated, as it happens ended up parked next to Sir Brian of Little
-
Watching the highlights the other day, they seem like a team of giants, so set pieces should be the main threat.

I saw you pulling up, and I took a candid photo. I hope you don't mind me sharing it here:

Please win Villa, please win. Gone for a draw, really hope for a win
-
they are fighting to stay in the 2nd Divison....we are trying to get the feck out of it....should be a good game and hopefully if the McGrath's are smiling on us we will prevail.

2-0 win for Villa but it won't be easy. Rotherham are a team of limited quality but they have impressed me this season with their fighting spirit.
-
1-1

No Problem sharing the photo, that was just before Sir Brian walked across and rescued us.
-
No game is easy in this league but we have got to keep winning so I will say 2-0 Villa win.
-
These are the games you just have to win now, 3-1 to us.
-
Banana skin?
-
Rotherham 1-4 Aston Villa
-
It's about time we thrashed United. Millmoor should be buzzing tomorrow night. I usually park at the scrapyard next dood and get away with it due to the state of my van.
-
A few stats ahead of the game, courtesy of the beeb
Rotherham United have lost their past five matches against Aston Villa without finding the net in any of those games.
Aston Villa have not lost away at Rotherham United since the first leg of the League Cup final in August 1961 (W3 D1 L0 since).
Since his first league match in charge on October 20th, only Norwich City (67) have scored more Championship goals than Dean Smith's Aston Villa (53).
I assume they're not in the bottom 3 by accident. I expect us to dispatch them accordingly.
-
I'm expecting it to be another tough game just like Saturday where Wednesday were battling to save their season, Rotherham are desperate to survive. Wednesday, whilst putting us under lots of pressure created few chances, I see Rotherham doing the same. Fortunately we now have a defence that can defend, our midfield have been excellent though I expect Whelan to be rested. Other than that, I imagine it will be the same side as Saturday. Maybe Uncle Albert to come in and help out down the flanks which is where they are said to be strong.
I'm going for a 3-1 Villa win confident in the knowledge that I've predicted the last few games correctly within a (Villa) goal.
-
We should have too much for them but it's going to be tough. I'll go a tight 1-2 win.

I should hope they haven't beaten us since God's dog was a pup - they're fucking Rotherham.

another must win, hopefully we can do this with aplomb, 2-1 Villa, need to keep this going now.

That's why you need a like button on this forum.

After beating a lot of our playoff rivals in recent weeks, we need to approach Rotherham as though they are playoff rivals: focussed, disciplined, determined and prepared to play with the right attitude to the last minute. 7 out of 7 would be brilliant ahead of Saturday's game against Bristol. This could be a defining week in consolidating our position in the playoffs. 3 points please Villa. UTV!
-
No easy games, and we need to make sure it isnt another Reading.
They will come at us and I expect a very bitty game and need to be careful that they dont do to us, what we did to SheffWed
I'll take a 1 nil.
-
Is this going to be live on the Sky red button thing does anyone know?
-

I believe so.
Just checked, it is. The Rags are on the main channel against Sheff Utd.
-
Thanks Nev! Excellent - the missus is out and there's beer in the fridge.
Rotherham 0 - Villa 5
-
Got a bit of a nagging feeling about this one, simply because I thought we started to look a bit tired at times in the second half on Saturday (even though we scored the two late goals). They are a physical side, so the thought of Hourihane replacing Whelan in central midfield concerns me a bit.
-
1-4 Villa. We go 0-3 up, minor mistake allows them a goal, then we put them down. UTV. Tammy 2, Adomah & McGinn.
-
I expect us to 'Fuck the Fuckers!'. Emphatically.
-
Nice and comfortable 0-3 but the wife thinks it will be a nervy 1-2 so now I'm worried
-
Off to this tonight with the youth, but i've woke up feeling quite queasy about it. I've got an awful feeling it's not going to be an easy night for some reason. Possibly down to our last couple of performances (if not results) they could have put a dampener on my optimism not to mention they're fighting for their lives and have a decent home record.
This season we had away tickets to Sheff United but couldn't make it and we lost 4-1. Then we went to Wigan and lost 3-0.
Please forgive me if we lose tonight as we're clearly cursed.
-
This is a proper test, under floodlights away at a team fighting for their lives. Rotherham shouldn’t be taken lightly.
-
Rotherham are the same team that Derby smashed 6-1. Between the start of November and the end of Feb they won once in 19 games. They've picked up of late and are fighting for their lives, but they're still shit.
-
Early goal for us tonight and all should go to plan.

Looking at their recent home form, it might not be as comfortable a win as I thought. Last 5 home games they've won 2, draw 2 and only lost to Norwich by the odd goal. Still going 2 nil Villa, Mings And McGinn.

Made it and the lads here are all quite up for it. About the size of a small shop will be cozy if it gets busy.
